Or when they make a Unibody laptop that's not really a unibody. Or when the solder joints on the chip that creates Gpu vCore go bad they slap a piece of rubber ontop of it to mash it into the board using the pressure from the casing instead of just reflowing the solder with better solder so they don't go bad. Definitely does things right.

It's also used a lot for 3d art and movies actually, mostly to scan smaller objects to be assets but also some bigger stuff as well. Amazing tool for people in the vfx industry
I have never heard any 3d artist using lidar for their project
There's a software called "meshroom", which works on any pc with Nvidia GPU and provides far more detailed and High quality 3d models by just taking a video of any object
Polycam works wonders on my iPhone and iPad. It supports LiDAR scanning and photo scanning too, and you can export it as an FBX
@@-_wanderer that’s because LiDAR is better used for room scanning but with small objects you’re better off using photos with a DSLR instead. Reality Capture is one of the industry standard software some studios use for photogrammetry, and it’s been fun to try out

I agree with your statement that when APPLE does something they do it right, for the most part that is true but in the new iOS 18 update you can finally, I repeat, finally truly customize the control center and lock screen to a degree. But for the control center it is kind of a pain to move those icons around where you want them if you have a whole bunch of icons, or if you need to move them onto the second page of the control center.
As far as I know, in the iPhone 12 or 13, you have to place it on a gimbal to scan properly, but looking at that glitch, it seems like you still need a gimbal to scan properly.
From what is saw its much faster than photogrammetry.
My pixel 4xl that came out in 2019 two years before apples first lidar device, and has a lidar sensor on the front, used for motion controls on things like timers, music, alarms, ETC
This would be great to add to vr head sets so your entire house becomes a play area and others can come in to your very home, of course having some safety features like being able to kick people and makig the windows black so they can’t see where you live.

Ar Lidar Flitsy ia the best app ever. They added sfx but adding more water bubbles effects would make ir winning app!
We actually used it before in the measure app and the camera app finding the focus faster in bad lighting conditions

First original Apple idea
As someone who primarily uses Android devices, this is one of the main reasons why I would want an iPhone
As someone who’s deep in AR and graphics and motion who’s a fulltime real estate I’ve been working on a few projects using LiDAR and its helps well when it comes to showings however legally we’re not allowed to use it for anything else as if we were to use it as evidence it would be deemed “invalid”
Now I can add my actual room in proportion as my Oculus Quest 2 home!!!
Polycam has been doing this since the first iPhone with Lidar shout them
AR will be crazy. This together with their upcoming AR glasses have huge potential

This is a game changer for photogrammetry. Imagine the video game and film possibilities! UE5 with this would probably look pretty darn good considering the quality of Apple’s cameras!
Dont have to imagine what exists. Lg v60 has a better ToF censor which means more in depth and better resolution when 3d ar mapping. And it came out years ago so they're 5x cheaper.

I do use the sensor to measure the length of objects pretty regularly
Apple is already using the LiDAR sensor to help with portrait mode photos and to get extremely accurate measurements in the measure app
You can scan someone you know and legit have a model of them which you can possibly 3d print.

I used it to buy my furniture at a market. Just scanned my house and then used it in the store to see if it will fit in the place I had in mind or not. This was really good!

im gonna start flat hunting soon. would be kinda fun if i could just hop in, scan everything and take my time to play everything out. but i dont have a high end phone, and also it would probably look weird to any person that accompanies you during a house tour

@@Tyler_Fuller They would have back door access, they down graded the battery when they first came out so they could use the gps/location to track someone in case of a emergency. They made the phones so the battery can’t be pulled out for privacy in turn they can hear and see everything said and done. Considering all these big techs are alphabet companies of the gov with front men , nothing would surprise me to what they can do.
I have black tape on my phone and all devices, I don’t trust them or anyone who could hack them. Even mark Zuckerberg had black tape on his laptop camera.
