    Great camerawork and lighting. Thanks for a walkthrough of topics regarding this motherboard. I have the same in a retro-computer build.

    Thanks a lot for this! Worked without issue, I was having that same 8GB limit.

    I upgraded from a Biostar VX chipset motherboard with a Winchip 200 MHz CPU to a P55T2P4 with a K6-2+ 475 @ 500 MHz in the spring of 2001 after reading "Oldie Tuning" on Tom's Hardware. Jan's BIOS wasn't yet available, so the board reported it as an unknown CPU, and my hard drive was a thirty gigabyte Maxtor ATA66 so that wasn't an issue. It was the cheapest way I could upgrade since it meant I could continue to use use my AT case and 72 pin SIMM memory. I also upgraded to a sixteen megabyte (maybe it was actually 32 megabytes?) video card. I later flashed Jan's BIOS, and used it to build a computer for my mother.

    Great tutorial video. I have both versions of this motherboard and I want to flash MR. BIOS that I found on multiple websites. Have you ever attempted flashing MR. BIOS? What made you pick UniFlash instead of pflash.exe or aflash.exe supplied by ASUS? I had so far no luck with original flushing software that came with MR. BIOS. Do you think I could use UniFlash or pflash.exe from ASUS to load MR. BIOS? I posted similar question on Vogons forum, but so far I got no replies. I would appreciate your opinions.

      I looked for the 'safest' way to update the BIOS with the unofficial version (support for additional CPUs, larger HDDs, Y2K fix, etc.). I have not looked into MR. BIOS. But during my research, I came across multiple posts that the official BIOS flashing tool from ASUS could cause issues - even with the official BIOS releases you can download from ASUS. I basically wanted to make sure that I won't brick the board due to a failed BIOS flash. Uniflash has a readme included that actually states to support the ASUS P55-T2P4.
      I am curious - why would you use MR. BIOS?

      @@bitsundbolts Once again, thank you for your video. I have listened to your suggestions and used Uniflash to upgrade the board to the latest (302) Award as well as MR BIOS with no problems whatsoever.
      MR BIOS, although might seem very primitive compared to ordinary AMI or Award, nevertheless, it was an extra 3rd party upgrade and according to many, very fine tuned one (better memory timings, etc.).
      Few features I like the most are:
      - almost instant warm reboot,
      - you can enter BIOS setup without reboot with Ctrl-Alt-Esc
      - you can reboot with a boot drive of choice with Ctrl-Alt-Enter
      - you can enable/disable external cache with Ctrl-Alt-"+" or "-" also without entering BIOS.
      Anyway... think of it as an AMG version of a Mercedes-Benz.

    Danke für die Anleitung, werde bei meinem T2P4 von 0207 auch auf das gemoddete BIOS wechseln wegen der HDD Unterstützung. Welches Testprogramm nutzt Du für den Y2K Bug und die Systemkomponenten am Ende?

    With this update can you change the IRQ nember of serial ports?

    • @bitsundbolts
      @bitsundbolts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not 100% sure, but I think there is an option in the BIOS (a whole page) where you can reassign IRQs.

    • @baghdadiabdellatif1581
      @baghdadiabdellatif1581 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bitsundbolts You have a great BIOS version as long as you have the ability to change the IRQ of the serial port. If you still have the motherboard, I hope you try changing the IRQ for the serial port, because it is a wonderful and rare possibility. Thank you so much

    On your bios boot 06:36 i see pci serial bus controller with irq 12. Do you have a PCI serial card? Or its an extension bios on the main bios?
    Thank you

    • @bitsundbolts
      @bitsundbolts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, this must be the onboard serial. I also do not use any extension BIOS, just the regular board BIOS (which is modified to fix a few bugs, but I don't think it has any extensions that would make the serial bus controller pop up in this screen).

    • @baghdadiabdellatif1581
      @baghdadiabdellatif1581 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bitsundbolts I think the tow port share the same IRQ and the ports get initialized from an bios extension on the main bios file.

    • @bitsundbolts

      32MB + 64MB (wobei 1MB = 1024KB). Dadurch kommt man dann auf die Zahl auf dem Boot-Screen. Sind aber 96MB. Leider fehlen mir funktionierende Speichermodule um 128MB oder mehr zu konfigurieren

    Hello, I have version 0207 official version for this mobo, ( not the modded one,) the thing is that it does see a 20GB HDD I have, but when I am using, it freezez and unfreezes for 1 second, randomly at about 15 seconds or less continuosly, I will try to add the modded bios maybe it will help with my problem, I think the problem could be the bios cause when I use my 1.3GB HDD it never does the freeze unfreeze thing, I will post later what hard drive does my original 0207 (1998 date) version of bios read but has that problem :D
