Is it possible that Megan actually did not know? Im not saying what happened to this designer is right. I am suggesting that Fashion Nova is the culprit and not Megan. I worked in merchandising for a large retailer and when they partnered with big names, it was to help the big names bring their followers to the brand. The big names are never actually "designing" clothes. The company's (Fashion Nova) have in-house designers who will work with the celebrity and ask for direction in terms of what they "like" but the celebrity is not working on this or researching any of the designs. Im sure Megan was there for 3 meetings tops and it was mainly fittings and then a photo-shoot. In a court of law, this designer def would not win against Fashion Nova. And its interesting the designer wanted Megan to reach out to her but she took her rant straight to a live. If she "knows" the team, why didn't she just reach out to them and let them know her position? I also think the term "know" is used loosely here. It is quite possible that she has a business relationship and not a personal one with Megan's Glam/Style team. But it may have been Megan's management team who got her the deal with Fashion Nova. Both sides may have never crossed. Just a thought.

Yeah...I have been rooting for her....but that approach was not it. She didn't respond well at all. What she said made sense... kind of (her not knowing personally what the details are about where her clothing comes from unless she is told.) I cant hold her all the way responsible for that....just partly *she could have asked.

But really in this situation because Megan team order from her, and they know her styles, Megan should send her a check. She could take it to court...
However, no telling how many stylist is copying the outfit now. However, if the stylist can prove to the courts she made the dress first... then she will be able to win in court. It's all about prove when it comes to cases like that.

It's a very simple/basic design though, so it might be hard to prove it. I've seen designs like that at Rainbow, & places like that, since I was a teen & recently, and I'm 38 now.

the only major designer who has taken them to court is Versace and that's because fashion nova used their print that they had a design patten on. The reason other designers haven't taken fashion nova to court, is because 1.) its very expensive, and 2.) fashion nova has found a loop hole to copy other people's designs without getting into legal trouble.

I'm beyond disappointed in Megan's response. When I first heard the interview, all I could do is shake my head. You could tell her team did not prepare her for that question. However, I wish she, herself would've been able to answer it better. The designer was right, she completely missed an opportunity to show unity and make this right for those Black women designers.

The FN team reaches out to whichever celebrity is popping or on the rise. Like they did with Cardi. But these celebs have little to NO hand in the clothing. They are given several photos of clothes to choose from and simply pick what they like most. The remaining picks will still go on the site, just not under the celebrity. Megan didn't know the dress was a dupe because she doesn't have any creative direction with her line. (Sometimes they don't even pick them) But she can't admit that. These celebrities are just a face, they dont know shit 😅. So sorry to these designers, I personally spoke with destiny after she called out Kim K. These artists are amazing. I would love to work with them and wear their pieces, giving them full credit. Damn, black women are creative AF

I understand being upset tht she felt her design had been stolen. However, her initial statement was directed partially at Meg and it wasnt respectful. But whn Meg responds she is required to speak to your approval. I disagree. You said wht u said and Megan said wht she said.
Meg absolutely knows who her team talks to. Meg has always been talking about being active in her make up and clothing choice, but suddenly Meg don't know shit?

Why would they leave it up and use their name and megs name to make money for her? If she thinks the design is so good then she can sell it on her site. Which I'm sure wasnt selling at all before this.
