    Thank you for sharing this, I found this kind of video for a long time, but seldom people do this test, I think it’s a little boring haha. However, it really helps me choose what I can use on pinions after watching the video. Now I’m using 14T.

    i finally subscribed cause it has been over a year i follow your videos about the MX01, and i have to say, better (impossible). The way you show, explain and talk about it is simply the best way, clear, informative and science behind. I also love these chassis, i finally started to like "mini" scale because of these MX01, amazingly build and awesome performance (for the size) out of the box. Thank you very much for your nice videos!!! Just tell me "sind wir Nachbarn?" Best wishes from Luxemburg.😉

    Looking forward to seeing more modifications! The screw to hold on the wheel was the first modification I tackled by using a stud or threaded m2x8mm set screw off ebay. Then you could use a hex nut to secure the wheel. This way, less west and tear from continuous removal and installation of the wheel. By the way, my 4Runner came with the 10T pinion stock.

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good Idea - did already think of using a long grub screw and a hex nut. I will cite you if I should do it and show it on video ;)
      Did have to use one yesterday when re-assembling the Mini-Z, because I lost one of the 4 which are used for mounting the links to the axles.
      Seems Toyota comes with 10t pinion stock, and Suzuki with 12t. People here (forums) also told this - and I guess Tanks and Trucks 24/7 also told it in his video.

    Very good video. And the good thing, it applies on all scales.

    This is my first RC, I just changed the pinion to the biggest one from the box and switch rotate the spacer from 6 to 1 or 1 to 6? Forgot.
    I like it a lot, but still wanted to be faster, perhaps the one I needed was the touring one. Thanks a lot for the video, Kyosho really should create a tutorial like this too.

      You need a racer, not a crawler ;)

    Very informative video. You've answered a few questions I've been wondering about and that's how fast it can go on 20T and how well it crawls with it. It still seems pretty capable. Through your videos, I can enjoy the rig vicariously since I still can't justify myself buying one yet and I don't think there's stock in my LHS. My SCX24 crawls well but too slowly sometimes because I like to trail with it and it can't keep up with my walking speed. I think the Mini Z 4x4 can and the way it's built with the ease of access to the motor, it's like it's asking you to tinker with it.
    I also use Soshine batteries! On my Mini Z FWD and Buggy, I run their LiFe 10440 batteries (2 cells +2 dummies.) It adds a ton of speed with no damage to the board.

      a guy on FB changed ESC/Motor... i think it's the fastest MX01 I've seen till now... walking this time you would not keep the pace (but well mods have to be done and in my opinion the MX01 loose identity 😉 (but it's possible) On the other side they don't look like been made for speed ... (obviously) this is a "very small" scale (i call them home crawlers) cause outdoor some speed is always needed, mostly if trailing. (speed wise electronics mine are all stock, i like them like this, they do the job). Have fun

      @@alexandrevieiradasilva3281 My latest setup is putting on mini4wd wild wheels and tires on my SCX24. The slightly smaller diameter gives more totque and the wide tread provides twice as much grip. With a wider stance, it is much more stable. To increase speed (a little slower than a moderate walking pace), I slip over each tire with a 1/10 rally block one. These tires also increase the ground clearance allowing it to climb small steps and curbs. Maybe this mod can be applied to kyosho 4x4 as well.

    FYI, the 4Runner has the 10T mounted as standard, and because I buy it to crawl, I let it on.
    Keep doing very explanative and enjoying videos about this costly crawler, but so powerful for his size !

      Try to make an outdoor running video ... actually we are a kind of locked in and on our nice places outdoors here there are so many people keeping "Corona distance", that it is difficult to find a place where nobody os observing you. Don't like to be watched when playing with toy cars ;-)

    Does the 10 mm longer wheel base really make that big of a difference (I have teh toyota)? Also mine seems to slip (clutch??) a lot now, any idea what I need to fix? Thanks!

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not have the Toyota, but 10 mm can of course make a difference. Furthermore, the Toyota seems to be much higher, higher center of gravity (? - I do not know, but to me this seems to be the fact).
      Therefore ground clearance seems to be better in the Toyota.
      It is a very expensive car (240 € here in my country, that is about 280 US$), so I did not buy the Toyota yet and cannot make any comparisons.
      Open the gearbox and tighten the screw of the slipper clutch.

    Thank you for your videos! Really great.
    I have a question.. not sure if it’s an issue. Just purchased my first miniZ Suzuki.
    When at really low speeds. It pulsates / stutters? It’s not very consistent/ smooth when going super slow. But when I pick up speed it’s okay. Yours seems like it’s not doing it. (Mines Running stock)

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you!
      Maybe it is the motor? It is hard to say for me, because I changed the motor when the car was new and do not really know how it would do with stock motor.
      Could also be drivetrain. Remove the motor (easy) and turn the driveshafts by hand. Could be there is some resistance, which does only cause problems when running very slow.

    • @joelbastian5741
      @joelbastian5741 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@donaldsneffe thank you very much!! I actually ended up using it more and it has gotten significantly better. Maybe it just needed to be used more. I was also thinking the drive shafts. Some stiff area maybe.

    Could you do a comparison of this and the Toyota 4Runner version

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, I do not have the 4Runner - and because those Mini-Z are not that cheap (250 € here), I will probably not buy it.
      Would be interesting.
      I guess, the Suzuki is the better crawler because its longer wheelbase (1 cm) and the lower center of gravity.
      But the Toyota seems to have larger tires, so probably better ground clearance.

    10t would be great if the motor actually had any power whatsoever, but there's not enough wheel speed even with 12 tooth let alone 10. if your slowly crawling & hit a rock all the motor stalls out for lack of power that's a joke, Kyosho should be embarrassed for the lack of torque & power in these things!! not to mention they make the entire truck proprietary so it's nearly impossible to upgrade anything on it & kyosho themselves don't even make an upgraded motor!! all around a disappointment in my opinion!!

    • @donaldsneffe
      @donaldsneffe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I changed the motor against a Basher Torque motor. Motor change is not a big problem, there are many 130 motors out that will fit perfectly.
