    I'm from Sri Lanka, and just to let you guys know that India is one of the biggest producers of Motorbikes in the world, and not just cheap ones. They have a lot of engineering expertise building a plethora of motorbikes. I don't ride, but I love bikes, and loved the review. They also build BMW, Mercedes and other premium cars in India with fantastic fit and finish as well. That's the beauty of a Global economy.

    Thanks for your analysis! Living at 18° North, I rode my used 2003 BMW Scarver almost every day from 2005 'till 2017. I wasn't a good owner & I gave it away in 2018 for 300€ while I replaced it with a single cylinder 660cc Yamaha MT03, not the newer 320cc twin cylinders MT03 😃😃😃 My 2010 MT03 has the same single cylinder engine as the famous Yamaha TENERE (2008-2016).

    thank you for your beautiful honest review. I chose this over the grom. I just dont think the grom is going to fit me well, i really feel like im going to outgrow the grom. I meed a bike for normal work commutes but sometimes i dont want to put miles on the car and need to drive 120 miles. I think this would make a 120 mile trip beautiful.

    This is made in India but I am still waiting for it's launch in India. Some say that the demand it will generate in India will be so high that the number of units manufactured at TVS factory won't be able to keep up with the the demand. Hence, they are making more bikes before the launch can take place. Seems it will be Q1 2018 in India.
    And very nice vid Sam, liked it.

    • @kukajin9560
      @kukajin9560 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most people would recommend something “not so fun” like a Honda rebel. But I think this is a perfect bike in the “sport” category. It doesn’t have nearly have as much power as other bikes since it’s a 300cc single cylinder. But it’ll last you a few years while you’re learning

  • @kylebernard1025
    @kylebernard1025 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Curious of comparing this with the Honda cb300f. I’m about to purchase my first bike, and I’m between these two models. Thoughts?

    • @TadpolCreative
      @TadpolCreative  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kyle Bernard Disclaimer: I no longer work for BMW but I have no ill will towards the brand. Having said that -the Honda is far more reliable BUT has a shorter warranty. The likelihood of having to use a Honda warranty is small where as the quality control on the Indian built G310Rs I’ve ridden have been spotty at best. A first bike should be bulletproof and forgiving so I would personally suggest the 300f. The G310R is tall for a first bike, the clutch is hard to use even for an experienced rider, and I don’t believe the build quality is anywhere near a Honda. Ride them both, find out which you like more. Either way - ride safe.

    • @TadpolCreative
      @TadpolCreative  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The BMW G310R comes with a stock rear sprocket of 40 teeth and a front pinion of 16 teeth. In order to achieve that speed you would need to add 2 teeth to the front and subtract 2 from the rear. It would be 18 teeth in the front and and 38 on the rear sprocket. Good luck!

  • @leyangyu9160
    @leyangyu9160 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! You mentioned basically everything that beginners are looking for, handling, appearance, sitting position...etc. I wanna have a bike recently. Just a lil bit worrying about G310R’s rear seat, it’s molded like there is not much room for the pillion. How does it feel actually? Is it capable of taking two passengers? I guess in inner-city travels it goes fine, what about travels for town to town and, say long- time traveling?

    • @TadpolCreative
      @TadpolCreative  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't tell you for sure but I don't personally believe that will happen. The new G310GS should cover most of those aspects. If I had to guess... a G310RR might make sense to compete with the small displacement sport bikes of other brands.

    Maintenance cost?

    • @TadpolCreative
      @TadpolCreative  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's going to vary depending on the dealer, the milage, and how well you maintain your motorcycle. This motorcycle is covered by BMW's 3-year 36,000 mile warranty so there's nothing to worry about should anything go wrong. I don't have numbers in front of me for each service interval but I can tell you that it should be in line with other manufacturers for sub 400cc single cylinder motorcycles. I encourage you to search forums and research the cost of maintenance - it's a very important factor when choosing a motorcycle. Thanks for watching & ride safe!

      @TadpolCreative  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BMW is known for making tall motorcycles - even though this motorcycle is on the smaller side. We have many customers of all sizes who ride our tallest motorcycles. It all comes down to how comfortable you are on the motorcycle. I can tell you that this motorcycle is very lightweight and seat height shouldn't stop you from experiencing it. Go to your local dealer and throw a leg over- that's the only real way of knowing! Thanks for watching.

    • @georgeklimes7604
      @georgeklimes7604 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TadpolCreative One suggestion and a question: Please specify your height, weight, inseam, etc when doing reviews so one can better get an idea if a bike will work. I am 6'3" and 240 with a 35 inch inseam. The BMW G310R looks great on paper, but I fear I might be too big (I also have size 17 feet, which is a huge problem regardless of the bike and will likely require some modification to the peg/clutch set up to let me foot slip easily in and out). AND I am about to get my license (never have ridden before other than my kid's 50cc moped - that weighs about 215 pounds wet). I like the idea of having a lightweight and easier to control bike for local (city) driving with the occasional trip to the country to ride and see scenery (I would transport the bike there - I live in the DC area and highways would be REALLY dangerous). I am also over 50 and would like to get another 50+ years in without an accident! :-) Given that, what do you think?

      Dhairyasheel Shinde Having owned an R3 I can tell you the power delivery is much different. The R3 has no usable power until high up in the rev range while the G310R has usable torque throughout. The G310R feels slightly taller but also handles much better. Thanks for watching!

    • @TadpolCreative
      @TadpolCreative  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      KTM and Husqvarna are using Indian motorcycle manufacturers to supply production for their smaller engine motorcycles as well - don't know how I feel about it. The reduction in price comes with a risk of reduction in quality to be sure. Either way, thanks for watching!

    • @moodesigner
      @moodesigner 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      At least you get quality built bikes with current Husqvarna lineup since its built in Austria. However rumour has it that could be entirely moved to India in 2019. I did consider G310R for my first bike but most likely will go for Vitpilen 401.

    • @TadpolCreative
      @TadpolCreative  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great choice - I checked out the Svartpilen in person a few weeks ago and was impressed with the build quality. The price is a little steep for an entry level motorcycle but I think the design and stylistic choices Husqvarna made justify the price. I've ridden the KTM 390 which shares the same engine and can say for sure that the 390(401) engine is torquey and feels more powerful than the numbers indicate. You'll love it! Ride safe out there.

    What do you think about the vibrations??

    • @TadpolCreative
      @TadpolCreative  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To be very honest with you - there aren't really any of the vibrations you'd expect with a single. The bike does have bar end weights to help reduce vibration to the hands but it's very minimal to begin with. Go ride one and find out!

      Pill low36 It’s BMW engineered but 100% manufactured in India by TVS. I had problems with the clutch on one of the initial units but I haven’t heard widespread complaints. It does have a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty if that eases your mind - I just personally feel that if you’re going to risk buying an Indian made motorcycle you’re better off with the KTM 390.

    hi Sir will it suit for short riders ( eg 5 feet height)

    • @TadpolCreative
      @TadpolCreative  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While it isn't the shortest motorcycle on the market, it is very lightweight and manageable. The best way to know is to go sit on one and see how you feel on it. We have riders who are around 5' that ride fully loaded r1200gs adventure bikes - it's all about how confident you feel on the motorcycle. Ride safe & thanks for watching!

      I may have to ask the counter, Im 6'5" 300 and wanting to get into sport bikes coming from cruisers, would something like this still be enough for me to safely maneuver on? If not, what sub 500cc would you recommend?

      @@user-qd6jt9sd3h no offense but
      at 6'5 300 pounds your going to look like a gorilla on this bike . Maybe u should get a standard 650 then you can get a sports bike after your comfortable with that

      @@eagleeye8916 yeah unfortunately that's what I was thinking too. There are worse things than being stuck in the cruiser life now that Indian is making a comeback, and since this I have been looking at the ninja 400s and they seem to be a good height

    Great bike but $6000 out the door price a too high (including FL states taxes and dealers fees) , compared to the $4750 BMW manufacturer MSRP official price.

      Alex Abadi Unless you scam on the title, u have to pay taxes for any bike...even Craigslist used, the only time you wouldnt be is lying about sell price on tag. That's the majority of the price increase u mentioned.

    Trying to decide between this the KTM 390, and the new kawasaki 400 thing.

    • @TadpolCreative
      @TadpolCreative  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Connor Knipes That’s pretty easy on paper - KTM and BMW translate to Bajaj and TVS for their manufacturing origins. The KTM had SPAL fan issues the first few years but they’ve sorted that out and the new revamp with the TFT looks really good. The BMW had a kickstand recall to the last of my knowledge and that’s about all. I’ve ridden both and the KTM definitely has more power, handles better, and IMO looks the best. The Kawasaki is going to perform like any other metric 400 but there’s a charm to that and japanese reliability is unmatched. I’d personally rank them Kawasaki then KTM then the BMW in terms of reliability but in terms of fun I think the KTM is best. It depends on what you value. Fun, reliability or a tank badge. Ride safe.

      Definitely, I’m the same height as you. You won’t “not fit” to say but this bike is a smaller less powerful bike and really just a sportier scooter

    • @danbev9313
      @danbev9313 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a first bike it's ok to ride something smaller like this.
      You will be a much better rider to start off on this and move up to something bigger than diving into a 1000cc street from the get go.
      I'm 6'4 and started on a small Kawi...I looked like a giant riding a tricycle but got my skills down much easier than if I jumped into CBR1000
