always loved the RAT. I love the fact that it has tight bass, all the way up to midday. then it turns into a fuzz pedal for the second half of the dial. there's no midrange hump... works well with Vox amps & Marshalls, amps with plenty of mids. and having unity Volume at 3 o'clock means its the perfect "low volume" pedal. great for the home studio. the Filter control is sooooo useful. I dont gig with a RAT, I have other pedals for pushing an amp at band volume... but the RAT has its place at home / in the studio.

Absolutely. It’s one of those pedals every studio needs some version of in house.

My big problem after buying this pedal is it has more that one "sweet spot" so I almost need 2 of them.

Recommend leaving it at lower gain and putting a boost before it. Doesn’t have to be clever, I use a Joyo Tornado before it, which has a simple clean boost circuit. (It also has an overdrive on a separate switch, so i can get several different sounds between the 2 of them)

I find it a one trick pony. I use it as a boost with drive all the way down. Tone and vol all the way up. Any other setting does not work for me personally.

That doesn’t quite make sense - the Cut all the way up means the tone all the way down. If that is the only way it works for you perhaps it’s time to look at your amp EQ settings. If you find it a one trick pony it’s time to try harder, it can do plenty.
