I just got back from Zion. I purchased your guide and it was very helpful! The shuttle system within the park is very easy to use. People can hike up to Scout Lookout (where the chains start at Angle's Landing) without a permit. Many people don't mention this and assume a permit is needed to do all 5 miles. The permit is only needed from Scout Lookout to the end/top of Angel's Landing. This is a great hike alone. It's strenuous, but very safe and you get a great view of the canyon from high above.
@@WereintheRockies Hey! Sorry for the late reply. I was lucky enough to get a room at the lodge for a couple of nights on short notice so I didn't have to deal with parking. I went at the end of August/ beginning of September and there were less people than I expected. The shuttles within the park were only half full at the most when I was there. A tip for people without kids - Plan your park visits during the weeks when school season starts. There's definitely less people around. You guys live in a wonderful area of the US! I plan to return soon.
You two do a really great job on these videos - The southwest is one of my favourite spots especially for the mountain biking and you both really do a great job of covering so many useful points. Thank you!!!! Plottin a trip for late March/early April 2023 and these are perfect for planning!
My wife and I are taking the Mighty 5 Road Trip this March 18-25. Been watching a lot of yalls content as I get prepped and planned. We went on our honeymoon to Arizona(Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Flagstaff, Sedona, Phoenix and Tucson) around the same time 2 years ago and loved the weather so figured it would be the perfect time for Utah as well. Hopefully I was right! lol Regardless we are super stoked!! Flying into Vegas and then spending a whole day at each park + an extra day in Moab . Planning for all the hikes we can pack in a day and tons of Jeep OHV trail rides and whatever in between.
We went to Utah for the first time May 2021. I used your videos to plan our trip and even asked some questions- which you guys actually responded to so that was super helpful! Thank you. We flew into St. George and stayed in Kanab. My biggest win was finding a Walmart between St. George and Kanab. We scheduled a pick-up and got all of our groceries and essentials. A little difficult to fit it all in with our luggage coming straight from the airport, but it was a life saver. We have some food allergies and it would have been hard to get all the food items we needed at the local Kanab grocery store. If I went again I would just pick up the special diet foods at Walmart and save all the common items for the Kanab stores. Better for space. We LOVED staying in Kanab. The views are incredible. The town is charming and has some good food spots. It was a good jumping off point for all we wanted to do. We visited Zion (highly suggest stopping at Thunderbirds on the way. Such a cute little diner), Bryce Canyon, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We also did some smaller stops like Kayaking at Sand Hollow, sand sledding at Coral Pink Dunes, and OUR FAVORITE-- exploring the Red Cliffs Recreation Area. Then we took a day to drive a big loop into Northern AZ to see the Marble Canyon area, Horseshoe Bend, Lee's Ferry + Navajo Bridge, Cliff Dwellers (+ great restaurant), Vermillion Cliffs, drove through the top of the Kaibab National Forrest (look our for wildlife!), took in the Le Ferve Overlook, and some more stops I'm probably forgetting. One place we stopped in was a visitors center and it had a lot of info on Dinosaurs. It was right over the Arizona border but I can't remember the name. It was a spontaneous stop we thought was just for a bathroom break, but ended up being super cute. Plus, we got to try to cactus candy which was fun. It was an incredible loop following I-89A and I might stay in Kanab again just for the convenience of doing that loop. Our kids were 6 and 8 and we had the grandparents. Even though we spent all day driving there are so many stops and just raw beauty no one complained. We all LOVED it. IF you stay in Kanab my greatest advice would be to pack the car with lunch/dinner and plenty of snacks and a cooler for drinks. You can go for hours without seeing a single stop for food or water. Don't expect to be able to grab lunch or dinner anywhere. Always plan ahead for food and water- we had some hungry drives! Poor planning on our part. We always stayed longer than expected wherever we went because it's all so much to take in. We are already planning another trip to take some more of our family along and to visit some more places in the area we didn't have time for. I would welcome suggestions from anyone of other fun places to visit that are moderately kid friendly within 2-3 hours of Kanab! One thing we didn't get to do is explore any cliff caves and that's for sure on our list this next trip.

As far as "what to wear"??? Leave the spandex to Cheryl! I'll stick with my tactical gear LOL...and as far as wondering how "people who are used to living with humidity feel about...." the dry climate? I'll take that one on for you: they LOVE it.
If you're at Zion for awhile and you've seen everything you've wanted to in the park and have more time to kill then sure. It's about an hour away. If not, I'd suggest staying in Zion and seeing it all.
By the way, currently my husband would like to do Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Canyon de Chelly, Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde, Canyonlands, Arches, Capitol Reef Bryce and Zion in a 2 weeks. That seems like too much. Can you help us narrow it down?
Hi there. Some of the places you mention, we haven't been before but of those we're familiar with, I'd suggest the following: 2 days in Grand Canyon, 1 day doing Antelope and possibly the north rim of Grand Canyon, 2-4 days in Arches & Canyonlands, 1 day in Bryce, 1-2 days in Zion. You'll need to allow travel days as well. Good luck!
Hi Guys! Such a great video crammed full of great information. We are going to be in the Zion area around October 12 to the 17th. Wonder if that falls during your state's holiday fall break time? Thanks!
@@WereintheRockies Thank you for that insight. This is exactly the type of information that will help us plan well and have reasonable expectations when we get there!
Thank you for subscribing! I'm not sure about rest stops but there is a city, Mesquite, NV, about halfway between Vegas and St. George that has plenty of gas stations and a few parks if you need to get out and stretch your legs.
Thanks for all the helpful videos. Do you think it’s possible/realistic to plan a day to do Angels Landing (assuming permit is acquired) in the morning and The Narrows in the afternoon? Planning to visit late July. Thanks in advance!
Forgot to bring it up! You'll see deer, turkeys, bighorn sheep, and cool birds. But you'll just see them as you ride the shuttle or perhaps while you're driving. There isn't really wildlife viewing areas so much.
In the park you can eat at the Zion Lodge - they have a cafe and a sit down. Oscar’s in Springdale is popular and serves big portions. There are tons of places in St George - black bear diner and hash house a go go are popular, esp for breakfast.
Love you videos--very informative and helpful, but you have made one error in this Zion overview. While the South campground is indeed kinda "rough" dry camping, the Watchman campground has both paved RV sites and electric hook-ups in loops A and B. We have used those electric hookups to run the A/C when it's hot since 2012. With that exception, your videos are priceless!
Some of your videos are private, specifically the Zion shuttle one and the angels landing hike “how to”. Are you going to be releasing those at all? Your channel is an incredible resource, and you definitely keep me excited for my trip this summer!!
People who want to hike to the very top of Angels Landing will need a permit. The permits are given through a lottery system. You can watch our whole video about it here: th-cam.com/video/57GErsvKz84/w-d-xo.html
Bryce Canton is much better than Zion. Shuttle system sucks & parking is theft. It’s great if you like to hike, that’s it. The drive is better than the hikes.
Not sure how far you can go with this channel without going on location or voice overs. Or better sound and room quality. Videos are too long. Love your personalities, but……..Time to revamp
After 4 years of pain and extreme patience, we cannot wait our next family trip to come very soon !!! You guys are the best guides ever 😊

Good luck!
Can you go up to Admiral's landing without a lottery pass? Or do you need one just to begin the hike at the start?
You can go to scout lookout without a pass. I have an angels landing video coming our next week about it
Any last minute tips. We are about three hours away from starting out Angels Landing hike.
Good for you!! We are on our own trip right now and we were off the grid today. Hope your hike was great
@@WereintheRockies Our hike was amazing. Tough but well worth it.
Is your Zion guide in print or is it strictly a downloadable video? I would like to purchase it
Sorry it took us a couple days to respond. I see you already purchased it. Thank you! We hope you love it as well as your trip to Zion.
Hi Guys! Such a great video crammed full of great information. We are going to be in the Zion area around October 12 to the 17th. Wonder if that falls during your state's holiday fall break time? Thanks!
Yep. Lol. Oct 13 and 14 is fall break
@@WereintheRockies Thank you for that insight. This is exactly the type of information that will help us plan well and have reasonable expectations when we get there!
Hi new subscriber 😍 thank you so much
Looking forward to our trip
Is there any rest area along the way from Vegas to Zion? Thank you again
Thank you for subscribing! I'm not sure about rest stops but there is a city, Mesquite, NV, about halfway between Vegas and St. George that has plenty of gas stations and a few parks if you need to get out and stretch your legs.
@@WereintheRockies thank you and God Bless you guys
@@jengsmith2320 you’re welcome!
@@jengsmith2320 also don’t miss Valley of Fire state park!
Thanks for all the helpful videos. Do you think it’s possible/realistic to plan a day to do Angels Landing (assuming permit is acquired) in the morning and The Narrows in the afternoon? Planning to visit late July. Thanks in advance!
It is possible. It is unusual, and of course you need to be in good shape, but it's possible.
@@WereintheRockies thanks for the reply! We will give her hell!
Just found this. What about wildlife viewing?
Forgot to bring it up! You'll see deer, turkeys, bighorn sheep, and cool birds. But you'll just see them as you ride the shuttle or perhaps while you're driving. There isn't really wildlife viewing areas so much.
I was just in zion. The south campground is closed and all the trees in the campground are dead.
😥
is there a place to eat at Zion National Park?
In the park you can eat at the Zion Lodge - they have a cafe and a sit down. Oscar’s in Springdale is popular and serves big portions. There are tons of places in St George - black bear diner and hash house a go go are popular, esp for breakfast.
Did you meet Joshua Graham?
Nope
Are masks still required on the shuttles?
I believe you do not have to wear a mask but that's subject to change.
I would say other than water, have some electrolyte solution like gatorade. It prevents dehydration.
Yes, electrolyte solution and/or salty snacks work great. Thanks for watching.
Why not the angels???
Why??? Please
Where is the place called sand hils and let kids to running around?
You might be thinking of Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park nearby: www.utah.com/destinations/state-parks/coral-pink-sand-dunes-state-park/
Thanks for watching and the correction. Have a wonderful day.
👍
Some of your videos are private, specifically the Zion shuttle one and the angels landing hike “how to”. Are you going to be releasing those at all?
Your channel is an incredible resource, and you definitely keep me excited for my trip this summer!!
Thanks Ashley! Yes, if they are private they are scheduled to be released soon. Those are coming out in the next two weeks!
Stay on the side way less driving if you are planning on seeing Bryce or north rim
Lottery for what???? I’m confused
People who want to hike to the very top of Angels Landing will need a permit. The permits are given through a lottery system. You can watch our whole video about it here: th-cam.com/video/57GErsvKz84/w-d-xo.html
👏👏👏👏👏👏✌🏼❤️🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆👋👋👋👋
Bryce Canton is much better than Zion. Shuttle system sucks & parking is theft. It’s great if you like to hike, that’s it. The drive is better than the hikes.
Bryce is great! And the drive in Zion really is great, isn't it?
No, I know it has too much abuse from visitors.
Vandalism, off-road vehicle distributed trash,
and worse. A Red Light District it isn't. Yet.
Not sure how far you can go with this channel without going on location or voice overs. Or better sound and room quality. Videos are too long. Love your personalities, but……..Time to revamp
Thanks for your feedback Ron
THANK YOU GUYS!!!!
