    I bought one 2 years ago, and it's amazing i added some samples sounds from other keyboards and i love my Korg Nautilus one thing im bug is the no Aftertouch but korg came out with the Aftertouch version. Love my Nautilus

      Send for free, but expecting it to be returned.
      Yamaha gave him it's competitor, the MODX.
      We can see what company is more serious about marketing their synth.

    • @WoodyPianoShack
      @WoodyPianoShack  3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      actually, I offered to return it. I regularly get new synths in, and some have to go to make room. I don't have time to play them all. and it doesn't feel right to sell gear that's been donated. i'm making videos anyway, so it's great to feature new synths without me having to buy them. it's basically free rental and everyone wins, me, the brands and the audience. perhaps when korg release something new, then I'll trade up!

      Wish Korg would donate to me😂😂
      Had to sell a kidney to buy my Oasys and Karma but worth it 😀👍
      I’m not sure about Nautilus, look very bland to me, repackaged i3 with Oasys lettering and no karma?? Hmm 🤔
      Anyways, hope u enjoy.

    Great overview. My first synth was the classic M1. The Nautilus is the M1 of the 21st century and is a joy to play!

    • @LeonelMartinez150
      @LeonelMartinez150 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      To be honest ive use a M1 before and the M1 kills the Nautilus in sound quality and the fact that it has Aftertouch. I love my Nautilus but vintage keyboard like the M1 01w roland D50 Yamaha Dx7 the korg N264/364 and many other vintage keyboard are way better in sound quality. You know what they say the quality of the vintage keyboard sound better then most modern keyboards.

    Excellent job on the review. The smooth sound transition is definitely on the Kronos as well and a great feature at that. I love to be able to change sounds on the fly while sustaining the strings and the switch to a lead sound without a dropout! Glad to see the Nautilus keeps this great feature.

    This is a nice surprise by Korg. I realy like the fresh new design and it also seems to have the build quality that Korg is known for. Most importantly, I liked almost everything I heard and I would choose a good arpeggiator over Karma anytime. But that is personal obviously. @@iosyn5896 Listen to Woody’s report on the build quality and the materials used. The top panel is aluminium and the whole curved bottom section is a thick sheet of solid aluminium. I had two Korg arrangers and they were build like a tank, much like the Triton was. I know the Kronos is also a solid piece of gear.

This is a welcome addition, especially as it's a bit less saving. I can't swear that this is what I would go for, but it certainly appeals.

      This is a great review, as always¡¡¡ It calls my attention that many people prefer a keyboard over another just for the piano sounds. Come on¡¡¡ if you own a kronos or this keyboard, you know you can edit the sounds the way you want. Nine engines, a powerful sequencer, karma, 12 insert effects, you can combine up to 16 sounds, wave sequence¡¡¡¡¡ I tell you this, there is no other workstation tha can do so much as Kronos and in second place, this new keyboard, nor modex, nor Roland fantom or nord stage, period. If what you want is a piano that sounds well, buy a stainway.

    That’s a cool synth! This could well be a serious competitor to the MODX. Like the design of it, reminds me of the M1 but then for the 2020’s. The pop out buttons are a nice touch. Interresting that it has a midi-through port, you don’t see that very often anymore. The Piano sounds are a nice and dynamic sounding. I wonder if the Nautilus supports USB controllers, appearantly the Kronos does.

    Woody you're one of the most entertaining reviewer I've ever seen: while you play a keyboard your face is better than any other star-based evaluation system :-D .. this Nautilus deserve more in dept research... at first sight it remember me a lot of my Krome (yes Krome has less synth engines) but these specific Korg choices (less Knobs, less display, less button, ....) feel like a deja-vù!. I own also a Yamaha Modx7 that make me feel like a baby in a toycenter every time a dig into the enormous options offered by that Yamaha synth-beast... A comparison in my opinion is not needed... too much distance between this 2 machines.. and I'm very pleased that Korg did not choose to develope an anti-Modx clone or similar... Korg and Yamaha are always on my hearth (and on my setup), each for their specific distinctive strength points. Keep going well with these reviews Woody. Many thanks! :)

      thanks for the awesome comment luca! it's a huge step up from the krome i think, in build quality, keys, sounds & features. although the krome does have much more proper buttons :) you carry on enjoying your modx, you're right, there is so much to explore there too!

If what you want is a piano that sounds well, buy a stainway.

    the USB A can also be used for another MIDI controller like Korg nanoKontrol2 to control programs with faders, or another keyboard.
    Also, where are the Farfisa/Vox engines

    Hi, could I use the nautilus as an arranger? or it be better suited een de Pa700 or PA1000? Wich one will be a better option as arranger?

      No you can't it is not an arranger keyboard it's a Workstation but if you want to use sequence then yes go for the Nautilus but if you want to switch chords and use one rhythm for multiple song go for any Pa series Keyboard that can read Samples sounds and rhythm

    So this a strip down from the Kronos with some added features just as how the MODX is a strip down from the Montage?

    • @projectgoatse
      @projectgoatse 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Somewhat. The MODX is exceptionally crippled whereas the Nautilus isn’t. MODX doesn’t let you do smooth sound transitions unless you keep your multi voice count to 3. And polyphony is ridiculously limited - I couldn’t layer a piano, organ and pad without severe voice stealing happening and that made it useless to me for live performance. Nautilus removes Karma and a bunch of physical controllers but replaces them with touchscreen controls. That’s it.

    How is the Key bed feel ??. Is it Sturdy like the kronos 61 or very light as krome 61,Modx 61..

      @yeoldmedic7572 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is my one reserve. Looking at kronos synth action it looks much more premium . the nautilus black keys look a tad stumpy . hmmmmm. At this point its new samples vs a better keybed, more controlls, and a big screen

    Nice presentation Woody. If it had aftertouch I would probably go for one but a little pricey without. Surprised Korg are still sticking with Combi and Program Modes when Roland and Yamaha of gone down the Performance route.

      hi kevan, i'm grateful for this, the "everything is a performance" does my head in, especially when combining multi-performance performances into a multi-timbral performance, your head is surely hurting too now :)

      @@WoodyPianoShack Just to let you know that on the back of this video I considered getting a Nautilus but found a brand new Kronos 61 for the same price. Just in the process of creating some similar performances from my MODX into Combis. It seems more time consuming to bring the insert effects across from program mode to combi mode, but it can be done. Really looking forward to getting to grips with Kronos though.😊

    Thank you so much for this review !
    Your videos are over the top !
    I never had a Workstation and I would like to buy one of these. According to you, what's the best alternative between the brand new Nautilus and an used Kronos for the same price in 2022 ?
    Also, the smoothness of the Kronos touch screen seems to me to be better than the Nautilus. On the Nautilus it seems to be a little bit lagging. Is this an impression or a reality?
    Best regards

    • @WoodyPianoShack
      @WoodyPianoShack  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thank you, you see right, the screen is very laggy at times, the CPU trying to keep up! don't have much experience of kronos to know if it's the same issue, but the screen is bigger, which is very important. don't forget to checkout fantom and fantom-0 before making decision.

    • @-Anthony.C-

      You confirm what I thought. It doesn't make sense. Why remove all the controls from the Kronos if it's going to be an unpleasant touch screen to use...
      And yes, the Kronos screen is bigger and it also seems to work better, maybe not the same CPU? We'd need feedback from people who own both.
      Finally, thanks for the advice, the Roland Fantom is exceptional, it clearly has the best sequencer, as well as being very easy to use. But I don't like the Roland sounds... I much prefer Korg on this point.

    Considering how the Montage edges the Kronos when it comes to authentic-sounding guitar sounds of all types, here’s hoping those have been addressed in what looks to be a significant voices update. 🤞🏾 🤞🏾

    • @madness8556
      @madness8556 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly I don't think that Korg has significantly improved the quality of its lacklustre acoustic and electric guitar programs which aren't really much improved from those in my 1995 Trinity! Their PA series arrangers have phenomenal guitar programs so Korg obviously have the ability to improve these sounds but choose not to for some strange reason! Perhaps they're frightened that sales of their PA strangers would be affected, who knows?

  • @madness8556
    @madness8556 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the Nautilus also take over 2 minutes to boot up like the Kronos does?
    Does the Nautilus' built in sequencer have a piano roll editor like in the M3 and Krome that was sadly lacking in both the Oasys and Kronos sequencers? Are the factory guitar programs (both acoustic and electric) a big step forward from the average mid to late 90s rompler type sounds in the Kronos factory sounds? Both Roland and Yamaha have left Korg for dead when it comes to decent keyboard based guitar sounds IMHO. What a pity that there's no aftertouch, but I can see this being a huge seller for Korg if the price is right.
