What I'll say about the 128 tick discussion, I'm glad it's the same tick rate across the board. I think it's important that everyone is playing the same game with the same lineups and what not. That said, we can't have people getting killed around corners and delays in firing animations. I imagine they're going to do everything they can to make it work with 64 tick but we may end up on 128 tick anyways. As long as the game feels good, consistent and it's as fair as possible for everyone, I don't care what they do.

I think people are forgetting that tournaments will be played at LAN with everybody on the same ping. The subtick for shooting is pretty good, its the delay and desync of peeks and swings thats the major issue which will be alot less on LAN even at 64tick. When everybody has the same amount of delay the amount of lag compensation the server has to do to keep 10 people in as best sync as possible is alot less and thus more stable. When there is a variance of ping from 5-80 between 10 different players things get alot more tricky. 128ticks can provide the server with alot more information per second in order to make the lag compensation calculate as accurately as possible but as i said 64tick will be alot better with the sub5 ping. There will be way less variance and thus way less rollbacks etc between clients needs to occur. Think how long its taken fighting games to get a decent lag compensating netcode and thats peer2peer between just 2 clients most of the time. Add a middle man (server) and make it 10 clients.... this stuff isnt as easy as people think. But with all that being said, valve could give 128 tick but that would literally DOUBLE their costs of operation for cs2 and they cannot let others make them look bad anymore by providing a better experience than they do. Can't nag them for 128tick if nobody can have it now can ya.

you guys work in the industry for 20 years, and have to speculate so much. crazy to me. when they ported the game to source 2 engine they noticed shots dont connect on 64 tick. thats why they added the subtick, so people can at least play the beta and try shit out. when you host a 128 tick server the game completely breaks down, and its like you change air acceleration or other internal values. the game doesnt function normally anymore. moon gravity jumps, and the server refresh time for input like jump, and shoot is immediate with almost no downtime.

when they ported the game to source 2 engine they noticed shots dont connect on 64 tick.
thats why they added the subtick, so people can at least play the beta and try shit out. when
you host a 128 tick server the game completely breaks down, and its like you change air acceleration
or other internal values. the game doesnt function normally anymore. moon gravity jumps, and the
server refresh time for input like jump, and shoot is immediate with almost no downtime.

Valve decided to have standard servers. All servers the same so PROs cant fake being better because of tick rate difference.

I disagree with Prof - if you need expert opinion, you need to ask the expert, not a layman. This is why using ropz for testing tickrates was the best choice. If I want to buy a good monitor I shouldn't ask my granny for advice who can barely tell 12 from 24 fps. You might not feel the difference right now, but there are a vast number of people out there who just might, and if you don't make the product the best possible, it might lead to a bad experience down the line.
