We went to Taiwan and China for a behind-the-scenes look at how bamboo is turned into cups, lunchboxes, toilet paper, and cutlery - and figured out which of these products have the biggest impact on our environment.

As long as we can't grow bamboo in the US, it's unlikely it will replace plastic here. It's too costly to import.

If we again replace one single use plastic with another single-use and throw item, how will it be eco-friendly from any angle? Bamboo is too valuable to be used and thrown away!
Bamboo grows like crazy, 3 feet a day, and is renewable and plentiful. It also composts when discarded.
Bamboo is biodegradable, plastic isn't.
