I think u misunderstood him. He means that there is progression in terms of endless gear grinding, but there's nothing meaningful to use that gear for that would be rewarding outside of being able to grind a spot faster.
The whole point of grinding is PVP. If you're looking for PVE then you wouldn't be grinding.
@@alerodriguez8094 That makes 0 sense my guy. PvP gives 0 rewards that's what people have always complained about compared to every other MMO that rewards for you being in pvp with gear, buffs, cosmetics, etc.
This game 100% you grind gear to grind better spots to grind better gear then you can pvp after all of it since you've got nothing else to do with your gear now. But then you grind again to simply get the high gear score and "win" even though you get nothing for winning.

Pvp is fun, because you can shit talk and be better than people. I don't need incentive to do it. I competitively pvp in every MMO I play, and I do it to be the best.
Currently playing a Korean MMO that has 0 reward for PVP. Nobody is complaining. It's all you shit new players that want your handouts or a reason to do anything.

this whole video felt like a "back in my day" speech
I don't know old bdo before PA start to nerf spots like crazy's and add the duo possibility it was good, but after that the game turns down, because new player start to lose all his time grinding and stop practice pvp.
Many says has they enjoy in pvp of bdo old days, but it was basically some bully attacking noobs. Because it was to weak or so bad player for fight against pros, who their was basically the same, but with more grind time.
Then introduce new spots but new players there was so behind for go to them and old spot was nerf, so the create a artificial breach who need to be close with gift events, node wars it was the same.
The lack of balance, at the start all players was wizards and witch, then all was mystics or strikres(for counter the casters XD), then ninjas and kunnos for counter them.
If you don't pay LT then you need pass the max trash to you horse, then back to you again, and repeat for long periods, so you need invest those 300 dollars in prepare you character and maybe the old moon camp. People quit by burn out with pen try after 6-12 months maybe, the game was full of bad reviews about how all the gabling addicts who can't go to the casino was there (and for what i know of one employee, bad reviews was not wrong).
Lets be honest, it was pretty p2w and for gambling addicts, and afk activity's do not help the game. Tons of fishers afk around the map, burning the world water for maintain their pc on. This practie should be ilegal on videogames, like literally, ilegal put afk activities. No, it is not fair to compare it to an air conditioner or a refrigerator, those devices actually have a function that really matters.
I personally think that the actual bdo could be better if they remove gift events and solve the pvp status. Because even at the start morons who only want make pvp ruining the guild for many(beause yeah, many people only want pvm, not me. But most of players), why? forcing other to go to node wars and guild wars, when a entire group was happy with sea monsters(i see this fight like in 40 guilds). Actually people in pvm were bring most of the silver to guilds, where their pvp addicts like me use for them wars.
PVP and PVM need be different and remove the pasive incoming for afk activity's, Reducing market inflation/deflation allows for a more friendly system for new PvM and PvP players.

@@detective2221 It's an L because this is just untrue. There is so many ways to have fun and competitive time in PvP games, bdo copers just can't see it. Just play league, or any fighting game or dare I say even in the mmo space just a bigger platform like WoW.
I think its funny that Blue thinks BDO is still a sandbox, but simultaneously laughs at this guy for going active fishing (since its such a worthless activity, like 90% of all the things that used to be viable incomes)
I did laugh but it also serves the point that you can play the game any way you want. Lots of ppl afk fish so the lifeskill is definitely still used, it’s just that active fishing has needed an update for a while and it’s funny to see people do it. That being said, the beauty of a sandbox is that you still can in fact do all of these things still.
If you stop thinking of min maxing everything and actually enjoy the journey you would find that you can go and have fun with all these differente activities in the game. Stop min maxing, have fun.

I think he's 100% right when it comes to the engine problems, s, SA's and FG's are super unpredictable in this game whether they are going to work the way they are intended to or not, and that just shouldnt be happening. I will take another action combat mmo that I have a lot of experience with as an example, that being Blade and Soul. When you use an Iframe in Bl;ade and Soul, it works exactly as its supposed to, EVERY. SINGLE.TIME. it doesnt matter if you are doing a 1v1 duel or an endgame raid where there is like 100 different things all happening at the same time, your protections skills work exactly the way they are meant to. Now, anyone who has also played Blade and Soul will be able to tell you that that game is optimized like crap, it runs fairly poorly, even on a good pc and is probably even more ping dependent than BDO (There are a couple of classes that are almost completely unplayable, even at a basic level, with more than 150 ping), but even despite that, the protection skills are consistent and predictable in how they work. BDO as a whole, runs significantly better than Blade and Soul does these days, but the desync issues are really, really bad
lol blue is defending his game so hard, but im with the dude hes reacting too. why does this 10 year old game still remind me of how broke i am for not being able to play on a top tier pc for a good experience. having a super scuffed experience on 'midrange' hardware for a game this old and steadily developed is wild. and for the vast majority of an entire alliance to have to let out big ass sighs at the start of every nw because of the lag just shows that its not solely a pc specs problem
The game is nowhere near perfect but yeah he is coping hard.
I really enjoyed bdo for years but I can’t take it seriously anymore as every system they implement or focus on is limited or just not on par with the competition due to bad servers and a flawed engine.

people are nostalgic about open world pvp but for us filthy casuals that was the best thing that happened in BDO. after watching the video I came to the conclusion that I'm a masochist high on copium, because I like everyting he complains, quests, journals ,dices, everything and I'm not even kidding, incluindg the shitshow of itens in my inventory

Blue, your BDO cope is so strong. Its a good game with some bad systems, primarily the enhancement system, and terrible balancing. It does have the best combat, but overall ESO is a better game, even for PVP since it can be accessed 24/7 and that is for the large scale "siege" type PVP that you only get once a day for 2 hours.

I sorta agree. The fact I can go into Eso pvp starting at level 10, then never bother with pve again is kinda nice. Can progress exactly how I want. Eso combat just isn't as satisfying, but bg's and large scale stuff is fun. Plus, I don't feel like I need top tier pc specs for eso.
If the craft bag wasn't tied into the subscription, I'd probably be more into eso. Also, weirdly enough, I'd rather pve in bdo. Eso pve does nothing for me. However, at least I'm able to pick a main in Eso. Bdo each class is at least a little fun, so I can't pick.

He wants a final skill for lifeskills, but then that isn't infinite progression... which is praised the game for. You do lifeskills for the enjoyment of lifeskills and that is what he doesn't understand. He wants a final goal opposed to enjoying the game.
He understands perfectly but the point is what is the point of life Skilling if you can't actually use it in the game for anything else other than the fact that you're just doing the same repetitive life skill over and over with no real reward.

When he says new engine and desync, he's actually talking about netcode. I just started playing BDO, but I mostly play fighting games. The action combat is similar to some combos, and you need rollback netcode to have good fights in 1v1 pvp. The difference is that feeling of playing offline or local multiplayer versus online multiplayer, where everything feels more delayed, which is why it needs rollback frames. This is also why he thinks Smash Melee is a masterpiece since it's a fighting game.

@BlueSquadron bro your take pvp drove kids away is flat out false dog, Karma has always kept excessive pvp at bay, and I know nobody who was grinding, then got killed and quit. Everyone I know blew up their gear then quit due to enhancing system. Lack of RNG mixed with inability to make good money grinding caused quitting. Most people just karma bombed pvp players anyway.
A couple of times during this video it feels like you're intentionally bad faithing him to get your point and you're so eager to comment without even listening or letting him finish his point, which is annoying as a viewer. Did you forget that the game was literally dying and guilds were protesting against P2W for months back in the days before it calmed down and started trending upwards? You're a great content creator and the way you use your camera box for memes is creative and you're also just generally entertaining, but my above points made this video quite frustrating to watch
While less drama can be good, I don't necessarily agree from a pvp games standpoint. Back in the day winning sieges actually mattered. Even the community outside of the guilds participating cared about siege. This also lead to people thriving to join the siege scene. While the siege guilds themselves might care about siege, the silver they get from castle or farming a lot of kills, outside of that specific niche scene it doesn't matter.

I have had you on my second screen for much of the last couple days after taking a look at endgame BDO PvP for the first time -- the game is just beautiful and large scale PvP is making me feel like I might feel a type of way I haven't felt in over a decade, so even while I'm levelling in SoD, having your videos playing I find myself laughing a lot (for the right reasons) and hopefully allowing my subconscious to pick up useful things because you genuinely are an effective teacher. Also, I admire your zero-adjacent effort TH-cam strategy, well played and well-deserved blossoming success working smarter. I thought I might have to make this comment not a threat, but a promise, and you'll be happy to know it's just a promise that I would have made a promise if you came at Neeko sideways. Honestly that guy is right. I am sorry for grinding is not endgame that is a common sense mmorpg has it is the way of life and you don't make the way you live your endgame content because you are already living it, dreaming it, grinding it. Grinding is just a thing that MMORPG players do and you can't make grinding itself as endgame content the same way you can't make growing tomato as endgame content because it is growing on it's own and it is a thing that just happens. I have no vocabulary to make it sound better so take it or leave it.
If you wanna pull away from pvp as your focus you need to set up actual pve content to do. Dungons, raids, trials etc. You cant sweep the leg on pvp than be like "BTW we have 1 dungeon or you can mindlessly farm mobs for hours"

Yes and no. MMO is completely different than any other game. At level 1 in any MMO isn’t fun compared to “max” level that being said the “100 hours” or anytime it takes to get to max level isnt going to be as fun as end game. So yes sometimes it takes “100 hours” to sometimes see if a game is fun or not. BDO is kind of a bad example because it has no true end game but there’s milestones people will have to hit to see if the games mechanics are gonna be what they want. Doesn’t make it a shit game. Single player games do fall into the category of shit if it takes 100 hours to get there.
@@ItztoobadthatI no, MMOs aren’t any different. The leveling experience should be fun. FF14 has a fun leveling experience with a decent story. So does WoW classic. So does the Star Wars MMO. BDO’s story is so below the industry standard it’s amazing they still have people defending it.

Does that mean the game isnt fun? no, its still is for other people, but even in bdo i didnt enjoy the first couple hours, yet is was still good to the point where it got me hooked unlike FF14, and no fun isnt always at the start, there isnt a game alive in this world thats like that
@@sungclan there are plenty of games like wdym. Rainbow Six Siege, Elden Ring, Baldurs gate 3, Zelda (take your pick, they all range from decent to great), super smash brothers, Pokemon (for kids), apex, PUBG, Harry Potter (the newest one)… need I go on?
There are tons of games across all sorts of genres that you can just pick up and start having fun with immediately. BDO is not like that. And whether you want to admit it or not that is the mark of a bad game.
But don’t take my word for it, compare the current active player count for BDO against any of the games I mentioned and see for yourself how your opinion stacks against the majority.

The lack of purpose to the endless hours you can dump into BDO hits true though..
Just because the combat outmatches Tabtargeting, doesnt mean that the player-vs-X content automatically outperforms tabtargeting imho. Superarmors, Frontalguards, vacuums, gapples mixed in with Resistances makes for the "combat" evaluation not hitting highscore on my own personal MMO combat toptier list.
RvR/PvP MMOs where you can pvp from lvl1, with grouping and groupplay while on the progression journey bring so much more and I'd happily trade BDO's keyinput combat for tabtargeting with a more defined endgame purpose. BDO is abit of a mixure of reallife escape timesink added on top of stockholm syndrome. It's great at that. But that doesnt make the game fantastic, just decent or good in the long run when you get some distance from it

5:20, In EU we have loads of PERMARED (24/7 negative karma) players, around 20 active, that kill grinders that doesn't use instanced realm to grind, that just to tell them they are out of combat and never safe

I have 14,000 hours and found the worst part of the game being the end because I'm sitting with 3 TET debo's and 100+ bill but can't progress cause im getting like 2 costumes a week. And this past week I've gotten absolutely none. Gotta love not progressing cause I'm not spending real world money.

You're right but we've actually seen mmos shut down due to a lack of money coming in. They do need money somehow and the way BDO did it is kind of impressive. The p2w is so ridiculously bad that only people who are super rich and don't care are the ones that are truly taking advantage of it. And then, on top of that, players who actually play the game could not care less about p2w players. The difference in gear between someone that p2ws and someone that doesn't is pretty negligible...

That being said, I have no idea why it's in a tier list with MMOs. Like when people say BDO has the best combat in the MMO genre, you really have to remember that it's the MMO genre. Of course Melee is going to have better combat, because it's a 4p game. With those scoring metrics, you would need to deduct points from the fact that Melee doesn't support as many players as BDO does.
Melee is also not a perfect game. Half the characters are tournament unviable, and there are clear issues with attacks, like IC wobbling, Marth's grab being longer than Yoshi's tongue (basically the same as the Drak clip above).
It's just a Neeko thing bro. Try to zoom out and look at it squinty. He was basically ranking "how these games made us (gamers) feel when they launched and thereafter into their prime" based on the experience / dopamine they gave us x our relative expectations of games at the time. Mixed with how they are now, from the perspective of a guy who isn't super invested into one game like I imagine y'all (Blue and his core audience) are now. You make some good points, but most people who quit bdo, quit because of the horrible enhancing system. The 0.17% chance to upgrade at 200+ fs is what killed the game for me.

I think the point about the FPS is that the advantage difference between high FPS and low is directly tied to damage in BDO, whereas in other games it is indirectly tied to damage by affecting perception. In other games FPS gives you a perception and reaction advantage, in BDO FPS is just a straight damage buff.
For example, if I play Overwatch the ability to perceive and react to enemies a few ms faster at high FPS might give me an advantage, but it is miniscule compared to literally anything else you can do to be better at the game. Maybe I get off the first shot, maybe I blow a cooldown before my enemy, maybe it is slightly easier to hit harder shots, but I can't ever actually do more theoretical DPS for more FPS. Unless you are at the absolute highest skill level or playing someone with exactly the same skill as you (on characters that really take advantage of that reaction time difference i.e. hitscan) then the FPS difference almost certainly made almost no difference.
For BDO, because the game was so incompetently designed that FPS increases animation speed, the effect of FPS is way more direct. Its like if you could reload faster or shoot more shots the higher your FPS is, except worse because the increase in Animation Speed means you get access to other animation cancels so now the whole thing is like if not having high enough FPS meant certain skills where just straight up locked.
If BDO FPS didn't affect animation speed you could roll up to PVP at 60 FPS content in the knowledge that your computer specs will only give you a disadvantage in the edgiest of edge cases or the absolute maximum of player skill (and gear) levels. Because FPS does affect animation speed, if you aren't rocking the absolute maximum PC specs while your graphics are set to Runescape mode you might as well have a debuff slapped on you alerting everyone to your -10% to DPS status effect.
Honestly my hot take is BDO should take the nuclear option; just cap FPS at 60, set a hard limit on how much hardware improves DPS. Tryhards with high end graphics cards can cry into their monitors and justify their purchases by actually improving their graphics.

BDO is a Bless Online if you fixed performance issues and made it more shiny.
I was Bless Online end gamer even with atrocious performance and the systems were very similar at basics. Like item upgrade downgrade, durability loss when upgraded, taming, pet combining. People shitting on Bless Online yet they played for like 10 minutes and oh it is laggy and shit because youtubers said so and they all jumped on the drop shit on Bless Online.
That game was very good with terrible performance issues, the dungeons were awesome, the maps were great. I loved every aspect of the game and it is sad it shut down and didn't fix any performance issues.
As a person who played both games I can safely say my biased opinion in your opinion that Bless Online was better then BDO and still is if it would exist. I would even boldly claim that the BDO took many ideas from Bless Online and implemented in they game and still people claim the Bless Online is trash when 45% of the BDO looks like Bless Online.
What annoys me the most in the internet if one big streamers or youtuber says so, some white knight pepegas defends it as if it is true.

Their champion win-rates sit around 45-55% but that's really bad when you think of how people handle a champion. If I'm a gold player but get my hands on a champion that brings me to diamond and that's where I'm now stuck, that means that I was winning 60%+ of my games until I got to diamond and, THEN it evened it out to 55% or below. Usually when people calculate win-rates, they pick a certain rank and then higher so you just have a bunch of champions that are rarely played but a select few are good at and then champions who are played extremely often and had people climb up each rank to balance out the win-rate.
It sounds complicated when I say it like this but it is true and an issue the developers know about but can't fix due to having a focus on the competitive scene. They care very little about champions that aren't played at the highest level.
BDO combat is the best in the industry for PVE, but not for PVP, its messy and lacks basic strategy. WoW by far has the best PVP especially when it comes to Arena and Duels, i don't care what you say but there is no other game that will beat a duel than in WoW, nopp.

Nah he's right af. I love this game but haven't played it in months simply because it's a sweat fest. It's not as fun as it was before. Too many different classes. Progression feels super slow unless you're spending money or investing much more time than should be allowed for any game especially considering the demographic of people that this game appeals to. Its stunning visually but otherwise it doesn't have much going for it. My primary qualm is the time investment.
i still have the old daily exp in my Y tab where you used to have to log in and it would auto start as soon as you claimed it. i remember putting it on alts if i wasnt going to grind that day.

Blue I usually agree with most of your takes and you are still my spirit animal but I feel like the "git gud" attitude is just completely gone from bdo now. People rather complain about a grab instead of just learning how to avoid it. Grabs are not the end all be all. In fact if you watch a grab class guide there are classes that you are better off never even attempting to grab. They will avoid it and clap your cheeks when you miss your grab. Just look objectively at the whole state of PvP right now and you can see that grab classes despite being 2/3rds of the classes in the game are not dominating in any of the pvp types. For example the best class in AoS last season? Musa who has no grab. Best classes for large scale? Witch/Wizard/Archer guess what they don't have? A grab. Who is the best 1v1 class in this game? Sorc. No grab. and before the white knights come out to try and accuse me of defending my win button I play succ hash and witch/musa so I don't even have a grab. I catch so many grab classes by baiting out their grabs that I don't see why everyone hates them so much.
