    This is so cool. The driving in the beginning looks just like where I live in the US. The road signs, bill boards, grain bins, even down to the crop hybrid markers (was it corn?) in the gently rolling hills. Very cool!

      Uruguay does plant corn but the most common crops as far as I know near the area where he drove through are: soy beans, wheat, sorghum and rapeseed.

    Very mice footage. One of the most prety things of video is the blue sky all the time. Streets look good state and soreoundiing areas are amazing, palms mediterranean type. I really would like to be in Montevideo soon. Greetings from Valdivia, Chile. 😍

    I ve driven in other countries in S. America and this country does not seem like one of the same neighborhood, it is more like a european country from the east, than from South America, why? Uruguay is not a poor country like the others? , I dont understand...

    • @alfonsoirazabal
      @alfonsoirazabal  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! There is indeed poverty here, not like in the rest of South America mainly because of european traditions, customs, and way of life, but we can nevertheless see a lot of poverty depending on where you drive through, and you also see a big difference in culture from neighborhood to neighborhood, not to mention our education system and standard scores are decreasing while other countries are improving, and there has recently been a significant spike in murder rates, delinquency, and morality of our population, which lead us sadly to vote for communist terrorists (literally) that are trying to reshape the history of our country and paint themselves as the heroes, and Mujica (an ex president) as the Messiah or the second coming, having killed peaceful people, just like our foreign affairs minister did (yes, foreign affairs minister), which ultimately lead to a dictatorship in our 1973 which lasted for 12 years. Those communist terrorists are now presidents, and most of what the international ma'.inZ Tr,eam meDÍ,!a says about our country is false, made up, or completely staged. The reality of our country is very sad and I can see no way back, sorry for being too honest, but it is the only way to tell the truth, behind everything the Internat,.io,nal Pr,'e;ss says there is always something obscure that's hidden, in our case, it is what I just mentioned to you.

      I started reading about Uruguay, it does not seem as bad country as you say. I even heard a speech given by Mujica in Rio de Janeiro, his ideology did not seem bad to me, although everyone knows about their own place. I will visit Uruguay in September and I will draw my own conclusions, as I always do with everything, thanks for the response, although I regret that you are so sad in your country!
      For your consolation, no country is paradise on earth, everyone has their evils and virtues, because of being made by humans, you understand me.

      @@abelardfaure-dumont8735 Sure, it just happens that the media always shows the good side of things but never the bad one, if you happen to come here and want to visit nice places and things, I recommend you go to Punta del Este, Carrasco (Montevideo), if you like older architecture you can also go to Colonia del Sacramento, or Ciudad Vieja (Montevideo), all of those cities and neighborhoods are located on the southern part of Uruguay and are pretty close to each other, if you also want to see how an average Uruguayan lives, you can go to other parts of Montevideo like La Blanqueada or Aguada, (although there's not much to do there) or to the small cities in the country side, although not too many people can speak English here, I happen to live in the capital (Montevideo) although I am from one of those small cities. If you happen to like the country side you can also visit "Grutas del Palacio" which are some ancient caverns used by natives ("Indians") preceding the colonization of the Country, still with some writings on rocks, or if you like Mountains and hills, you can go to "Minas" in Cerro Largo, or if you'd like to see how an average Uruguayan "cowboy" works you can go to "Tambo Lapataia" where they show you how cows are milked, and how is "Dulce de Leche" made, and lots of other stuff. If you like thermal waters you can also visit the "Termas" in Salto or Artigas, there's lots of thing you can do actually.

      I do not speak english very well either, I speak spanish, greek and italian better, everything I write here I translate from french, thanks for the tourist information, although I am not visiting tourist places or the most luxurious of each country, my visit will be to the protected areas, the lunarejo valley, the caves of salamanca, the ´sierra de las animas´, and the hill of the crows. I chose those places because I am a hiker and climber. Greetings and thanks for your kind replies.

      Julio! Como andas? Use la cámara de hace tiempo cuando tenía un Samsung Galaxy S5, y encajaba justo en un portador de GPS. Tenía la opción de hacer un timelapse. Después use el Adobe After Effects para hacer unas mínimas ediciones al video. Saludos

      Justamente el problema que tuve fue con el portador ya que me quedaba apuntando demasiado hacia arriba y no era muy practico. Pero bueno seguiré buscando; las dashcam que venden aquí en Uruguay son de calidad muy baja, ando viendo de importarme una de 1080p y que grabe bien de noche con luces. Gracias. Saludos.

    I'm Brazilian. Good highway, not is perfect but is much better that the highways brazilians.

    • @alfonsoirazabal
      @alfonsoirazabal  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, those highways that are like the "main highways" are pretty good, but actually, the rest is kind of a disaster, haha, as you may know, Montevideo is the capital of Uruguay, so it's most likely to have good highways, compared to the rest of the country, due to a centralized authority called "MTOP" or "Ministerio de Transporte y Obras Públicas" in spanish. and it's currently unfinaced, needing to improve 2000 Km of route, and having only the current money to make 137, haha :)

    • @lMatheusx
      @lMatheusx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alfonso Irazabal Yeah, I think that the country more development of the Latin America is the Chile, no doubts

    • @alfonsoirazabal
      @alfonsoirazabal  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, if you take the HDI (Human Development Index) Chile is currently first in Latin America. And also it is first on the Economic Freedom Index, (and very high if you compare it with the rest of the world) which I consider it to be the most important, so yes. In terms of nominal GDP per capita (not PPP), which basically compares the amount of international goods one can buy, Uruguay is first, but our government is really terrible, haha. Chile is better than ours in government, in my opinion, but is kind of terrible too, haha

    • @lMatheusx
      @lMatheusx 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alfonso Irazabal Yeah, my Brazil has the sixth largest economy in the world, but the distribution of income is very bad and the corruption worsens the things. Unfortunately the government Dilma is the worse of the history, the PIB decreases 1,7 % in that year, the things here only tend worsening. I already gave my country a long time ago :/ and and I thinking in change me for U.S.A, the country of opportunities :)

      uruguay has fascinated me since i was a kid in elementary school in the 1960s. i just wish we had videos like this to give us a ground level look at other countries. i like what i see. only one thing disturbed me; there are almost no markers, nothing hardly to warn of cross traffic, construction, edge of the road, curbs. yikes! in the usa we drive dangerously enough with them , it would be carnage if we didn't have any more than you folks do :) a nice white line down the middle of the road at least gives one the feeling of confidence . thank you for the look at your country that isn't a tourism promotional film. i have friends in other countries who make such videos for FB, Taiwan, Israel, Austria, and they show the world what its like to actually be there.

      Supposedly 110 km/h or 68 m/h, but in this country nobody respects or checks the speed limits, and around the city, 45 km/h in the avenues approximately, but also, nobody respects it or checks it. We Uruguayans are the most terrible drivers you might found on this planet, really, we drive kinda fast in the cities also
