I'd say DC and Baltimore are less scary than they were 20 years ago but also infinitely less scary than news and tv scaring the suburbs would have you believe. Of course I'd have to admit my bias having lived in DC both now and 20 years ago. Though I was a kid then. I'd say it's an outright lovely city to live and I can't wait to see it thrive a bit more.
On the episode though, I know you're further along so I'll say it's so easy to be frustrated with Ziggy in this moment but upon rewatch i think that's what made his character so great. Also glad to see you've passed 5K!

Sorry you weren't feeling well. I assume you filmed this a while ago, so you're over it by now (I hope).
Omar didn't admit to a specific crime. To go to jail, they'd have to prove that he committed particular acts. Just saying "I'm a criminal" isn't enough. And, as you saw, the prosecutor was inclined to forgive him in exchange for his testimony against Bird.
"Just like you, man." - Omar calling out Levy is one of my favorite moments of the series.
I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say that what happened to Dee has consequences for many episodes to come.

No problem being sick, it's fun to watch you watch. I've seen every season five times so I know what's next. But I won't say a thing! Looking forward to next episode - can we make it a bit sooner this time? Feel better Jan!!

In hindsight, season 2 was not as bad as many claimed it to be. It has a lot of memorable scenes and character progression, however Ziggy. Man, oh man! That guy sucks lol but I love this show and I’m glad you have been enjoying it as well.

Omar on the stand is one of my favorites bits from the show. He is cool.

its so funny to think about "two british men talking- word on the street iiis" ....
Dee has such a forshadowy day - with talking about getting real with the story or the past gonna catch up with you and a last look at his son and a last talk with his mother and a last "I need to do this alone" to Avon and a decision to quit drugs... he really was ready for the prologue of his life to end (All Prologue - title of the episode) ...

Why on earth does a realtor have a mannequin with the same jacket as the realtor, but no pants on 😅 Never thought about that detail there.

1:20 "Robbing drug dealers" isn't a crime, a specific instance of robbery committed against a specific drug dealer is. He can admit to it because the police/DA don't have any particular crime to charge him with. It's not a great idea to admit it because a statement made under oath could be used in another court case so if he ever is brought up on charges for a specific crime it might hurt him, but for a guy like Omar, I think that's really the least of his worries. But just because he admitted to being a robber doesn't mean the DA can argue in court that he's guilty of any particular robbery. If it ever did come up, it would probably be used as impeachment against him as a witness. A jury is less likely to believe someone who is a criminal.

4:46 It's a fine line though, if you do that sort of thing too much the judge will penalize you for it. It could result in a mistrial, a dismissal of charges or even potentially the lawyer being disbarred. Something like this happened famously in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial where the prosecutor tried to use the defense's invocation of the fifth amendment (remaining silent) to imply guilt (something which many people infer but you're not supposed to.) Defense objected and the judge absolutely laid into the prosecutor for it. Judges aren't stupid, they know all the games lawyers try to play.

    Reaction/commentary suggestion: The Corner.
Most of it is on TH-cam for free. Very similar to The Wire, set in Baltimore with some characters being on both shows, but it's a miniseries. It's by HBO as well. Some say it's a prequel to The Wire. It isn't, but you can see why someone would say that by watching it.

If you want to console yourself, watch Friday Night Lights, season 5 features 'Dee' and 'Wallace' in an episode so you can pretend that they both went in to Witness Protection in Texas...

There was a BBC show, The Steeltown Murders, which partially deals with police officers carrying the guilt of failing to solve a crime. Not sure it would be good reaction content as it wasn't a hit, but maybe an interesting show if you want something to watch on your own.
