Watch this video of when you are switching and derailing. You need to be sitting with your butt half hanging off the hood top on the side opposite your legs. Otherwise the engine is leaning towards your legs side and lifting the wheels on the opposite side

Ya I figured that out later on after ripping off the rear axle chain lol

or better yet. why not just sit on it like you do sitting on a horse, then the weight is evenly distributed over both sides of the wheels.
