Nice tip on the Muslin thanks. I love it as background and backing. It’s in the back of my first quilt that I sleep under Still after more than 20 years and it keep getting softer! Much nicer than the top. And it shows up your quilting very nicely.
Lovely chat! I love Cat Bird Quilts. Connecting Threads’ basics are fantastic. Their fabric has such a lovely soft silky texture and at less than $10 a yard full price, it is a great value. Their solids are really nice. I like the Faux Tweed Tonals line, because the pattern has enough texture to show up in the finished quilt without being overwhelming. Other basics tend to read completely solid. I also like the Chambray line, which is a little less noticeable but has a great texture. The linen line reads mostly solid even at a 2 foot distance. Their colors are really lovely and rich. They do typically have a great sale for Black Friday, so I am saving up for a basics stock up in case they have a good deal again!
I remember the muslin days. Those were also the days of use any ole fabric for your quilt. I didn't know about designer fabrics until around 2005 or 6. Quilting has changed a lot in my quilting journey. One of my favorite places to buy fabric was down by you. Ben Franklins. I would make the 2 hour drive a couple times a year to get designer fabrics for amazing prices. It was sad to see them go out of business.
I did enjoy Patchwork w/D. And I enjoyed your videos. Now I need to go to Hobby Lobby and check the things you talked about as well as get Christmas Cards.
Hello! I travel regularly (now) from northeast Wisconsin to northern Illinois to check in on my 92 year old mom. My path goes past Beaver Dam, the home of the Nancy Zieman museum. 😊 I finally stopped this past week. Very interesting. I remember watching her on Wisconsin PBS - a real dynamo and pioneer in the DIY genre long before HGTV (and TH-cam)!
I saw the same one, I love Cat Bird quilts too! And I bought some of those too, but I haven't used them yet. I'm anxious to see how the paint pens work.
Ive always been a muslin user too, lol we did use them for backings and sashing and the quilts washed up just fine, i use this still all the time to mock something up and then wind us using the muslin pattern too..hahahaha!so excited to see your berry wreath! Im sure ill be turning part of my tilda into one also, woven hearts is super repetitive but im thinking big picture! (You can do 20 more lol) im in the home stretch on over 70 of the same 6.5 inch block whoooooo🥵lol…im hitting ketovore hard and heavy too..and would love a support buddy if you need one! And can i say something..maybe odd…but not only do I love your videos..i love your sweet soothing voice🙏🏽 you make my day
I use muslin on the back of any wall hangings I make. I also prefer a plain design wall. Some folks have designs on theirs and I have a hard time appreciating their hard work because my eyes get distracted by the board covering or embellishments. To each their own. It’s interesting how different we all can be and share the same passion. Great group to b associated with. All the best. It’s finally cooling down here in sunny AZ. Good Lawd that was a long run of temps at 100 or above. Talk about dry. LOL
Hi, which Jolly Bar book are you using? I want to order some lol. Love your doggie, so cute. I can send you some rain.. been raining since Friday night .. have a wonderful day 😊❤

Same here. I got back into quilting around 2007. Even then I still didn’t fully understand the realm of designer fabrics. I miss Ben Franklins too!

I'm almost caught up with the jolly bar book row quilt blocks. So far I'm loving making them! Can't wait to find out what the next one will be.
Wonderful!
Thanks for the muslin tip. Looks like I need to go to Hobby Lobby lol. Good luck with selling your rental property.

Hmm..I’ve never had that happen, but if you’d send me a photo to the email lessonslearnt2021@gmail.com I’ll try to troubleshoot with you.
