To break such teams down, you need to play one-touch football. We hang on to the ball way too much. Way too many touches which slows the game down and makes it easier for teams to stay compact. Playing this way, it doesn't matter which striker we sign, we ain't going to score. I'd rather we sign a winger that could take players on than a striker, going by how we play, especially when our fullbacks don't like to bomb forward.
Spot on brother! It's all about letting opposite team get into our half, steal the ball from them and then quickly counter attack with 2-3 passes. The problem is we defend in 9-10 man so there is no one waiting for that counter... I understand this low block of Arteta's defence when we play against top top teams, but Ipswich...

The question of "who" re strikers/forwards is a lazy one in my opinion. The same way Gyokeres and Isak, even Nico Williams, Guler, Yamal etc. Were discovered, others can be discovered. Arsenal has history with this too, examples being Saliba and Gabriel (diff positions but most people didn't know much about them when they joined the club and now they're killers). That's why clubs have scouts. To discover talent. Isak, Kane, Osimhen and Gyokeres are clearly not the only good strikers in the game. Gyokeres was literally playing for Coventry only a few seasons ago. You only have to look at clubs like Brighton to prove this point. There's players out there, you just have to do the work to find and scout them.
Teams like Brighton don't challenge for trophies and there lies the difference. Top teams like Pool/Arsenal/United etc can't rely on finding new talent to get unless the other attackers are WC

We need Wirtz, Isak and Kudus and then part ways with Jesus, Trossard and Sterling by summer. The quality of Wirtz speaks for itself. He would be a leftsided Saka both in terms of profile and quality, and could be played at the 10 instead of Ødegaard aswell. Or in a 10 with Ødegaard as 8 and then Rice at the 6. Many opportunities with that one expensive signing alone. Kudus as real competition for Saka and Isak as the leathel 9. It would be over £300 million in fees alone but if the owners and directors of Arsenal want to live up to their word of this club winning major honors then do it right. As much as we want a killer up front, the fact that we can't rely on Martinelli and Jesus as well as the injury on Saka means we need to assess those positions.

Honestly, I’m a bit over the criticism from Turkish -we managed the game well, and there’s nothing wrong with a 1-0 win. That’s our seventh clean sheet this season, which is seriously impressive. Great to see Havertz on the scoresheet again; the guy was everywhere today. Odegaard was poor again, apart from 10 minute period, but Timber and MLS really showed some great moments hard to drop moving forward. That said, I think we need to invest in another winger or two-I’m not entirely sold on a striker in Arteta’s system. I’d go all out for a Premier League-proven player like Cunha, Mbeumo, Semenyo, or even Gordon.

We need to learn that slow, laborious, lethargic passing will not break down a team that is playing a low block and have no intention of playing in any other way. Chelsea have Jackson, Felix, Nkunku, Palmer, Madueke and Neto yet are still in the market for another striker. Haaland would be good in our team, there's clearly other issues that city are going through. We should be looking at getting someone like Olmo in addition to a striker but that doesn't mean we don't need a striker.

Turkish makes a great point about the ‘cogs’ that make up our team, it’s not just players but systems and patterns of play, that are so rigid, once the opps work out how to stop the important cogs, they got us! I worry arteta is too rigid and safe with the instructions, that even a new signing would eventually play the same way, sideways and backwards.
Whats a new striker going to do when we don't play through the middle? Jesus didnt see the ball until he ran into midfield, the one time he got the ball after making a run, he actually put it in the back of net but he was offside. We need an attacking midfielder and a winger that play directly and we need Arteta to allow the team to play direct rather then playing boring around the side continuously. We can loose the ball for a short while if were able to win it back so well.

We had a decent December and we’ve hung in there… now to up the gear in January and see how things look at the end on Jan and hope Liverpool stumble… at the end of January we’ll get a proper sense of whether we’ll take home silverware this season.
The actual points tally should be 41 for LiVARpool and 39 for us, as we got cheated in that game against LiVARpool due to corrupted refs don't forget this please, because it's all part of the context of winning the PL. Also the cheating the refs did us dirty against City and Brighton sending our players off for dubious decisions over kicking the ball away. Which no other teams have been done for throughout the season so far. Which also affected our 4 games overall due to suspensions for no real reason. Good to see our defence has settled back into their usual selves. We were conceding stupidly at the start of the season. Those issues are fixed. We got the attack flowing then saka got injured and now we have to find other solutions. Martinelli isnt it
18 Games played, 6 D & 2 L, 16 goals conceded (best in league), 35 goals scored (4th best in league), we are not closer to liverpool at 1st because we cant turn draw into win, we lost only 2 games all season and 1 of them is 10 vs 11 (bournemouth) that is still the 2nd best in league, we are still the best defensive team in league but our attack is in dire need of a reinforcement, 6 draw, if we just won against fulham, everton that should be extra 4 points at least, also brighton and city (i know it was a red) but if we just more clinical and were 2 goals up instead of 1 goal we should have won that game... Please sign a quality attacker to boost our offense!
Side way passing when we need to plat the ball quicker in the forward we create our own problems breaking low block teams you need to be quicker and catching them on counters but the side passing and slow playing will find it hard to break liw block teams

Problem is not always that we don't have a striker that finishes. not like kai and Gabby constantly missing chances. Biggest problem is chance creation. Other than Saka, our wide players have been poor. We do need a ST. But we definitely need a upgraded wide player.

Or in a 10 with Ødegaard as 8 and then Rice at the 6. Many opportunities with that one expensive signing alone. Kudus as real competition for Saka and Isak as the leathel 9.
It would be over £300 million in fees alone but if the owners and directors of Arsenal want to live up to their word of this club winning major honors then do it right. Honestly, I’m a bit over the criticism from Turkish -we managed the game well, and there’s nothing wrong with a 1-0 win. That’s our seventh clean sheet this season, which is seriously impressive. Great to see Havertz on the scoresheet again; the guy was everywhere today. Odegaard was poor again, apart from 10 minute period, but Timber and MLS really showed some great moments hard to drop moving forward.
That said, I think we need to invest in another winger or two-I’m not entirely sold on a striker in Arteta’s system. I’d go all out for a Premier League-proven player like Cunha, Mbeumo, Semenyo, or even Gordon.

Turkish makes a great point about the ‘cogs’ that make up our team, it’s not just players but systems and patterns of play, that are so rigid, once the opps work out how to stop the important cogs, they got us! I worry arteta is too rigid and safe with the instructions, that even a new signing would eventually play the same way, sideways and backwards.
Whats a new striker going to do when we don't play through the middle? Jesus didnt see the ball until he ran into midfield, the one time he got the ball after making a run, he actually put it in the back of net but he was offside. We need an attacking midfielder and a winger that play directly and we need Arteta to allow the team to play direct rather then playing boring around the side continuously. We can loose the ball for a short while if were able to win it back so well.

18 Games played, 6 D & 2 L, 16 goals conceded (best in league), 35 goals scored (4th best in league), we are not closer to liverpool at 1st because we cant turn draw into win, we lost only 2 games all season and 1 of them is 10 vs 11 (bournemouth) that is still the 2nd best in league, we are still the best defensive team in league but our attack is in dire need of a reinforcement, 6 draw, if we just won against fulham, everton that should be extra 4 points at least, also brighton and city (i know it was a red) but if we just more clinical and were 2 goals up instead of 1 goal we should have won that game... Please sign a quality attacker to boost our offense!
Side way passing when we need to plat the ball quicker in the forward we create our own problems breaking low block teams you need to be quicker and catching them on counters but the side passing and slow playing will find it hard to break liw block teams
We need a player like Alexis someone who can score out of nothing..
