You are doing so well with these videos!! I have no suggestions except to keep making them🙏🏼 thank you for all the warnings for us new repairmen - there are so many misleading videos out there.

      Hello Tyler
Thanks for the encouragement. I have not watched all TH-cam videos on film camera repairs, but I have watched a few to see how other channels present their work. I've noticed that many have no background in camera repair at all. I started repairing cameras in 1978, and have been doing so for 45 years. I know there are some small mistakes in my videos, but I don't go back to correct them because of time constraints. I also sometimes use the wrong word in my videos. This happens at my age. LOL But, anyone who watches my videos can be sure that I am a real camera repair man, and not a TH-cam amature who may or may not know what he is doing.

@@FilmCamera_Vlog Well your experience shows! Would you have any advice for new repairmen? I feel like one can become overwhelmed very easily. I’ve started just 8 months ago and your videos have provided me with so much helpful information. Thank you again for your videos!! Keep up the incredible work.

I’m completely unable to unscrew the advance lever retaining screw, even with appropriate tools. I have tried heating up the screw with a soldering iron, as I have heard it could loosen it up, but the screw doesn’t budge. Help!

      Hello Nathan
I am not sure what to tell you. It should unscrew if you turn it counter clockwise (to the left). Sometimes they are really tight, but it should back out. The danger is using too much force and breaking off the thread in the advance shaft. You need to use a hand tool like I have in this video that is heavy and strong. A spanner wrench will not work. I can't think of any other suggestions to get the retaining screw out. The only other thing I can suggest is to buy a non-working AE-1 off eBay. Buy the cheapest one you can find, and remove the retaining screw on that camera for the experience to see that it can be done and see what the parts looks like. This will give you the confidence to proceed.
