Even if the size difference is huge, these two Magico's have more things in common than the PS Audio FR5 had with the A1. So Magico definitively got a signature house sound!
Coming from someone with as much experience with high-end speakers, that's quite the endorsement of the Q7! When oh when though are you going to get some YG's or Von Schwikert's in the lab Jay? Maybe give Rockport's or Stenheim's some love?
You are right on about the need for proper associated equipment. I upgraded to a loudspeaker with 85 dBA sensitivity and 4 ohm impedance, with minimums of 2 ohms in the power hungry bass frequencies. I had to get a high current, class A biased amp to avoid clipping the low bass and properly drive the speaker. Thank you for this interesting comparison.
If I’d paid $9500 for a pair of speakers, regardless of whether they were desktop, bookshelf, stand mount or floor standing towers and the woofers “popped”, maxed out at 80db, I’d return them as unfit for purpose.
Bingo on the Crossover statement, I had in the past the JL Audio CR1 (crossover) in conjunction with ATC speakers and a pair of JL Fathom subs, worked very very well and with a seemless integration
There was A smaller stand Mount You were Very Impressed by a year ago or so. Fink Team Kim i have only heard it over You tube But It sounded Really good and a easy Load to Drive for a Tube Amp. Wonder if you will ever go back and Explore Them. No dealers around here in NY area. Thanks For all Your Hard Work Good Luck Always.
Jay, I’m surprised you never broke out the stands for the A1’s.The Magico’s look funky sitting on the wrong stands. Plus, I think there would have been a benefit sonically. Oh well, still an intriguing comparison anyway. The Big Bad Wolf says “I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I coddle those little baby A1’s”.
A1 with dual subs will never equal an A5. Simply because the midbass woofer on the A1 is not a dedicated midrange driver and has inherently more compromises than the dedicated midrange driver of the A5. Besides, the A5 was the first model to use the aluminum honeycomb midrange driver that was not present on the A1. Also better crossover components.
Well after spending a good deal of time watching your channel for a second time I think I've finally had enough. Firstly small speakers will only not go with your super high end electronics when you think you need to listen at 110db spl. Course its not gonna sound like an AC/DC concert at most likely 120 to 130 db. But thats not far from standing 30 feet away from a jet airplane taking off at 130 to 140 db.85 to 90db is loud as hell in a 15foot by 20footroom. Pick your poison. Secondly the you tube algorythem has an average frequency response of 500 to 8,000hertz. Human hearing is possible from 20 to 20,000hertz. Most humans by the age of 25 are lucky to hear above 15,000 hertz. With the exception of most women who haven't been physically abused by their piece of shit other half. So the majority of men and women can easily hear all the sound the algorythem can put out. No matter how loud you turn it up that's all. So if you think any music over you tube can tell how any piece of equipment really sounds, I've got a piece of swamp land ind Florida you might love also. Thirdlyeven though my first two comments are the honest truth, just check them out if you don't believe me,if you Jay, had hooked up a pair of subwoofers to either of those two standmounts 90 % of your subscribers would have declared them to stomp all over those big Magicos And 20 to 30% of them would have wanted at the very to nuy a pair of those FR-5's or A-5's Whichever they could most easily afford. And you"d of probably made more money than you'll ever make trying to sell those big Magicos. And finally most likely 75 to 90 % of your subscribers could actually afford to buy any of your super high dollar equipment. Sorry to say that but I'm sure you've already seen that. And maybe make almost as much money off you-tube as selling the equipment you buy. Anyway good luck with your chsnnel, hope you eventually make enough money to survive.
Why not try ATC SCM 300 or the latest model above it for comparison with the big Magico loudspeakers? The sonic characteristics will be different but for sure the ATCs will appeal to some of the audiences plus they are cheaper and less imposing in the weight category.
Not so sure those perform at the performance levels touted so loudly. It seems any real questions of improvement s that may be desired is met with hostility and getting comments blocked...rather pathetic no measurements only verbal hype of how great. Do I think they are better than some decent speakers...sure but I highly doubt they part the red sea especially when they rely on a loud mouths afraid of real high performance comparisons
@@davidcross890 . they made out of the best material slate. and if u would find those used wich I highly doubt the price would be close to new.increible resell value. and the speaker overall is the best value by far. I live in ny so I have access to everything.
are you sure its not a tilted up high frequency that leads you to believe they are "more clear"? Another wasted opportunity to not run a quick frequency response test to support what you hear. I know I'm a broken record but you have a unique opportunity with such a huge range of speakers moving through the lab to run some simple tests that can support your listening observations. Ron at New record day and Erins audio corner are leading the way in this area. Blending objective snd subjective evaluation will make us all smarter.
King of the dumbest videos, that make no sense by a guy that clearly has ego issues and a fragile little boy inside trying to compensate so desperately
I doubt it. I listened to Fisher&Fisher in the 30K range when I considered purchasing them. I found Magico A5 and S3 much better, more engaging. They are a very different flavor.
Why these vs when it doesn’t give anything. Off course the bigger and more expensive one’s sounds grater. Only advantage for the small ones is smaller room. By the way, you talk too much 🤣

A1 with those REL Subs vs the big Magicos is the only way to do a real comparison. A1 vs biggies without subs is a joke, let’s be real
Well spoken 👏

Great description, Jay. You're getting better with each video. Thanks Brother!
I like this new strategy of yours to assess price performance ratios

No time man.
If 230k speakers are close to 9.5k speakers which recently polled almost equal to $3500 aspens, which cost about $1k in materials.... This means😅😂 🎉
You can't beat physics! That being said, it would be interesting to bring in the new Acora standmounts.
Both the new Acora's floor & standmounts are amazing!
Nice fill in piece after the FR5 series. Stepping back into the big guys.

You mention db levels often. What filter are you using. A vs C makes at least a 5 or 6 db difference.

Any speaker?
That costs more than a $100000.
Is a waste. hundred thousand dollar audio cables What a joke !
Only a joke because you CANNOT EASILY OWN THEM?
Let’s do this guys
If the woofer is bottom out above 80db, just run a high pass filter and cut off the sub bass. Then low pass a pair of timbre matched subs.

Jay what do you do for a living to afford speakers like that? I need to do what you do🤣🤣
