The Abandoned 1950's Pink Diner that was left behind Mysteriously

  • Once the jazz music faded away and the ovens turned off, this diner has sat in silence for decades. This Pink Diner didn't have much history online, but resides in small American town. With tables having plates left behind on tables, the menu still up and everything left, it feels this location is out of the apocalypse. We believe closure occurred after a fire in the kitchen. Leaving the ceiling damaged from fire and water damage. That ceiling damage led to the rapid decay of this small town diner. Leaving what is here today as a sitting time capsule. If you enjoy the video, leave a thumbs up, and subscribe for my explorations.

Exactly what I was thinking. It's about the exploration itself and the atmosphere not the staged drama.
It is about life's fading in time. Time proving it's point by being irrelevant. What has to happen will happen no matter what. It is just wonderful.

For what it's worth, the diner may be from the 1940's, actually.
Check out Rosie's Diner in Rockford, MI (originally located in New Jersey before being shipped to Michigan), it was opened in the 40's and has the exact same backsplash along the kitchen. Closed in 2011 so in far better shape than this one. Looking at photos of other legit 1940's diners, many of them have the same backsplash design as well... though it's possible that the panels were a standard remodel across numerous diners sometime in the 50's, I'm willing to bet that this diner here was built in the 40's.

The certificate from the local health department on the wall behind the counter likely had the date issued and/or the date it would expire. This could be used to roughly date the time of abandonment.
It’s interesting to see the unfinished bowl of chili that was likely left by a customer fleeing the fire that caused this place to become abandoned.
As to the question of what type of diner food is my favorite, diner breakfast food is the best. I also like diner hamburgers, chili, milkshakes, and ice cream.

I just talked to a friend who deals with movie props and he said its very common for them to leave something like this behind. Not saying this was just a prop, but a lot of things like this are slapped together then left behind. Unless you find a name and info on it there is a chance its just a prop. Even the large RV for Jurassic park were left to rot until somebody found and restored it.

It really is. Even though some time has passed since watching this show, it is still bothersome. We had a place exactly like this one just a few miles from our house. We went there often for lunch, and it was usually busy. Then one day out of the blue, we walked up to the front door and it was locked. No sign about being closed. Look completely normal and clean inside. It is still on the corner, untouched, and never reopened. That was about eight to eleven years ago. It's so sad anytime we drive past the place. Just like the diner in this show.

I've been trying to figure out who the artist was, it's signed "B. Sienkiewicz." My guess is that it's Bill Sienkiewicz, a comic book artist who's worked for Marvel and DC, but I haven't been able to confirm it or learn anything about the picture. Saw compact fluorescent lights. So those had a big push in the early to mid 2000’s. Then fizzled out with the LEDs in around 2015 or so?

Really interesting but I would have liked to see somemore of the exterior. I think if there was a fire you would smell it.

Exactly there is no fire damage or soot even if there's just a little fire there's always blackness and the ceiling would have been completely blackened.

It's sad to see a restaurant go out of business, back around some 20 years ago people were nostalgic for 1950s style things, hence the dinner, but now they all want things from the 80s and 90s...

I see evidence of fire here and there, but the interior looks (relatively) intact. I'm guessing this was a roof fire that then rained charred bits down all over everything? Great find, sad to see it, though.

    • @ByGraceIGo
      @ByGraceIGo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Evidence? There's no soot on anything. Even if it was just a small fire the ceiling would be completely black. From my own experience.

There couldn’t have been very many servers in such a small place. So I’m assuming they each got a number for the day. When their food was up the cooks lit up the number to let them know.

This is creepy as hell. Yeah. I definitely can see why you wanted to document it. :) Creepy and just...IDK...sad. Great find and great work!!!
I wonder how long it has been abandoned? It is hard to tell for sure. I get the heebie jeebies from this diner more than almost anything I have watched on here (YT). Damn. I can still hear the dishes clanking and the grill sizzling...
I like liver and onions (I Know I KNOW! I can hear y'all groaning at that!) and milkshakes. :)

Someone mentioned that it opened a 1956 and closed in 2005 but they didn't give any more details.
