    Yes it's really nice to see someone walk us through the steps like this, so much better than the ingame training modules. Many thanks.

    I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. I find landing A10C using TACAN/ILS to be overwhelming and I often find other people's tutorials on the subject to be lacking because they assume you to have general knowledge of the HSI and ADI. I like the fact that you took the time to explain how it all works together and how to utilize the indicators. I look forward to practicing more controlled landings.

    Cap, the course line isn’t the glide slope. It’s just basically either using the GPS to create a line as a reference from a point, or identifying a radial sent out by the tacan station and using the CDI to tell how far off the center of that line or radial you are. The horizontal bar and the needle to the left of the ADI is your glide slope. You never want to actually climb to intercept it unless you are dangerously low. That makes you have to do radical movements to reintercept going down, which when closer to the ground puts you at more risk for CFIT. All you need to do to intercept if you’re low, is level off. You’ll intercept the GS with ease. Also, because you’re getting closer to the airfield, or the station, the distance between the radials in both the horizontal and vertical are closer together, so your instruments will be much more sensitive, showing deviations. You need small corrections when in close to make the runway with the needles centered. Don’t look at the HSI when set up on the ILS, you have a localizer line and a GS line, those are all you need once you receive the ILS. One more thing, ILSs are meant to bring you down to the thousand foot markers, not the threshold.

      Pretty funny because that bad habit is called "chasing the needle." Also that is incorrect. ILS is meant to bring you down as far as you want depending on your planes equipment. I can get down to 200 feet in my cessna. An airliner will use ILS to go all the way to the ground in a CAT II/III approach. The 1000 foot thing is a non-precision approach like a localizer or vor approach. Much love for showing the equipment in the a10 though!

    • @One_Piloty_Boy
      @One_Piloty_Boy 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jet Frost Gaming no, I mean horizontally, the glide slope on a CAT II or III and even normal precision approaches will bring you 1000 ft down the runway length. Same with PAPIs and VASIs.

    • @jetfrostgaming
      @jetfrostgaming 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@One_Piloty_Boy Ohhh thats what you meant okay. Because 1000 feet fast the threshold is the "aiming point." Makes sense

    CAP, ILS is not bugged, just naturally confusing. If you zoom in fully on the ILS power switch, you'll see a black tip that sticks out. So the reason you see half a white line when it's on is because of that not so visible black tip pointing to power. It's not very visible, too bad it's not a different color so you can see it! It confused me when I first started learning the A-10C. Hope this helps and keep up the good work with your tutorials!

    nice video, you can contrl+ 0 numpad and you get a locked view of the panel, then you click 3 on numpad and you get a cdu on the right console. I find this a better way to insert informations on this system.

    To go higher, increase throttle. To go lower, decrease throttle. To go faster pitch the plane down, to go slower pitch the plane up.

    • @jemand8462

      that doesn'T make ANY sense. Arming the gun simply allows it to shoot. You'Re talking about trim.

      @@jemand8462 Arming the gun does more than “simply allow you to shoot” The aircraft will pitch down to counter the guns recoil when fired. So I believe you are right to think that the other comment doesn’t make sense. I was meaning that there is more going on when arming the gun than simply allowing you to shoot.

    You only fly a real ILS down to minimums, then continue only if you see the runway. If not you must execute the missed approach procedure...

    You can check the CDU for "MV" Magnetic Variation and it will tell you what the deviation is for each base. There is also a panel way at the back of the right console which deals with variation adjustment. (though i havent dealt with it yet. Nor have a made a landing in soup below minimums.)

      he's using quick and dirty methods. Nothing wrong with that if you have a life and not all the time in the world to learn what pilots in the real world learn for years full-time. Also, how exactly do you look at the ILS panel leaning back without squinting (= zoom)? You don't have a Numpad+3 key in real life.. so what's the solution smartass?
