Ths version changed to make railgun and plasma gun less effective against cyberdemon (they deal explosion damage, which cyberdemon resist). So your choice against him is limited to 2 bfg and unmaker. Otherwise it's a waste of ammo. It also make mg42 use normal rifle ammo, which is great. The 79 launcher deal larger aoe so it can hurt you easily, but that also make it more useful against group of cacos. The revolver have wider spread than shotgun so it's effective against group of zombie and imp in close range.
