Riley skates. A lot. Seriously. Here's raw footage, alternate angles, and new clips from the incredible amount of skating he's done the past couple of years.
i meet him when he was like 7.. its cool to see him grown up being epic and living up to the name.. very few kids do that.. props man.. and DAMN can he take some falls.. ouch.
man.. if i had friends like this.. who give props after landing and recording it and having fun, id make it skating when i was younger. I go stuck with try hards who only cared about them selfs.. no wonder i quite years ago.. its all about who you skate with.
No, you quit because you weren't meant to be a skateboarder. Some guys grow up with no one to skate with at all and they stay true to it and keep doing it for the pure love of landing something and smiling to themselves because nobody saw it. Skateboarding unlike other sports is completely about yourself. Giving your homies props is just another added bonus.
Kevin Cordell But there are a lot of personalities out there and that certainly applies to how you progress in skateboarding. Some skaters can easily motivate themselves, others rely on a mixture of self motivation + friends. The latter is more socially oriented and fuck man... good vibes around you goes a long way when you can't do that for yourself.
I disagree with you kevin.. fully.. The only people i ever see making it have people pushing them.. no one ever makes it skating by your self. you get bored and give up. im meant to do anything i fucking want.. faith is not real kid..
I went to that spot at 14:11 today and I have no idea how he managed to do that. That spot is steep and rough. Just really hard to skate. Riley is on a whole other level.
As already incredible as his skating is, I can't help feeling he's holding back to avoid embarrassing everyone. A lot of this stuff seems like he's doing some trick first try and nobody who was with him knew what he was planning to do.
No way he's doing most of this first try. Pretty much any pro, am, and even most people who are just simply getting flowed can make a trick look like it was first try any time they land it, but nah, I guarantee he battled for most of those makes. It's never that easy, even for the best.
Naw, it just isn't that easy. I see where you're coming from for sure but even dudes like Cory Kennedy or Brandon Westgate who have the smoothest styles can spend multiple days trying to get 1 trick. And there are some parts in this video where you can tell he's relieved he landed whatever he was trying.
I'd be happy to offer some tips or pointers to anyone in the skating film industry some constructive criticism if wanted/needed. I've done enough amateur film projects and been taught by and/or worked with enough cinematographers to warrant such criticism. There truly is no excuse. I am sick of the current standard of skateboarding cinematography and editing.
this is aside the point but riley has the coolest rock n roll shirts.
i live life
rock and metal*
I just imagine Tony being like
"Where was your helmet?"
i meet him when he was like 7.. its cool to see him grown up being epic and living up to the name.. very few kids do that.. props man.. and DAMN can he take some falls.. ouch.
Ridley Scott is to direct a movie of all of Riley's slams. It will be called White Hawk Down.

Yeah I know tricks normally take a real battle but it just seems like he's probably got it like that if he wants it.
Naw, it just isn't that easy. I see where you're coming from for sure but even dudes like Cory Kennedy or Brandon Westgate who have the smoothest styles can spend multiple days trying to get 1 trick.
