I wanted a birkin so bad last year, started a purchase history and became friendly with a SA I really liked. Love all the items I purchased, super high quality, but was ghosted by her 2 months ago and honestly I’ve kinda lost interest. I miss the days of luxury actually being luxurious, happy, and exciting.

KarenBritChick is a New York based TH-camr, and like you she is sooooo nice and a joy to watch. Not only was she able to buy from the New York boutique but the Paris one as well. My theory is Hermes has a social media team that monitors vloggers and people like you and Karen who have minimal sales history that totals less than 5k over several years. Vloggers like you make the brand look good and your social media is fun, fresh, and luxury based but not over the top, you are relatable.
I was nvr a fan of the more famous quota bags from Hermes either. The Kelly/Birkins are boring & far too complicated to get into but they look disheveled when ppl leave them open. I agree with you: the game is awful & I won't do it. However, I do own a pink click braclet, a CDC belt, a Lindy bag & a Verroux bag all pre-loved. I was not willing to settle for a colour that H decided to bestow upon me, so I just waited for the exact colour combos I wanted to show up preloved & got a good deal on them. When you pay that much for a bag, you deserve to be able to pick every detail to your preference.

Just wanted to share my H story. I love their bags and wasn't willing to play the game either. Put in my wish back in October 2021, got a call this May and they offered me a Kelly with literally no purchase history. The craftsmanship was incredible. Still, I turned it down because I didn't love the exact combination and all of a sudden they offered me an à la carte. Still can't believe this and it may also be pure luck. However, if it happens it happens. Hope one day you get lucky as well Sophie ❤xoxo

Sophie, amending your wish list is definitely a good idea! Being as focused as possible on the exact size you want shows them that a good deal of thought went into it, and thus, serious interest.
I’m a watch person, and notice it’s the same when I register interest in a hard-to-get watch. I give them a specific model *and* dial color/material. It helps because it shows I’ve done my research.
I hope you get the Constance 😊and as you say, if not, no big deal! (Ironically I think that having that attitude also helps attract the item to you!)

Good for you Sophie! There definitely is a game with Hermès, and CHANEL is now starting that game I understand, but I also think it really depends on the sales person you happen to run into. It sounds like you ran into somebody who is very good and I’m so happy that you have your wish list. Now bring on that Constance!
In my opinion you’ve already started to play that game even though you think you haven’t:) Going back and asking for details, hoping it will “refresh “ the list is kind of playing it. Anyway, I got birkin without any history and connections. I haven’t bought anything at Hermes before I got it ( it was a few years ago though and the rules of putting your name on the wishlist are different now. I needed to make an appointment to do so and I couldn’t choose the day or time even…) I do like their bags, but I don’t like the shop itself. The way they treat a regular customer is poor and disappointing but I have the same opinion about Chanel too
I relate to your thought process in so many aspects! I too decided early on that I wasn’t going to start playing the Hermès game and if I manage to get a quota bag, great. But if it wasn’t going to end up happening, also fine.
I feel like that’s a very healthy approach and mindset to have when it comes to luxury handbags.
Well, earlier this year, I did get offered a Birkin in etoupe from my local boutique with very little purchase history :) I had been on the waiting list for almost 3 years. I had almost forgotten I had submitted a wish with my local boutique😅 And while I am happy with my Birkin, at the end of the day, it’s just a bag... I didn’t anticipate how much of me wanting to own a Birkin was due to the insane hype around their bags🙈
Love your content Sophie! I just want to clear up the myths around Hermes. The “Hermes game” is definitely overplayed and I think we can blame some luxury TH-camrs for that.
Hermes is popular and there’s an incredibly high demand for items that are handcrafted and take a while to make. It would be great if anyone could walk in and get a birkin or Kelly on the spot the sad truth is that in some places like the UK, US or some countries in Asia the stock just isn’t there.
There are plenty people who have walked off the street and gotten a quota bag with no purchase history. It’s just a matter of luck, not how much money you spend.
You will have a much better chance at getting the Constance in France since they usually have a lot more stock than the rest of the world.
Think of it like the Porsche GT3, chances are a lot of people can’t just walk into the dealership and buy one on the spot. It’s all supply and demand.

I think we’ve all had that experience not just in Hermes but in most luxury boutiques. I’ve learned that once I find an SA I really like I’ll ask for that SA or inquire as to when they’re scheduled to work to avoid a not so pleasing shopping experience 😅

Hi Sophie, i went into hermes in harrods last week and they said there is no more wish list for constance since the beginning of this year, its just you come you ask for an availability and if they have one you can just buy it, depending if you like it or not of course. Confirmed by hermes SAs upstairs and downstairs. Xx

Hi Sophie ❤ love the background. I'm totally with you about the Constance. Great bag. The H is rather too much for me but quite possibly their best bag IMHO. I ended up getting both available sizes of the Coach Bandit. The C is prominent but not too big.

I’ve been eyeing the Coach Bandit for a while now, but I’ll wait just a little bit longer. A TH-camr I’m following is a product manager at Coach and in one of her videos, she was test wearing a new model.🤩 Of course she didn’t show the bag in the fullest, but from what I saw, it looked very promising. 😊
Every now and then i see your videos pop up in my feed and they're always a joy to watch. I usually dont care for designer/luxury stuff, I don't care about fashion a whole lot, but the way you talk about these luxury items gives me the impression that, even though you own a lot, it's not something you feel entitled to or something you think is necessary. It feels like you genuinely love and appreciate every piece in your collection, and like you are aware of how much of a privilege it is owning all of them. They spark joy in you, and they always revive that little part of me that, even as a little goth gremlin with little money and little need for luxury items in my wardrobe, still dreams to be able to own a Chanel classic flap one day. There's just something appealing about having this one piece lasting me for the rest of my life
There are bags I particularly like that are not the Birkin or the Kelly. I also love some of their perfumes. It’s just a brand. We need to relax and if it suits your aesthetic so be it. If not so be it :) I too love the Constance. That is my favorite as well ❤
Based on Cassie Thorpe experience, I’m kinda convinced that how competitive the location and the size/color way seems to make the biggest difference. All of her bags are very unique but not really sought after colors. I mean getting along with the SA and some purchase history probably helps. But hers isn’t insanely high. I also thinks Europe works slightly different in terms of prespend.
I’m still building my Fendi collection up. But I think if I want a birkin when I’m financially comfortable getting one, I’ll try my luck in Paris or Vegas. I want the 35 or 40 size, which are way less popular.
Then again, I have a fendi SA who would probably let me buy anything in the store if I had the money, which I appreciate.
I experienced a similar situation with Tiffany about 30 years ago. I went in to Tiffany in London to buy a diamond cross necklace. A frosty sales rep told me apparently they did not have any and requested that I leave my details in their book which I did. The sales rep told me that they would be in contact when they received stock. I never heard from them. Fast forward a couple of years later and my auntie who lived in Munich told me the Tiffany store there they had them. She was allowed to put a deposit on my chosen cross and I flew over and bought it. The staff in Tiffany Munich were so helpful, shame I didn't receive the same customer service from the store in London.

I've recently developed a love for Dior bags especially the Lady Dior bag. I'm not a fan of Hermes bags...they look boring. The constance is cute, but for the price....I rather get other bags. Also because 95% of the time when I walk into Hermes, I get no customer service or an SA who wants to leave work after helping me. Maybe it depends on the location, but I've been to a couple Hermes boutiques (in different states in my country) and it's all the same. I would see anywhere from 3-5 SAs standing around texting or chatting with each other. No greetings, barely any eye contact, and if there's eye contact it's usually a glance and then off to help others. The ones I've been to seems to target Mandarin speaking clients especially those who come in with a bf or husband. It all feels very discriminatory and I will never play that game. If I spend a good amount of money on things I love, I better get good customer service. I got excellent customer service at Dior, LV, and Fendi. Chanel is starting to feel like Hermes....they are starting their own game. I've kind of moved on from them too.

I agree the Constance is a stunning bag. Though I have a few pieces of jewelry and scarves from Hermes, I have no desire to play Hermes games.
I don't have a wishlist at Hermès, I only ever bought small things, twillies, make-up (worth the hype!) and perfume. SAs were always sooo nice to me. Think of the wishlist item(s) as kind of a lottery. Two years sound about right. A friend of a friend tried for a Kelly two years ago. So far still no luck but the SA told her it'll take about two years, so maybe any day soon.

Completelyyyy share your sentiments about playing 'the game'. It's ridiculous that a brand create this false, elitist supply and demand and we all just fall in line. I really hope you get your Constance but love your principles!
When I first got into luxury I got a pre-loved Evelyne GM from a reputable reseller for $2,200. I went into the boutique and asked for a bag charm for it (at the time I had no idea about the game, and how hard it was to get said charm). The SA was very snobby but did "offer" me the charm. It was around $500+. I declined because I didn't like the color--I was ignorant enough to ask if he had other colors, lol. I've sometimes regretted not taking the "offer," but at the end of the day, $500 plus tax is a lot of money when you don't like the color and it doesn't compliment the bag you wanted it for....this was about 7 years ago.

I think this is why consignment stores are packed with small 'bits and bobs' of Hermes. 😂 People with money playing the game just buy and then sell it all off so they can build their profile to get what they really want..

Although Hermes is not really my jam either, I kinda liked the TPM Evelyn. I literally just called my local boutique to see if they had one and they did I said can you hold while I go I now to pick it up and they said yeah. An hour later it was mine. Grant it it wasn’t a birkin but either way I would not play the buying game to get it.

Not sure if you'll see this but for Hermes, the wish list expires after 2 weeks and you'll need to go in and renew it. I assume the SA will let you know this when you go back in to amend it. 🥰😃
This is only for certain stores (I think it might be for stores that don't get too much stock), but in other places the wishlist will last for years

Let's face it. The Birkin is really old lady vibes and most people only want it because of the hoopla you have to go through to get it and be a lucky person to get it. The Constance is actually a beautiful bag and much more of a cooler vibe. I would never play the game. I mean really? For a bag?

just my opinion, whether you're spending 2.00, 200.00 or 2K in a store, poor customer service and "games" are a huge turn off for me. I've walked out of stores buying nothing for that very reason.
I think tou would have a better chance by asking for rhe larger . All the smaller sizes are really difficult to get.
