Its funny because upon clicking on it I assumed this video wouldn't be helpful at all. Glad I didnt click off it.
As a single dad DIY'er, I get my 4 yr old daughter every weekend. Sometimes her hair is not done. I perfected bantu knots from my memories watching girlfriends back in college getting their hair done, and I'm a descent braided, but I never knew the secret to cornrows. It's about to be on and poppin'. The best part is that my daughter loves when I do her hair and she tells anyone who will listen...especially when in line at the grocery store.
So...have you perfected cornrows yet?! My dad used to braid my ponytail when I was young and had really long hair...he also had a ponytail that I used to love to braid for him 🤣 you're making great memories!!!
Aww I'm sure she's gonna remember it forever my dad was there but absent never once have we played a game or anything together. Shes gonna appreciate it for years to come
Married a Trini man and now we are stranded on a mountain in Brazil during the pandemic, far from his cousin who does his hair. I've watched countless tutorials on how to care for his hair - like hours - and this has been the most helpful by far. TH-cam tutorials have taught me how to do countless things, but I was starting to doubt my faith in the TH-cam educational system until I found this video. I had been giving him french braids and he kept saying "you doin dem d inside way" and when I heard you describe it that way, I knew that you were the woman with the information I needed. Thank you for doing this.
Not the TH-cam educational system!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 TH-cam taught me how to cook, how to get my drivers license, how to get my real estate license, how to live in my car temporarily, how to fix countless things....TH-cam’s educational system is bomb! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’m a 10 year old girl and my Mom is always trying to do my hair in braids. She just can’t seem to do the top of scalp when cornrowing. I showed her a lot of videos. Non of them really worked since we can’t even see what they’re doing. But I’m so glad I found this video! We can see what your doing, see your mistakes, your saying EVERY step, and then this one video got my Mom to finally be able to do cornrows!! Thank you SO much!! 😘😘😊☺️😃😁
Girl!!! You officially thought me how to braid...the middle piece tip was the key to the puzzle. I was finally able to braid a cornrow after 30 years!!! I needed your tip!! I thought I would never know how to braid a cornrow Lol. Thank you so much!!

I’m 15 and have been trying to learn how to cornrow since I was 7. I’ve tried for many years but I finally have hope I might actually get it this time. Wish me luck
Lool it's one of those ones that you have to watch whilst actually doing it. Like if you have a dolls head in front of you with loads of hair then keep pausing and practicing
Eyedah Dames this looks great !I have a 4 year old but she's very tender headed so difficult to practice on her but I really wanna be able to do nice hairstyles on her ie cornrows etc. What sort of doll would you say is good to practice with? I was thinking of getting a bratz doll...
You can buy afro hairdresser practice heads on Amazon for about £23. They come with a clamp to hold the head in place on a table edge and it's real hair too. Mine arrived yesterday and I am going to use it to learn how to cornrows and hopefully do crochet braids as my daughter will not sit still for long enough for me to practice on her.
I’ve been doing this the wrong way all the time I have been braiding it inwards all this time and upon watching this I learnt it in a day thank you soo much now I don’t have to ask anyone to comb my daughter hair practice makes perfect
this has got to be the best video i have seen to learn how to do this. i struggled through college to get a basic cornrow and now i think with your video i can master it, the way you repeat everything never got boring and i dont feel so stupid now i always knew i braided inward and i could never master outward but now i think with your explaination i will finally get it !! thankyou thankyou thankyou
Gone to many hair places and they were all so mean to me and would push my neck around. I got fed up with the abuse and am going to learn to do this myself! Thanks for taking time to teach us. I will learn this!
I'm sooooo happy I found this video. I've been braiding for years and couldn't figure out why my braids never looked like my hairdresser...inward vs outward. I just did the outward method and its perfect!!!
ayeee after all these years of my family trying and trying to teach me how to cornrow u make one amazing tutorial and i can do it just like that... that's why u r my favorite youtuber... Bristol subbie btw ayeeeeeeee
Wow your tutorial just changed my life right now. My son has been growing his hair out for a year now and recently got a thot boy fade with the top longer. The hair in the front isnt quite long enough to be pulled back in the man-bun so I've been trying to learn to cornrow so I can braid his hair into a bun. I am so used to braiding normally, I could not figure out how to get my fingers to braid under to make a cornrow. This tutorial is so clear and I actually did a decent cornrow!! Finally. I was so frustrated. Thank you.
This is my fav. of your cornrow tutorials because you make it very clear that you are grabbing the hair from one side (the middle) everytime. This was a big question I had when i first started out. Then, pulling the amount of hair you need with your thumb always confused me but once I started to get the rhythm down: for me it was "1,2, grab hair, 1, 2, grab hair..." it just became obvious that that was the easiest finger to use to grab the hair with. Also, pointing out to keep the fingers close to the scalp were big pointers for me. Thank you for your videos. I wish I could post my progress cause they're turning out really good.
Best video on TH-cam for braiding you I’ve explained overhand and underhand braiding to me in less then 2 minutes and I understand ❤️ thank you I appreciate you
This video made me realize WHY I COULDNT BRAID. I've been braiding THE WRONG WAY my whole life. Apparently I've been braiding inward my whole life and not the other way around. If you try to corn row your hair by braiding inward it will not work. You need to learn to braid the proper way first. Then start to cornrow. If you learn how to braid outward just by simple plaiting, use that outward method to corn row. That's it. I started watching these videos at 10 pm. It's 1 am and I just did my first corn row. It's ugly, but it worked. Outward is the key.
I was today years old when I finally did a cornrow. I can fishtale, dutch braid, french braid etc, it was that tip about flipping the center piece that was it...I am so glad I watched this video
I can't count how many videos have watched and how many people have tried to teach me but the cornrows just wasn't tight.. but I just didn't get it until I watched your video .. thank you so much
New subscriber here. This is the best video I have seen explaining how to do cornrows for complete beginners like me. I have bought an amazing afro hairdressing practise head off Amazon for only £23 which arrived yesterday. It has real afro hair on it and comes with a clamp for fixing it in place on the edge of a table or on a tripod. I am going to use your video to try and learn how to cornrows and hopefully do crochet braids on my daughters hair once I've mastered it. Thank you so much for helping us white mums of mixed race kids who have no family to teach us how to do it. Respect!
Ah amazing! So glad I can help! I tried looking for such a hairdressing head, I will definitely check out Amazon! That way I can make way more videos :)
Thanks so much for this! My two youngest sons are mixed, and I've started braiding my preschooler's hair, since it's pretty long. The one time I did cornrows, I was like, "Why doesn't it look right.." I thought it was just because I had never done it before and messed up somewhere along the way, but I've always known how to French braid so it wasnt too dificult to figure out how to manipulate the hair on a smaller scale.. felt confused and a bit discouraged, so we had his Aunty do it the next time. But now I know I just was braiding inwards instead of out! 😆 I didn't realise that braiding inwards is what makes it a french braid! He's got box braids atm, and I'm excited to try my hand rows again in a couple weeks. 💕
Single Dad and just found this . Best one I've seen by far. Thanks for this, great job plus the lady who's hair you're doing is FINEEEEEEEEEE. How shoot my shot lol. Thank you!!!

I’ve been on the struggle bus for years until I saw this video. I actually braided my daughter’s hair for the first time after seeing this video and it came out pretty good.
Thank you so much for this video. I started learning how to do my own cornrows but I just couldn't do anyone else's hair because the hand placements were confusing. This video has made it so easy. Last week I did my niece's hair for the first time and she was so happy and said she got so many compliments at school.❤
To everyone who has been trying to do there best doing at this. I want all of u to try hard and never give up, because if u keep on doing it , u will be happy that u have succeeded. So keep on trying what u r doing now at this.
I've watched so many braid tutorial videos and this is the only one that explain inward and outward braiding. Now I know why I can never cornroll right, I've learned from this video that I French braid when I plait. I use to always wonder why it was so hard to get my hands in the right position and sense I thought I know how to do box braids I couldn't figure out why I couldn't cornroll, they looked so different than everyone's and they come out looking terrible! Well now I know why and for me it's so hard learning to cornroll this way because I'm so use to having my hands in the French braid position when I plait and do box braids. My hands feel so weird when I try to put my hands in the right position and when I go under the middle hair like in this video I can't figure out how to grab the other side. It's so complicated for me lol thank you for explaining this.
This was so helpful. I've never finished a single conrow but after watching this I did ten of them on my daughter. They are not as neat but will get better with time
The best of all the videos ive watched, and believe me i have watched many. Why this is The best is because now i know the first STEP, the most important one, how to pick up 3 sections and which one goes under and on top and so on. I believe im not the only one who did a normal braid and then collected hair and went, - what the heeell is this i just made- 😩
Thank you very much for this video, I’ve been trying to learn how to cornrow my boyfriends hair and haven’t been able to understand it(even after his grandmother showed me) until now! Best tutorial by far
You’re such an amazing teacher I tried my first cornrows today they came out lose but next time I will watch this video am sure I will do better.. another issue I found was collecting hair it kept getting tangled together yet I had fully detangle the hair
Thankyou so muchhhh, ive been watching video for the past week but always got even more confused I was about to give up until I saw this video, straight after watching it I tried on my mums head and it worked, honestly thanks so muchhhhh❤️❤️
YESSSSS THANK YOU SO MUCHH !!! Me and my little god sister and family was going to a dinner and my mom don’t know how to do hair and she didn’t want a ponytail I did her hair thanks to you !
My scalp braids are now sticking to my scalp. (not loose YAAAYYY) But how it's frizzy. I had to look it up because my hair is thick and course. I had to look it up again. Love the vid
omgggg thank you so much I've been braiding wrong my whole life I've always started with one of the side pieces after 14 years I can finally do it right.
Moving the pieces of hair "under", begining with the middle piece helps me to understand. Doing it is something different. My granddaughter has long curly hair. I MUST learn how to cornrow her hair this summer. I'm so over it! LOL How did my mother leave this Earth before making sure I knew how to do this!😱😂
Omg I finally learned after watching so many other people’s videos, for some reason, this was the one that I finally got it woooo😭✊✊thanks so much 🙏🙏😭🥳
girllll I got this in my recommended I’ve been tryna practice everyone around me can do braids and I can never grasp it but ur helping fr!!! graciassss love ima watch u more ur voice is so soothing to me too lol 😍😍
Thank you soooo much, this really helped me, just by watching the beginning, I knew that this is wonderful, finally I can plait!!!!!!!!!At least straight back, generally any hair style
I'm still trying to learn the canerow technique cause I want to do this on myself and as a kid I always had my mums two friends do this for me like free. So I want to do this on myself cause its a good protective style and always the best for washdays and wigs ❤💕
I do cornrows professionally for a couple of years, but I've been used to place my fingers differently. The result is always neat and as it should be. But I've realised that people on youtube place their fingers in a different way and they manage to braid way faster than I do. That's why I wanted to change my habit, and watch your video. It was really helpful, but as I tried it, it is impossible for me to give a nice result. Is it that "must" for a braider to braid like this? Because habits are habits and can't be really changed... I should have learned that method since the beginning of my braiding career, before I got used to what I do now.
I have watched many many braiding videos trying to learn how to corn row and this is the first one that made me realize that I have been braiding inward not outward and thats why my braids never came out right. Its funny because upon clicking on it I assumed this video wouldn't be helpful at all. Glad I didnt click off it.
ME TOO 😅
same this whole time, i love how detailed she was
Art Is A Passion 24 I was doing the sameeee an no other video ever pointed it out but this one ! ♥️
I braid Inward too. I still have no clue bow to braid outward
Same! Oh my gosh, this was helpful.
Best tip ever for me: "Start with middle piece first and bring it over to your left first!" THANK YOU!
You're welcome!!
That tip has helped me so much as well I'm sitting here trying it like Yaaas finally!
It's so crazy cause just that tip helped me so much too!

this is the best video! You don't use complex hairdresser terms, and you are super nice.
This was so helpful. I've never finished a single conrow but after watching this I did ten of them on my daughter. They are not as neat but will get better with time
I picture it as double dutch jump rope, in wards is inside, outwards is out side! It helps for beginners.
Finally! Now I can perfect my craft with this video! Thanks! 🎉
The best of all the videos ive watched, and believe me i have watched many. Why this is The best is because now i know the first STEP, the most important one, how to pick up 3 sections and which one goes under and on top and so on. I believe im not the only one who did a normal braid and then collected hair and went, - what the heeell is this i just made- 😩
Tell me why this one is the best tutorial yet
My new girlfriend is Jamacian and I have had so much fun doing things with her hair, this tutorial was perfect for a beninner white boy! Nice job
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much! I was always braiding inward and now I finally understand. ❤❤❤
I’ve watched so many of these videos and I just want to say THANK YOU! Your video is the only one that makes sense omg 😃❤️❤️❤️
Ahh amazinggg!! So glad I could help 😁💛
Thank you! 🧡 This video helped me to understand how to do the cornrow. I did it. I’m so happy 🎉
The girl whose hair she is braiding is gorgeous
Thankyou so muchhhh, ive been watching video for the past week but always got even more confused I was about to give up until I saw this video, straight after watching it I tried on my mums head and it worked, honestly thanks so muchhhhh❤️❤️

Blac Hippie Chic Yes! Nobody explained how to start the braid! Hopefully, I will get it this time!
I'm so happy! Your video out of all I've watched helped me do this!! Thank you!!
OMG, you just taught me how to braid in less than 5 mins. I have never been able to do this until today
I'll be watch this video multiple times so I can finally braid my own hair and slap on my lace front wigs now!!!!!
YESSSSS THANK YOU SO MUCHH !!! Me and my little god sister and family was going to a dinner and my mom don’t know how to do hair and she didn’t want a ponytail I did her hair thanks to you !
Definitely a cornrolling method I'll try it to see if it improves the neatness of my braids
did it
Her video is the only that made braiding make sense...I didn’t even know I was braiding inward until I saw this
Facebook algorithm really taught me how to braid!!! I didn’t understand it’s the middle over left first!!! 🥺😭😭🏆🥰💕 thank you 🙏🏽
My scalp braids are now sticking to my scalp. (not loose YAAAYYY) But how it's frizzy. I had to look it up because my hair is thick and course. I had to look it up again. Love the vid
This is the BEST hair tutorial! I’m mixed with thin hair. My daughters have curly thick hair!!!! Thank you Aida 😍😍😍😍 you’re my new favorite channel!
And this technique doesn't look painful at all so I believe my clients will really love it 😍😊
I always get comments from clients saying that I am very gentle. So it is pretty much painless
omgggg thank you so much I've been braiding wrong my whole life I've always started with one of the side pieces after 14 years I can finally do it right.
You really blessed asf 😂 your dexterity is so good 🤟🏽
Moving the pieces of hair "under", begining with the middle piece helps me to understand. Doing it is something different. My granddaughter has long curly hair. I MUST learn how to cornrow her hair this summer. I'm so over it! LOL How did my mother leave this Earth before making sure I knew how to do this!😱😂
Omg I finally learned after watching so many other people’s videos, for some reason, this was the one that I finally got it woooo😭✊✊thanks so much 🙏🙏😭🥳
I literally learned this overnight…thank you

Thank you for the lesson. I understand now. Finally.
Thank you for sharing your talent, I never learned how to braid and your video has helped so much !
Thank you so much a video I actually understand!!!
I'm still trying to learn the canerow technique cause I want to do this on myself and as a kid I always had my mums two friends do this for me like free. So I want to do this on myself cause its a good protective style and always the best for washdays and wigs ❤💕
Girl your a life saver🤗🤗🤗
First video that really helped me ! Thank you
I do cornrows professionally for a couple of years, but I've been used to place my fingers differently.
I have the same issue. I hold the hair so different and i wish i would have learned how to hold the hair differently.
@@mumblesandwool1243 Hopefully we'll learn to cornrow as fast as other people, with our own way!
I have realised that only a few people braid like me. I don't really think it matters how you braid, as long as the end result is good
It’s been awhile since I braid hair in years now. After I watch for a little bit. I caught on. Thank you for the helpful video.
Best video ever, I’ve struggled to cornrow properly as it always looks messy but you explained it beautifully
