This was my introduction to VoicePlay and I was immediately hooked. Especially from the theatrics and then that last note. Some people say Geoff is the gateway drug into VoicePlay 😅❤
It's true!!! I saw sixteen tons first and I thought Holy Smokes!!!! And then Oogie Boogie's Song came next in my feed and that was it!!! I've been hooked!!! That was three years ago and I never want to stop hearing the guys!!!!
Santa was played by Geoff’s brother in law. They love collaborating with family and friends. Great reaction. If you want to hear more of Geoff’s range you should check out his covers of I see fire, dreaming of a white Christmas, high and dry or house of the rising sun. Great reaction.
Did you hear those insane notes he hit in the background when Layne was singing “add a little spice”? If you want to hear Geoff show off his high range again, check out “Hellfire”, from Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame”. When he hit the highs in that song, it was like a punch to the gut. Then he drops to the lows. That song is phenomenal.
@@bucketofsunshine6366 I absolutely love Hellfire. I personally feel Oogie Boogie is unique in that Geoff puts down 4 octaves and everything in between all within 10 seconds. I feel it is more jaw dropping than all the other jaw dropping Geoff moments! IMHO
VoicePlay has a new Christmas song this morning. Jingle Bell Rock - Mean Girls (VoicePlay feat. Adriana Arellano), Geoff also has a new Christmas this morning. BLUE CHRISTMAS - Elvis Presley (Low Bass Singer Cover by Geoff Castellucci).
Sebs, in the history of TH-cam reactions, there has never been a **more perfectly timed bump of the desk!** For a few seconds, I 100% thought you had added the camera shake in post as a joke about how low Geoff’s last note was… but nope, nothing but the practical effects around here! 😂
I'm laughing like one of Oogie's minions! He is so fantastic!!! And my favorite part is when he goes all the way down from such a high note.😁 If you haven't seen his High &Dry video yet, I totally recommend it. It's pared down. It's just Geoff without his clones and it just leaves you wanting more.
Oh, you made this exactly how I felt the first time I heard that last note! Your reaction at that was *chef's kiss* perfect. And yeah, that's him. He has crazy range! Thanks so much!
Treadmill reactions were fun, but not a good idea for VP or Geoff - if he falls over in shock we'll be down one reactor, and we don't want that, now, do we? 🤣
It is one of my favourite Hobbys watching people falling in love with voiceplay and Geoff 😆🫶 My first time hearing this? It was like a spiritual awakening. It was the first voiceplay Song I heard. Thanks to spotify shuffle
This was also MY first exposure to VoicePlay (and Geoff). The rabbit hole is DEEP!!! Get your spelunking gear and dive in! As good as this is, I don't put it in my top 5 for VoicePlay. Maybe top 10. If you told me I could ONLY listen to ONE a cappella group for the rest of my life, I would be shattered. When I recovered, I think it would be a toss-up between VoicePlay and Voctave. I LOVE Pentatonix and Home Free, but if I could only have ONE??? Anyway, great reaction! you CLEARLY enjoy this group!!
This song was called the "first commercially viable use of subharmonics." For a long time this was the go to song to introduce reactors to Voiceplay cause Geoff just destroys people with that last sequence and it's amazing to watch.
Geoff is Oogie Boogie, Layne is Grinch, Eli is Santa Claus and Cesar is Buddy the Elf in their new Christmas video Jingle Bell Rock-Mean Girls. Geoffs new Christmas video is Blue Christmas.
Geoff is truly amazing. Try listening to Tim Foust singing "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/ Stay " . Both of these gentlemen have like 5 octave ranges
If you like to conquer yourself again with a more 'common' (not so "Musical-like') performance of Geoff where he showcases his range in another great way, I recommend "I see fire" (Orig. by Ed Sheeran, known from 'The Hobbit - Desolation of Smaug'). For me it's one of the most beautiful and impressive songs/arrangements by Geoff until now. 👍
"What a douchebag" lmao. I've never heard him called that before just for singing. That was a great reaction, and look forward to going through more of your reactions. I think when I started listening to Voiceplay this was one of the first ones for me. Was astounding to hear him sing between so many octaves.
I’m still laughing my ass off at your reaction to this!!! I’m not joking I can barely type this I’m still laughing so hard!!!😂😂😂 Your ending reaction, “DOUCHEBAG!..” was the final straw, and the best laugh I’ve had in a long time!🤣🤣🤣 TYSM!!!👍👏👏👏
This was the first VoicePlay production my husband and I saw, and remains his favorite over a year later. 😊 It is most definitely an impressive display of Geoff's range, as well as of the other guys' talents, an overall treatment to VoicePlay's vocal awesomeness. Thanks for reacting to it!
Both VoicePLay and Geoff have new videos for Christmas just released. Geoff has a five octave range from A0 to A#5. And that's official. And we love it.
I think that between VoicePlay and Geoff's solo work, they've covered every song in this movie. Here's the latest one, Jack's Lament. th-cam.com/video/TLvtw4nXou0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=p3fZkGRdB8-uxqwl
I started singing and went toward guitar, bass, banjo, and other stringed instruments. Been a bass vocalist for over 30 years, but have played as a musician more. Never liked acappella or theater, however... VoicePlay changed my view on both.
This song was my start with geoff and voiceplay. When you want to explore more of his Range, I woul recommend Voiceplay´s cover of the song "Enemy" or Geoffs Version of "High and Dry" on his Channel.
The fact that him and Tim sing with such control and depth in a 5+ octave range is disgusting in the most unfair glorious way possible. I agree with seb that you respect the talent while hating how gifted these guys are just cause it isn't fair too us common mortals
So this last note was an E0 subharmonic and by far not his lowest. Apparently, this mans can hit anywhere from A0 (non-musicians take a wild guess at where this note can be found on a contrabass, a 4-string bass guitar, a 5-string bass guitar, a piano, etc.) to F1 in subharmonics (he can go lower in vocal fry but it kinda stops sounding like a note and more like really fast clicking), chest voice starts at F#1, head voice goes up to A5 at least, he didn't try to go higher in order not to "strain his voice too much", can probably push himself to somewhere in the 6th octave. This is technically not the widest vocal range a living human possesses worldwide (there is one guy from Kazakhstan who can hit a D8 on a good day), but definitely the widest bass voice I have ever heard, pretty sure other famous bass singers can't sing soprano. I definitely recommend watching other songs from them for even more range, no spoilers but his parts can get even wilder than here.
Home Free and VoicePlay are my favorite acapella groups. Tim from Home Free and Geoff from VoicePlay are the best basses and both have incredible ranges.
I love that you have discovered Voiceplay. They are my favorite of accapella groups. They are incredible musicians, arrangers, actors, and producers. Keep the reactions coming. Oh and BTW, Eli is short for Eliezer so it’s pronounced like Ellie.
If you like Layne’s arrangements you should react to Hall of the Mountain King. No lyrics, but he still tells a story with the setting, costumes, makeup and voices. (Watch and hear their voices change each time they sample the brew.). Pure Layne fever dream genius!
At the time, this song required Geoff's full range, highest to lowest. He's since learned to sing even lower. Try Valhalla Calling, where J.None joined them again while on leave from the Navy. I like Geoff's solo, Folsom Prison Blues.
Geoff's range is 5 octaves - A0 growl in Enemy, Bb0 subharmonic, F1 full chest in Whiskey in the Jar, around F4 head/chest mix, Bb5 in Peaches (short).
This was so awesome! Voice Play does it yet again! You need to react to Geoff's solo video Blue Christmas. It is amazing! Check out Home Free. They to have a low bass. He has a 5-octave range Love your reaction! ♥
React to "MISTY MOUNTAINS"Peter Hollens and Tim Foust, tim is bass for home free. I think u will like it Tim comes in very low with the bass,i love the song how they sing it
Great reaction! This was the first VP song I heard - and love it every time I hear it. Don't be hatin' lol - we are all gifted in our own ways - and we are lucky Geoff is able to share his skills and that he is a kind person and family man. Watch his videos on their battle for a child and the new challenges of his wife's hearing loss. We all have our journey. Check out Jingle bell Rock - its new!
If you want to hear a unique guitarist, check out Mother Maybelle Carter!!! She could play the melody AND the rhythm at the same time!!! Her playing is called "The Carter Scratch"!!!
If you want, there's a LIVE version of this song. Audio quality isn't THAT good, but it's enough to confirm both the high and low range of Geoff's singing... Including both the highest notes and the "subterranean", final E1. 🙂 You'll find it here: th-cam.com/video/_HwUxb-DDw4/w-d-xo.html There are others from a different night, but this seems to me to have the best video/audio quality. 🙂
Dude, just in case nobody’s clued you in, Geoff’s got a 5-OCTAVE vocal range! Just like Tim Foust Of Home Free! They can both sing as high as a penthouse, or as low as a sub-sub basement!

You could go to bass Tim Foust's solo channel and watch "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow / Stay." That's some impressive range, too.

If you want to hear a bass hit some range check out Tim Foust do his solo doo-whop stuff like his Stay/Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow cover he does all parts and you can really hear the range from highs to lows its crazy!!
😂 You need to start into his solo work. He does most of his songs in four and five part harmonies- and covers ALL the parts himself. Any of them are worth the listen, but Jack’s Lament has some serious showing off.
