    A jolly piece very much of it's time. Made in England, reproduced in Prussia. Interesting.

    In the US, this would be labeled ragtime . . . but irrespective of the name, it's a fine, jolly piece, suitable as one segment of a quadrille.

    A rather lugubrious performance from the basses. I wonder if Williams realised they were in danger of running out of time, and suddenly brightened the tempo when they reached the Ab section (3rd theme)?
    Also interesting to hear the woodblock being used I the A strain.
    Interesting to compare with Pryor's recording of it.

      Yes, a bit ponderous, I actually sped it up past 78rpm and it's still not really fast enough in the first half...
