Couldn't agree more Chris. I recently did a 60 stump job, and after about 45 stumps my teeth went dull, it was a pain. Took more then twice the power from engine and cutting speed was much slower. When I noticed my hydraulics on the swing was forcing the cutting wheel through the stump, it was time to quit. Much like a chainsaw, you shouldn't have to force the bar through. By the way, remember when I asked you a week or so ago what's the worst thing you ever hit? Well, I hit a 3/8 log chain on that job! Luckily, it was just under the top soil an inch or so. If it would have been embedded, it probably have stopped my 80 hp Rayco in its tracks and damaged something. Also a miracle the teeth didn't catch it and wrap up in the wheel or fling it at me! Happy grinding buddy.
@toddscholze168, How long it take to do 60 stumps with your 80hp Rayco? My stump grinder has 65 hp. I have also hit stuff and that's what I what out for the most. Thanks for watching!!! Keep grinding!!!
I did a similar size willow stump the other day but it was cut higher than yours. Completed in about an hour and 20 minutes with teeth getting dull on the bandit 2550. But I was also hopping in and out of the customers skidsteer to remove mud and chips and had to chase roots. He also needed it ground deep because he was putting in a gas line for an I ground pool heater. Kind of a pain but all in all not too bad.
@mikesorg6746, that sounds a lot like this job except for my skid steer wasn't on this job this time. I always say every job is different. The weather is starting to change in Alabama now. Keep grinding!!!
Hey Chris I'm trying to get in to stump grinding here in NC and I'm looking at a 2022Bandit SG40. Any idea of how this machine performs? Any input would be great
