She uses a lyric from her song "Illume" in here! I love how she references various parts of her other music in her songs. "Like a diamond snake in a black sky"
I find it really sad and almost tragic this song was dropped from the setlist so quickly ... same thing happened when they brought it back out in 2004. Judging by this crowd's response - it was a hit with the crowd even though it was new.
I thank whomever caught this moment in time. I was there that night, third row, right in front of Stevie, it was an incredible concert! Little did I know at that time the impact that song would have on the future -- truly "Destiny Rules".
It is so wonderful to see this song live! BN have something so magical that not everyone have: as impossible as it might be, they sound even better LIVE!
Destiny Rules was only performed live TWO times in 2003. Opening night in Columbus (I was in row 9 !!!) and on the second night of the Say You Will Tour in Pittsburgh; I was also there. What a blessing to have seen both live performances. What a great song. A true rocker. A forgotten classic in the annals of Fleetwood Mac. On the same topic Running Through The Garden was performed ONE time only, on opening night in Columbus. Yes it's a crime that the band won't play the new songs. Such is the reality of popular music and arena shows. They must appeal to the masses by playing "the hits". That's the Biz, unfortunately. If I got any of the facts mixed up here I apologize, it was 16 years ago even though it seems like yesterday. But I do know I saw the first two shows of the tour in 2003 and Destiny Rules was dropped after the second show. Opening night in Columbus in 2003 was also the VERY first time Stevie EVER performed Beautiful Child Live. It was quite a whirlwind night, to put it mildly. Here we see that they put Destiny Rules back into the set on the second leg of the tour in 2004. But it was dropped again on the 2004 leg. I saw the Vegas show in July 2004 and it wasn't in the set. I think I got all that straight... Memories fade... like the wind!
Correct, Destinly Rules was dropped after the second show of the first leg of the tour. It was dropped after the third show of the second leg. Another interesting fact is they played Don't Let Me Down Again on the first night of the second leg, but it was dropped after opening night. I Know I'm Not Wrong replaced Eyes of the World on the second leg, and Red Rover replaced What's the World Coming To. Stevie also started performing Sara again on the second leg, the first time since the 1990 tour for Behind the Mask.
Very good to see that other serious Fleetwood Mac fans say pretty much the same thing - Destiny Rules IS the best song from this album - and there are some other gems as well. I felt that immediately when I got the CD in 2003.
This is so good! I wish they would perform this on the current tour (or the next one for the new album!) The ending is AMAZING. I hope one day a professional video of this song being performed for the Say You Will Tour will see the light of day.
i used to teach people to drive and i used to try and explainthings with word pictures.the lyrics for destiny rules haunt me as they paint such a vivid picture(the coastline is glittering like a diamond snake in a black sky).this is pure genious to say the least.dylan comes out with some pretty memorable stuff but this is pure magic.i was hoping for a song from say you will in the set at new plymouth but alas it wasnt to be.ah well,it was brilliant anyhow .thanks so much stevie
Stevie's poetic imagery is so beautiful. Would anyone else be able to find these words in order to describe and/or depict the way you envisage something? I doubt it. This has Stevie's wonderful signature all over it.
Beautiful outfit Stevie (again) "Petite Princesse" Much Love. My Literary friend thinks the song "Running through the Garden" is based on a short story..Many interesting songs on this album. Deep band. Very inspirational in my Life.
This is my favorite song off Say You Will. I consider this song "Fall From Grace" on Ritalin... or at least the sequel to "Fall From Grace." I actually sang this song a cappella at karaoke one night. Got me the best reaction of the night.
I actually like this arrangement better than the all-acoustic version they played at the beginning of the first leg of the Say You Will tour. This and "Fall From Grace" are my two favorite most recent new Stevie Nicks songs.
I agree. EFO is an amazing song and I would love to hear it live. Thrown Down also. FM definitely needs to incorporate some of their say you will stuff into their next tour. Or Stevie just needs to do them on her own.
oh man i've tried so mnay times to listen to silver girl but it drives me insane! like i've listend to it and i think the written great lyriclly but i jsut can't stand the song. desity rules is one of my favs tho :)
I think the live vocal is better than the recorded one. Unfortunately, the new songs got little or no audience response compared to the hits, and Stevie does not like that. She doesn't give new songs much chance on tour anymore. She does like applause.
Handful of great tracks on Say You Will. This is one of them.
This needs to be performed more often
Hey guess what! Stevie is the poet in MY heart!!!!!!! And she has without question the GREATEST fans EVER!!! ***** Sara Fleetwood
Hi Sara you have a special friend Stevie is a Beautiful lady and has gotten me through a lot with her music. I so much want to meet her someday.
She uses a lyric from her song "Illume" in here! I love how she references various parts of her other music in her songs. "Like a diamond snake in a black sky"
allthatjazzspaz95 very true and the coastal cities reference
The bridge on this song is the second verse in Illume!
One of the best fleeteood Mac songs. I jam constantly, never gets old.
Feeling nostalgic, so came by to watch this..... thank you.
I wish they released this on a live album! One of my favs!
Beautiful. I love Lindsey's playing at the end. And the way they are forever looking over at each other.
I find it really sad and almost tragic this song was dropped from the setlist so quickly ... same thing happened when they brought it back out in 2004. Judging by this crowd's response - it was a hit with the crowd even though it was new.
MaxComeauOfficial ..maybe the "6 wks in a foreign country" ...was too painful to review...(my instinct)
Probably more pressure to perform their classic setlist. It's a shame, Say You Will is a really underrated album.
@@veritasuno3304 I must admit my ignorance - I don't believe I've ever really known what those 6 weeks were referring to. Mick and Stevie's affair?
@@maximecomeau9637 The entire album sounds to me that Stevie & Lindsey had a fling while he was mraried & they were touring (?) just my imaginings..
Stevie sound SO GOOD live ♥️
This is a Great (underknown) album...
Listened to this on a long 3 hr drive really reminded me of my lost Love..:'(

such a great song
one of the best from Say You Will
which is saying a lot, because there are some GREAT tracks on that album
i would so love to see a Buckingham Nicks reform & perform live together; Stevie's songs with Lindsay's arrangements are so awesome
this is awesome, I loved this song live when I saw it thanks for letting me relive!
This song is so good.
This is one of her best written songs ever. Listen to the lyrics and you will know why.

Much Love.

Thanks! I missed that tour! Thanks again Chris.
"Six weeks in a foreign country, how the time flew, I didn't speak the language, but somehow I knew" such a great line
This is my favorite song off Say You Will.

I love it!!
Awesome...thanks!

The Story of my Life. Let one slip away...

This is a fantastic song!
Stevie will always be my welsh witch!
Too bad Christine left the band and wont come back.
great sound urrghh
Ahh back when the two were amiacible

Stevie is perfect so why are you on here if your not
Im amazed.
++Hmmm until everybody finds out ;)++
is this from Columbus, Ohio?
I didn't film it. I ripped it from a bootleg DVD I had.
They should not have taken this out of the set!
Phat outfit.
oh man i've tried so mnay times to listen to silver girl but it drives me insane! like i've listend to it and i think the written great lyriclly but i jsut can't stand the song. desity rules is one of my favs tho :)
She just repeats the chorus at the end. Just following the rules, no ones a fool...
I think the live vocal is better than the recorded one. Unfortunately, the new songs got little or no audience response compared to the hits, and Stevie does not like that. She doesn't give new songs much chance on tour anymore. She does like applause.
