I personally believe 14 teams are good for now. Don't get me wrong, but we have to view 50 over World Cup from so many different angles. There is a difference between t20 and odi event. Upcoming T20 world cup 2024 will be for a month (possibly few days more) because matches are short, but odi last more than twice the time. We also have to have at least some competition and T20 World Cup 2022 was the best example by far with lower teams (including Ire and Zim) beating full members, but in odi there is not much competition from associate nations. Scot and Ned are the top tier performed teams because on their days there will be upsets, so they can fill the 13 & 14 spot. Other than them, we can't find/ guarantee about others, Oman did really good in League 2 2019-23 (2nd placed) and CWC Qualifier 2023 (Promoted Super Six) as an associate, but we have to see their performance against FM in this format. Nepal is not on the level to play an odi world cup because of the bad record their performance outside Asia, not better than 3 previous associates I talked earlier and never played an ODI against FM before CWC Qualifier 2023, not even a win till now. Other than them no one can even make the list in ODI format for participation in World Cup.

@@nishankartvthis is the present scenario and the reason I did not mention Namibia because their performance in ODI has been dipping since their tour of Nepal for League 2 matches which they lost all four, failed to get in top 3 league 2 positions, played CWC Qualifier Playoff at home but USA and UAE outshined them and get promoted to CWC Qualifier for World Cup 2023

4 Semi-Finalists are already qualified after last night's Pak vs SA.
PAK, BAN, NED, AFG, ENG are already knocked out literally after just half of the tournament, and Sri Lanka are obviously not going to make it to the semis, 15-16 matches remaining before semis are useless and dead-rubber, because we have already 4 Semi-Finalists AUS , NZ, SA and IND.
The Point is, IND are in Semis most probably they will make it to the Finals too. So, Well done ICC/ BCCI you WON, Cricket lost.

ICC is the worst sporting society ever. They started out by bringing a Cricket World Cup, then a Champions Trophy and then the World T20. But then they went absurd and renamed the World T20 to T20 World Cup for no reason. Bro! World Cup of any sport has some history. This renaming has tarnished the image of the Cricket World Cup and the game itself. It should be called World T20 Championship. And dont mind me, but i think that 14 teams are enough for the Cricket World Cup. ODIs are a gentleman's game and thus it deserves a special place in the cricketing nations. Also the fact that the so called T20 WC isnt viewed or followed anywhere outside Indian subcontinent. Australia and England today even know its going on. For them its only Cricket World Cup. So stop calling it ODI World Cup!
