I got both the original figures back in the day. Always liked these better to other alternative versions of both He-Man and Skeletor (Battle Armor, Power Punch, etc.). Terror Claws Skeletor is, to date, my favorite Skeletor figure EVER. I must agree with Dan that lack of vac-metal finish on Flying Fists He-Man is a bit disappointing.
Personally I love these variants. Maybe that's because these were the ones I played with most and brought on all the road trips. Also, the terror claws are just so badass!
I'd probably pose He-man with the sword and shield personally. The shield does look kind of cool in some ways, but the bolo weapon looks all kinds of awkward. With Skeletor, however, I would pose him with his equivalent of the bolo weapon since the Terror Claws wouldn't look very good in any poses that show their underside, plus the dragon does have a pretty charming sculpt.
Excellent video, as always! Thank you! This was a neat set, but I think it needed some work. I swapped the head, armour, & accessories onto a paler Skeletor figure and painted the inside of the Snapdragon's mouth. As for the He-Man, I'm trying to figure out which combination of chrome foil stickers and Molotow Liquid Chrome paint would work best to replicate his shiny vintage look.
Should the fin arms (wrist area) be painted to match the boots? I'm not a collector of these figures but I maybe thinking of getting specific figures to add to my collection... Thanks in advance for the response.
I get that the armor, because of it's malleability, would flake if vac-metalized. But why not vac metal the weapons? The dirpy eyes, and the lack of paint decko in some places makes it seem like the line is getting lazy since Scott left.
No excuse for Mattel to not use the same color paint from the armor on the weapons. This is a repaint of a 6+ year old figure that has been reused many times. I think they made their money on this mold by now. Give us the damn weapons in the right colors!
I never noticed that MOTUC Skeletor has a unique belt. I guess that must be to simulate the "segmented loin cloth" piece that came with the original Skeletor? I wonder why they didn't switch it out for this release, since the original Terror Claws version didn't have that loin cloth piece?
One more time, an excellent review. And one more time, thanks!. I like all Skeletor and He-Man variants but I think these are the last on my preferences.
IMO, Mattel should have just put the Flying Fist's accessories in an accessory pack. That way, fans could just buy that, and use them with their other He-Man figure. This would have reduced the price, and help sell more units.
I must say, I agree on every point you make. Flying Fists He-Man was my favorite too, for the same reasons. This one just looks too bulky. I think it would have been better if they just made a new "armored" torso and vac metalized it so you could still have the ab crunch and not have such a bulky look. When you're on a tight budget, and have to pick and choose which ones you really want, things like this can cause the loss of a sale.
I hate the fact that vac-metallization doesn't get used anymore in toys. It's the same thing for Star Wars now, how can you NOT do that with 3PO and the new Captain Phasma? Companies are getting really lazy
Dude, I can really see you doing this. I've seen reviews from others that...suck. You have the best video reviews of MOTU/MOTUC/POP online. Mattel loves you. They already know you. I'm guessing they'd love the idea. The discs (or whatever format) would need to be searchable from page 1. Discs are so cheap now. I have faith that you have the Power, and many trusted folks would love to contribute.
Very happy to see Skele's red, *non-removable* dragon/hungry-hungry hippo holder! I'd lost both vintage figure's red clip attachments and scoured for hours on more than one occasion to find them. BUT the vintage red weapon holders are different. He-Man's won't click correctly on Skeletor, and vice versa. I'm hoping someone with a 3D printer can help me out (same with several bits and pieces that are easy to lose, like GI Joe Cobra "Rattler" with insane payloads (tons of missiles- just packed full of them). I also remember that with the vintage, the more you used their action, something inside must slip, as w/both figures you have to constantly reset/calibrate their arms for every 5-8 swings their arms did. Having fun kicking your buddy's tail, then "dude, hold on! I have to reset his arms again!" (Was that just me, cuz it happened on both figures (mostly He-Man, but Skeletor too). -Sincere "Thank You!" Again for what you do. I've had a couple of folks that follow me that also really want you to collect and redo (that's the pain) a full set of your MOTUC Reviews on disc (I like disc) to have all of your reviews ready to be pulled off our shelves and use as the MOTU Reviews "Omnipedia" (coined it!). You could start with the MOTUC, but in an on-disc(s) Omnipedia, go back and give the Vintage, the lame Space misfire, and the 2000x line. I know it would take a lot of re-shoots, brand new shoots, but it hasn't been done before; a comprehensive guide to all the figures, beasts and machines from all MOTU incarnations. Sell them as "era relevant" separate discs, or cram it all into one. I'd do my best and know others would too, to help make this the penultimate MOTU/POP resource.
This isn’t a bad Classics set and fairly cost effective. But (has it been confirmed?) that the coming soon “Origins” Flying-Fists/Terror-Claws will 99% likely have zero action feature. The CGI cartoon toys that cost $10-15 have twist waist action features and cost less! Huh?
GEEZE, why is the bolo weapon's handle so freakin' BIG?! How does design not notice when a handle is way, WAY bigger than any other weapon handle? If He-Man holds that for a bit his hand is crazy stretched out! I'll have to crush it back in any time I want him to hold the sword - my god man, how is this so hard for them after ALL this time? Can't you just keep doing what you've already been doing? *ahem* Beyond that and Skeletor's disgusting face paint, I'm actually looking forward to these! I never had them when I was a kid, so it looks like everything I liked from pictures is back for me to finally enjoy for the first time. The design team is...still making odd choices, but not odd enough to throw me off, yet!
It's two-bad they didn't vac-metal him- I heard raccoons were breaking into houses when they saw the shiny object. Maybe myth. They also used the "rotted-mustard" color for his hair. Anyone know if Testers Brand model paint makes a shinier/chrome paint? (*always* use plain vanilla masking tape to tape off all spots, ridges, gaps, decoration- blue painter tape could be too strong and pull your modified paint off. Purple drywall tape may work well too as it's low-tack. When dried, always remove paint *slowly* and at a *45 degree angle* (that's a rule for all painting). Overall I think he looks great, and Walmart.com have (or had by now) the Flying Fists He-Man & Terror Claws Skeletor Classics 2 pack for $33, so I can't complain!
I'm with ya Dan on the lack of shine on this He-Man. I hate to say, but I'm gonna pass on this set. Not worth the $. I am however going to put it towards Mr. Snake Mountain,...and the Thundercats line!!!!!

On this occasion the vintage win out , because of the cool action features and the armour for sure

I'm glad flying fists he-man isnt vac metalized... Love it like that
Not really missing the vac metal but I love this set

Randomly found this set at game stop today

This set plus Perfuma is the reason for the $98 this month. Yes I pisses me off when people put the dollar sign after the number.

Thanks Dan, Great Review. I can't wait to get them.

love ur honesty!,awesome review as always :) hey are you going to review the animated batmobile ? if not...please do lol.

Not sure why but I dig the power sword being in that color plastic, usually I hate that color silver. Outside of that, this one's a pass for me.
There is a pen you can pick up that mimics the vac metal style if anyone cares to mod it.
At 11:09 the first He-Man on the left which head is that from? From the old original?
great review as always !

Are you going to be doing reviews for the new TMNT wave?
I found the original Skeletor terror claws figure at a goodwill store today for like 11 USD =)
why didn't they use the new heman head sculpt.
Good review.. You know your stuff!
You'll never beat the original 80s versions of he men
A must have!

I'll be baaack....!!!
Very nice figures but whats up with He Man's sad face?

My favourite too !!!
Great review!
I need your help.
Does the MOTU Classics Terror Claws weapon fit on a vintage Skeletor action figure?
dude you could do some extra customizing switching the body parts too ..man thousands of possibilities there!!nice work

checking again in March going on April 2022 :)
Origins FF is rocking so much with the shiny armour & waist twist /flying arm action feature!

The lack of the vac-metal on he- man is a deal breaker for me I'll pass. That and the fact I have most of his variants in this line.
GREAT!!
How mutch are they worth
The lack of vacmetal is a deal breaker for me, too ! I will pass on this one !
they used vac metal for HOrdak but not for this iconic figure...inexcusable!!!!
Better was the original Flying Fist Heman, 'cause the original armor shinning.
It's two-bad they didn't vac-metal him- I heard raccoons were breaking into houses when they saw the shiny object. Maybe myth. They also used the "rotted-mustard" color for his hair. They rush the last few figures, poor Perfuma.
Poor mankind of the year 2016, not able to make a chrome plating anymore...
Where are we going to...
Why they screwed up this bad such an awesome figures ?!?!?!
Vac-metal armors only for the bad guy.
could not agree more about the non-shiney armor and weapons...HUGE disappointment when I opened it. :(
I'm with ya Dan on the lack of shine on this He-Man. I hate to say, but I'm gonna pass on this set. Not worth the $. I am however going to put it towards Mr. Snake Mountain,...and the Thundercats line!!!!!
Sigh. This pair was all about the action feature, and without it, it loses any purpose.
Especially when the box says it has swinging action....if it didn't say so then no big deal just my opinion
This vintage style He-Man head is too small for Classics body, it's realy sucks.
