- Hi everyone and welcome to Cruiseful. For today's video we’ll be going over 5 cruise lines that are good for solo travelers. Although you might not think that cruises would be ideal for solo traveling, they’ve been adjusting their ships and itineraries for this rising trend in travel. So in no particular order, here are 5 cruise lines that would be ideal for solo and single travelers.
First off we have Norwegian Cruise Line who has won many awards for being some of the best cruises for solo travelers. Most cruises have staterooms meant for double occupancy but NCL was one of the first cruise ships to introduce solo staterooms called studios. Slightly smaller than your typical staterooms at 100 sq ft, the Studio Staterooms feature a full size bed along with all the other standard amenities found in other staterooms. Another perk of booking a Studio is the added benefit of receiving a private key card to access the Studio Complex and Lounge. This lounge is a shared space and is available exclusively for Studio guests. Similar to a typical lounge you have access to complimentary refreshments throughout the day, big screen tvs, ordering room service and a place to relax and enjoy with other fellow solo travelers. Along with the previously mentioned benefits, NCL also has offshore excursions as well as meet ups geared for solo travelers. Whether you want to join in a pub crawl or take a rope climbing class you’ll find a lot of options to participate in. You can find these accommodations on services on many Norwegian cruise ships including the Bliss, Breakaway, Encore, Epic, Escape, Getaway, Pride of America and their 2 upcoming new ships the Prima and Viva.

The Queen Mary 2 has amazing single cabins with large ocean views. Most or maybe all are 170 + sq feet. All 15 singles cabins are in the middle of the ships public places (restaurants, bars, shops, etc.). They are mid ship. Also, the cabins have 2 story ceilings. Because of all this, the single cabins all sellout VERY early.
It is cheaper to pay double occupancy on an interior cabin compared to a solo room. Plus the interior offers more square footage, a lot more.
Huh dang.. my agent didn't suggest that thanks I booked a solo room Norwegian CL was still near dbl port fees etc but I could try to leverage other amenities that so much! 🎉
You seemed to show lots of cabins that weren’t the solo cabins so it was a bit misleading.
And not all the lounge spaces shown were for solo cruiser spaces.
I’m on a solo cruise soon and have a double occupancy suite. It happens when all the other solos are booked out.
I would add Oceania. They also have a Social Hostess who invited solo travelers to get together for cocktails and/or dinner. Three are also craft-type activities for the ladies on sea days. Easy go be seated at a sharing table also, and smaller ships make it easy to meet other people. Their newest ship, the Vista, added a few solo cabins.

Like 95% of the NCL clips weren’t even the studio rooms or their amenities, just regular staterooms and the main buffet 😂
You said virgin was great for singles because it typically attracts a younger cruisers. Actually, most single cruisers are not in the younger category.
I agree not all young singles can afford a cruise, or they're scared to go solo. Older single cruisers can do it much more easily.
Celebrity not anymore. They hate solo travelers. At times, the price for a single versus a double can be 1,000s of dollars more.
You also have Holland America new ships offering solo ocean view cabins on their new ships.

Perhaps this video was made quite a while ago, but many, many age 50+ solo travelers take cruises on Virgin Voyages. VV really has something for everyone, not just for people under 40.
Virgin is excellent for solo travelers, they have solo get together's where I met quite a few solo travelers, there was about 30 in attendance. 4 women and I did dinners/an excursions etc. Celebrity also has solo nights, but hardly anyone in attendance when I was there, two women and I met and had drinks on a few nights.I'm gay so women and I click well..lol
Video does not accurately depict the studio amenities, i.e. studio lounge is shown as the standard buffet food court
Hope the cruise companies offer more accommodations for the solo travelers. No one wants to pay double occupancy prices for a single person.

Why don't creators sail on luxury lines like Oceania, Azamara or Regal? These cruise lines are great for mature solo travelers. I've been sailing solo for over 30 years, and don't always pay extra.
I agree with Suzie. Even Silversea offers sometimes solo fares that are not double the price. In my opinion these other lines with smaller ships are often a better choice for solo travelers ( if you can afford them).

Royal is simply horrible for solo cruisers. Royal does not keep track of or recognize solo travelers. I strongly object to your recommendation of Royal Caribbean for solo cruisers. I just sailed (March 17, 2023) Royal's Navigator of the Seas as a solo traveler. The Only offering to solo cruisers was a Self Led 30 minute gathering at the R Bar at 8PM each night. The MDR was a disaster. My 3 requests to be seated with other solo travelers were ignored. I made these requests at the time of booking (and my request was on my reservation). Secondly, the MDR was my first stop in the late morning shortly after boarding to reiterate my request, and lastly, upon arrival at the MDR the first night. Worse, I was seated with a family of 7 and 1 other couple made up the table of 10. Eventually, I gave up and sat by myself.
I'm sorry to hear that. I plan to do an updated one as I heard more cruise lines are providing solo traveler accommodations so hopefully that means also more activities and dining options for solo cruisers

Just subscribed. Went on NCL years ago. They provide an inferior product. Went on a RCCL cruise years ago also. They also provide an inferior product. Virgin Cruises seems interesting. Took a voyage on Cunard a few years ago. Does not live up to the billing it gets. Celebrity provides a good product. Also, Princess is good, but, the single supplement is to the high side. Like the line though. We had a Princess Cruise booked when my wife passed away.
I’ve always gone solo on Disney cruises. I don’t mind paying for and having an entire cabin to myself. I don’t want to save money if it means being in a closet. Not bad if you want to save money though.

I am an avid solo cruiser, across several cruise lines. To date, Disney Cruise Line has been my favorite cruise line for Spa vacations. From Beach Cabana massages to swings in the Rainforest Rooms, DCL provides excellent experiences.
@crystalmorgan5237 isn't DCL more geared towards families, especially ones with younger children??? I haven't cruised with them as my other family members have & that was my impression. I'd prefer to hear from another solo cruiser so thank you for your input.
Any specific line suggestions for over 50 singles?

I did an NCL from New Orleans in January 2023 and was great with lots of people solo traveling in my age range. I'm 53
100 sq ft is 10ft x 10ft . That's the size of my bathroom. Seems small for a room.
Many smaller homes (on land) have secondary bedrooms that are 8 ft x 10 ft. That's enough room for a twin bed, night stand, and chest of drawers.
You have a very large bathroom if you live single!

This has very much an American bias and apart from Cunard does not mention any British cruise lines. Marella put on activities for single travellers so that they can meet other solos. P+O which I have yet to sample do likewise. What I am looking forward to is the tradition dining which means that I can meet others each evening to discuss the day. Have chosen to go on a table of 8.
You have great information but the video content doesn't match what you're talking about. I've been on many cruises and even as a Solo traveler and this is not it.
