In order to play, we had to set it to at least high resources or start in Feudal. The only way to sustain an economy was with trade and buying wood for farms.

Regarding the discussion at 30:32, Spirit of the Law has a video on the trip distance vs gold amount and the result is that the longer trip is more efficient.
it also helps that longer trade route can handle more carts before jamming due to traffic, since less space is taken up by markets so more space can be taken by carts

really nice video! the ending was still not bad, seeing yellow be welcomed with a full salute to teal's resplendent base, the only one that survived undamaged, with towers guarding the walls built with stone donated by yellow. It's all so poetic.
T90 is becoming the old man in his chicken story... Constantly retelling us about the time he stayed up late, was the only one at work, and got called chicken.
Blue, what a throw... of course the monastery should have been further back, but it also could and should have been making superb value warrior priests (a. k. a. the second cheapest melee unit in this scenario after eagles, which are not even nearly as sturdy)
The only thing I wish with Exploding Kings would be the last king to die not having the explosion timer. Game ending on the final frame of everything exploding would be really funny.
T 90 has some really good stories. His boring stories are also top tier. I always imagine myself in those stories and it takes ne back to the old days. (Sorry for the bad Grammer/english my first language is not english 😅)

Agree, its not the sort of game that Id want to see regularly, but it was fun to see the ghia market actually explode therefore removing one cnr for trade and the whole relic dynamic. Always up for 'chicken story' so tx for sharing
the diagonal distance vs the side to side distance is a Pythagoras problem. so diagonal is square root of 2 times longer or 1.41 times the length of side to side distance. highschool was so handy if you hate real life

when i was young i let my little sister bury me in the sand on vacation like we often see on tv ... turn out there are nasty thing in there i got stung on the foot by some kind of parasite who laid eggs :D this became the itchiest thing ever and over time you would see them hatch inside my skin and start making their way on the upper foot area like worms. this whole thing lasted like 6 month and i had to see a dermatologist who had to make somekind of special cream and then it still took a while too heal while it would hitch soo much i would wake up in the night to scratch my foot dont play in the sand too much friends i was super lucky i got stung on only a toe
I'm surprised nobody chose Spanish. The trade bonus + missionaries would dominate! With those market prices, You could YOLO missionaries and convert all the production buildings! Even if it costs you 20 missionaries per converted building, that's still less than the cost of 100 wood at those market prices. That and the 25% more gold per trip would snowball pretty quickly
hi t90, I know this is free content, and I only mean well, but I do have a request. As you know, many people fall asleep to this content, but I have trouble painting the field in my mind sometimes when the popular players (masty, saly, serge, you know the folks) are named instead of by their player colour. Other less known players are often called by their colour, but I often have to open my eyes to recall what colour someone is on. It might just be me and my own problem to deal with, and might sound.. overly demanding from but one viewer. But if you don't ask you don't get? Also I know I havent commented much, but I've been watching now for... I'm not sure really. Tis only a small gripe, this content is great and I thank you and your community for putting on a show for our entertainment. All the best!

I also love people with boring voices like John Michael Godier and then there's certain albums that make me sleepy like whirr - pipe dreams and sound of ceres - emerald sea. Another idea is looking up recaps or explained videos of tv/anime/movies media already watched. For me Marvelous Anime does it (when it's the American's turn, the one with the deep monotone voice)

If you could find a way to mod the map so that trade carts gives you a little of every resource and then do another trade nothing I think that could be really interesting. Same tactics, but without the trade prices restricting everything so heavily.

Surprised Orange didn't make towers. Japan has some pretty deadly towers and they're much cheaper than castles. Even if being attacked by trebs they could keep trebs away from a castle at least for a while.

they should have farmed. people forget that farms give 10 times their cost in food. So unless wood is 6 or 7 times more expensive to buy than food, it is better to just farm for it.

A cool twist might be that you cant delete trade carts after you make them- would Give the players a Hard decision to make re how many carts to produce - if they overproduce, they’ll never have army, and then the less boomed players can kill them. You would have to balance carefully. Downside is it would make the game a lot longer lol
Maybe action would be incentivized if you get massive resources for conquering someone? Or their king turns to a relic? Or everyone starts with a relic (which you can conquer from others). Right now it was regular slow trade nothing + you may lose everything even if you attack a weak player.

I like trade nothing, is always fun to have something crazy. But it end it up being quite boring. It was just a Masty controlling the hole game, you always knew who would die next. Dont think blue did bad, is just that he needed to guarantee an allie before trying that, and anyways Masty just knew, so I doubt it would have worked unless more players were against Masty.
It’s boring because they spend an hour doing nothing because they have nothing. Forest Nothing is fun because there are actual strategies besides “Buy wood, queue cart” If the market prices were kept mildly stabilized it would be significantly faster and more engaging, without ruining the spirit of the Nothingness.
i understand that the further the market the greater the gold trade, but, is the time the same? i mean going from corner to corner may give more gold in the cart than going to a closer market, but a closer market has less travel time...
Outside of Saracens Teutons are clearly the best civ for these settings. Not even remotely close. Monks (& conversion resist), castles, siege reliability, melee are extremely valuable in this scenario, as well as ranged wood units being very weak. Additionally Teutons can actually farm for a period in the mid game profitably. Maybe Turks (food/gold janissaries) or Spanish (faster firing gunpowder/trade bonus) but Teuton melee survivability is just better with limited food resources.
To me this was awsome and I'm kind of sad that it felt painfull to t90 and he probably wont show such a game again. I mean it was something speacial - at least to me. I very much like the fact that teal won the game. This player was focusing on building a nice looking base while others tried to be smart and strategic. I've heard of relic-victory or wonder-victory but this was a cuteness-vicory in my opinion.
I've been watching and playing age for a long time now i when T90 said something about sun burns on the cart villager it made me realize that it's always daytime. It's never nite. I can't believe I never noticed/thought about that lol

Blue totally could pull that off (or at least have a good chance of winning) if he only would have built a second monastary after the first one got damaged hard, but the second one should have been as far into the corner ass possible with a crap ton of defenses surrounding it. furthermore having a mangonel or 2 standing between the castles to do some tactical hits on trebs once they stard breaching the defenses... Blue could have pulled it off!
The best part of this game mode is how the end game slows to a crawl, as armed convoys scour the map like Mad Max looking for remaining markets to trade with or destroy Edit: WHAT, indestructible gaia markets?

yes, the amout of gold grows exponentially dependant on the lenght of the trip.

They could take the monks to convert defeated players units. There were a lot of champions in the middle or paladins in east.
