They're not even branded as VP race fuel jugs. They have almost no markings or language written on them, just a bar code and is says not for gasoline. You look up the bar code and it comes up as VP racing fuels. Ha! I have three of them. They're a ***** to pour because they're big and heavy, but I can fill up my mower in 30 seconds and not spill a drop using a funnel.

It seems like it's made by someone who waited for decades for a f***ing company to come out and to make a normal, usable can made by humans and not lizards, then decided "screw it" and did it himself. It's absolutely magnificent, overengineered even, but that's a good thing in my book.

Been using these for about 4 years now, after they popped up at a local hardware store (turns out they're a local company). I've got some of their older gas cans, without the yellow filling cap, and they work great, but get a little chubby with pressure if they sit in a hot garage. Easy enough to vent them, when you squeeze the dispensing handle, before it opens the valve to the little tube on the bottom, it actually vents out the top of the can, so there's no pressure pushing fluid out of it, so no need to burp the filling cap. I've got a 2.5 and a 5; the 5 holds plain gas, the 2.5 holds premixed gas and oil, for strimmers and chainsaws and whatnot. The older style has a little plastic dingus that attaches the hose cap to the can itself, which is nice.
Also picked up a couple of their water cans, one for camping and one for the car, as well as a general purpose one I keep windshield washer fluid in.
Other than the issue of getting the last little drop of fluid out of them, and the chubby can in the summer, I don't really have any complaints.

It was a child-safety cap so you had to push down on it, but when you did, the tether would bind up and get pulled along. So you needed 2 hands to open it, 1 to unscrew and other to hold and readjust the tether back into place. It got so frustrating that I would intentionally not tighten the cap at all so I could undo it 1-handed

Yep, great gas can. I bought one of these back a couple years ago... because I can't afford more than one 😅 But it does work, it works well, and is built well. Have never had a single issue with it and no leaks.
I gave up with all the regular gas cans, removed the spouts and put aftermarket gas can caps with good seals in them. Then I had a used low pressure 12v fuel pump _(the one's that are for older carb vehicles)_ made a mount for it out of a piece of aluminum flat bar that hangs on the handle of most any gas can. Took an extra gas can cap, drilled a hole in it, installed a brass barb, connected a stiff rubber fuel line going into the can, then on the top side a flexible silicone fuel line that goes to the pump. Then a long section of fuel line from the pump to a brass barb just for weight that I drop into whatever lawn mower tank or etc that I'm filling.
Added a length of 12v wire to go to the fuel pump, with a flip switch to turn on/off at the pump. Then added some good 12v battery clamps to the other end, similar to jumper cable clamps but much smaller. I use those to connect to the lawn mower battery or etc, and use this setup to fill all my mowers and other small tanks.
I roll up the fuel line and 12v power wire, and I use a couple velcro "cable" straps to hold these to the gas can handle when not in use. Keeps everything nice & tidy, and easy to carry.
When one gas can runs empty I simply move this setup to the next can. its a little bit slow, but I don't spill any gas, and I don't have to stand there holding the weight of 5 gallons of gas trying to fill a small tank without spilling it all over the place. Been using this setup for a few years now, and it works great. The only other gas cans I use is the Sure Can, and a small gas 1 gallon can for my 2 cycle oil mix.

Both are completely "throttle-able" and have worked flawlessly over the last few years. Would like to see a follow-up video of your SureCan in the future some time! There ya go!

I have 3 sure cans and just got 2 more of these new ones with the lever. They work great and are durable. Probably the best cans I’ve owned. I’m disappointed they removed the thread that used to be attached to the small nozzle. That’ll get lost quick😂 also if you’re going to use the full 5 gallons you can stick the small nozzle cap under the valve handle and it’ll keep it open.

what can I add, if you don't own a fancy gas can like this I only learned recently that you need to empty regular ones with the opening in the high position which yes looks and feels akward but you can manage the flow way better...just filled my windshield wiper reservoir with a similar sized can and...it worked no splashes everywhere no "choking" of the funnel overflow and such, being able to just rest it somewhere while it empties is a big bonus on that one

I work in a small engine shop and we're constantly filling small gas tanks on the things we repair, we have three of the 5s, and a pair of the 2.5s set aside for 50:1. These are incredible for my use case where a dozen small spills throughout the day make the whole place smell terrible, haven't had a spill yet with these.

I was gifted the same gas can a few years ago and I was skeptical that something might fail on it but so far so good. And my older can has a black spout cap that is black instead of yellow but it is retained with the spout went unscrewed. Try contacting the company that made it and see if they could send you one. Otherwise I'd come up with a way to retain it with some heavy duty fishing line and some JB Weld or something like that.

It looks like a pretty solid gas can. I do surgery on all of mine.
I rip out the plastic mesh filter that prevents you from actually filling them up at a gas station pump.
Then I pull the spring out of the nozzle and you can just push it down for on and leave it up for locked. Works great.
Only thing that makes me nervous about this with the filler at the bottom is that you're eventually going to have a bad gasket and you're going to leak gas everywhere.
I got one of those Tera pumps so that I don't have to lift the can at all. That's my preference

So far No-Spill gas cans are my favorite emissions-compliant gas can. I believe they're made of thicker plastic than most, and the valves aren't terrible. EZ-pour makes regular vents and spouts for most new cans, if you want that option. I pick up old metal cans when I find them though.

I've used a 2 gallon SureCan for a few years now. Works OK, probably better than any other modern "safety" spout. Still can spill a little fuel when filling small gas tanks. If they were serious about no fuel spills, they should have made disconnects like large aircraft have under the wing. Watch them when you are waiting at the gate sometime. A quick disconnect is on the end of the hose with a shutoff valve. They don't want fuel spilling around airplanes worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Surecans are the best I’ve used. I can confirm they are quite stout as well. A little smooshed, but leaking quite badly.

Living in the woods of western Maine we lose power alot, especially in the winter, sometimes for days, so a generator is essential for survival. I was always frustrated dealing with a 5 gallon can when it's 20 degrees and snowing sideways. When I saw this can on a lawn care channel I bought one. Last December power was out for 5 days and I almost enjoyed refueling. Even my wife didn't mind once. I just pray the government doesn't try to "improve " it to make it "safer".

I JUST got one of these in 2 gallon and used it for the first time this last weekend. It's definitely easier to dispense, though I found that a lot more gas than you would think comes out once you let go of the valve. I overfilled my pressure washer twice. Finally didn't on the third try. Also, the spring on the filler cap is way too strong and difficult to use. I cut off the little tab that keeps the cap from unscrewing and just remove the cap to fill. Zero gas smell in my trunk after filling it though. The price is another down side, $54!

    • @FunkFPV

I’ve literally been hoarding my old school gas cans for this reason. The spouts are all mismatched some broken off at various lengths most leak where the spout screws on so I’ve mastered putting the thumb on the vent technique to force the can to draw air through the leaky spout to keep them from leaking 😂 and it’s still easier and less messy than any of the new cans I’ve tried. Those spring loaded jobbers tend to just implode after minimal use and then you just end up with an unsafe can anyway. I hope this sure can will go the distance because the design is promising. My only worry really is that rotating spout. Gas isn’t the friendliest to most seals and I worry rotating something back and forth to boot that it may be the weak link over time. If it has a hose connection inside that rotator and it doesn’t have to seal any fuel then it would alleviate that concern. Will definitely give it a try I’m glad you made a video about it and brought it to people’s attention. 👍
