    I test drove an edrive 40 a week ago. I knew within 10 yards it was the right car for me. I've ordered one and it's due in October!

    In the i4 it will always use the regenerative breaking first and then it will use the actual brakes. Let's say you selected minimum to have that ICE car drive, when doing a fast stop, it will max the regenerative braking first then it seamlessly mixes in the disk can caliper into it for more braking power.
    This means the levels of regenerative breaking you select is more for the feel of the drive rather than something that impacts the actual energy recovery.

      Mine has the stick. I prefer that somehow.

    • @BogeyTheBear
      @BogeyTheBear ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Smith_Tech_70That's because the stick still makes sense with the R-N-D ordering. With the new switch, it can throw you off since you're pushing the switch forward in order to reverse, and pulling it backwards to drive forward.

    • @Smith_Tech_70
      @Smith_Tech_70 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BogeyTheBear but the stick is still pull back for drive, and push forward for reverse.

    • @BogeyTheBear
      @BogeyTheBear ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Smith_Tech_70 Yeah, but when you see the traditional AT shifter you remember that Reverse is above Neutral, and Drive is below. Years, if not decades, of training tells you that.
      It's a light switch now. Flick up/forward to light the Reverse indicator, flick down to light up the Drive. And the switch returns to the middle position after you engage a mode.
      I don't hate it (easier access to the phone cubby and it's impossible to knock the shifter with your drink) but I have gotten it mixed up at least once when I first got the car. The parking assist is what saved me from driving the nose into the garage wall when trying to back out by pulling the switch to the rear.
      I work around the confusion by pretending the switch engages rocket thrusters: You push forward to light off the ones in the nose and propel the car backwards. That's how I keep the switch positions straight in my head.

    What a good review! You dug out a few things there that I haven't seen other people find. I'm getting mine in about two weeks after having one on loan for a day. Very enjoyable car to drive and my only reservation about it is the rear seat space, but since I was originally trying a two-seater Porsche, I just think of the i4 as 2 plus 2. Voice control does work quite well in my experience, but perhaps it depends on your accent.

      Rear space is definitely a concern if you have a family. It is a great car, I tested i4M50, but its rear space is a no-go for me (seats were too low above the floor in normal setup for adult on front seat)

    Literally test drove the i4 e40 today for first time. Pretty impressed with the acceleration for sure, but would love to test it a bit more, as well as test the m50. I’ve heard from many the e40 feels a bit more balanced. I also didn’t get to test any of the advanced options since the car I drove didn’t have all the packages.

      @HanYou2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tested the m50 only and I think it's too much, I could not control the acceleration properly, it's very aggressive compared to my kona. The range is also much lower than the 40
