2010 Mazda CX-7 DIY Key Fob Programming

- In this video i will be talking about how to program a key fob for most Mazda cars specifically the 2010 cx-7. you wont need any scan tools for this to work its a pretty simple job. you first open the door, then cycle the key on and off 3 times, then you will open and close the door 3 times with it left open at the end. you will see the locks cycle you are then in programming mode. from there all you need to do is hit the unlock button on each remote twice let it cycle then do the next key. Maximum of 3 keys can be programmed at a time.

I have 3 Keys now! The Fob was reasonably priced on amazon too! Can't believe how much the dealership wanted when I could just do this all along :)

Hi, mate. I have a 2007 Mazda CX-7 with two smart keys that stopped working simultaneously. I'm trying to program them with your instructions, but nothing happens. I can still start the car with the physical key. Is there a way to program the smart keys?
So if you have the flip key like in the video, this should work when following it do you see the locks cycle? If you actually have a keyless entry you will have to have a scan tool capable of programming it. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Will this procedure add a key with a new transponder chip? I wonder if there needs to be a pre-programmed transponder chip in the computer to be used with the new remote to start the car.
No this is only to program the key fob. To program a new key you’ll need a scan tool that can do it. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

The key connected to the fob for my car will start the car but the actual buttons to unlock/lock the car don't work. If I program this, will my car still start?
Yes. What’s programmed in your key is called a transponder. Your key fob is a completely separate thing, this means it will not effect your keys functionality. So go for it! Thanks for watching!
I have a 2008 Mazda cx7. I followed your instructions. The buttons work great but I cannot start the car with new key fob. Do you have any idea of why I cannot start the car with new key fob?
I don’t believe that year came with remote start from factory. So even if you get a fob that has that button it won’t work on a car not equipped with it. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Not remote start. I bought a new key that is similar to the original key and I followed your instructions. The buttons work to lock and unlock the car. When I put the key in the ignition the key indicator blinks and the car does not start.

In my 2007, it goes through the lock cycle/programming mode, but I only have 1 key. And the key that I have isn’t programmed to the car, it will start it, but not unlock/lock.
So following this procedure it only will program the key fob (buttons). It won’t program the actual key. So, few questions first it a Mazda CX-7? Are you sure the battery inside is still working? And did you follow all the steps I gave?

Ok is it broke off in the cylinder? If so you will need to get a lock smith. If not take some pliers turn it to the off position and that should release the retaining detent. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
I've done it but on the second cycle keys do you put it in and repeat the procedure or you just push on lock on a second key
So, once in programming mode you will hit unlock and then unlock again on your first one. then hit unlock and unlock again on your second remote and if you have a third do it once more. You must do all of them together at one time or it won’t save them all. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Yes I primarily use Autel and you’ll be able to do it with that (as long as it’s one that has the feature I believe the 150$ don’t.). Hope this helps.

Will this also programme the transponder in the key to the ignition?
No I’m sorry, it will not program your transponder. This is for the fob programming only. You’ll need a scan tool that can program keys for this. Or take it to a locksmith or mechanic. (I used xtool x100 pad2) hope this helps! Have a good day!
for me i had to cycle the key 4 times and it cycles the locks and it honks 2 times but the key wont program whatsoever
Do you have the correct fob for the car? Also did you check to make sure the batteries are working in the fob? Sometimes they send fobs out without batteries. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Hello. Please help. My mazda cx9 2008 has a keyless. 2 cards that work once and fail. Then I have to put the metal key in the ignition. Then the engine always starts. If you manage to start the engine without the key, the "key" light flashes red on the board. Smart key opens and closes the car. The only problem is sometimes I turn the ignition switch and the second time I do not and I have to take the key, the tip. The buttons on the door handle also do not work. Sometimes I press the button multiple times and manage to open the door. I have the impression that the cards are not always seen by the keyless module. What could be the problem? Forscan shows an error. Code: B1600 - PATS ignition key transponder signal is not received.
- Possible causes -
- Defective ignition key
- PATS antenna or cables damaged
- Damage to the PCM

Ya I’m not a fan of those keyless cards. In theory they are great. You could just carry them in your wallet and be good. But, it usually fails. So, first question would be did both go bad at the same time or at separate times? If it happened at separate times I’m more likely to believe it’s the smart key itself and not the pats system. But if they both just stopped working out of no where then I would be more inclined to search the pats system. Also something to try is replace the batteries in them (if you haven’t done it in a while). Normally I don’t suggest throwing money at something but picking up a pack of batteries just to test isn’t to bad of an idea. Anyways I wish you the best of luck! Also thanks for watching!

How to get the mazda out of program mode. It worked before now it wont program any keys.
So, if you programmed three remotes it will automatically pull you out of programming mode. If you just did two all you would have to do is close your door and open back up. Also make sure the new remotes you have internals in them and good batteries. Many places just sell the shell. Let me know if this helps!

Can you start the car with the key fob?
No ma’am the fob I show only has the lock, unlock and panic buttons.
The red button ? Whats the use?
It’s known as a panic button. If you hit it the car alarm starts going off.
My 2012 mazda 6 is not going in programming mode after completing the door step. Can you please help?
No worries it’s because it’s a Mazda 6. So follow these instructions.
Close all doors,
then open the drivers door,
Then stick your key in the ignition turn it from off to on 3 times (do not start the car),
Close and open the door 3 times (when you re-open the door the last time it will cycle the locks) at that point hit unlock twice on the key fobs it’ll cycle again do that for every key.
Also, just to make sure your key isn’t the keyless entry is it?

Confusing, couldnt see what youu were doing with the key...
Unfortunately, this is one of my first videos. But if you listen I explain it very well all you’ll do is
1. Open door
2. cycle key on back to off 3 times
3. Close door then open door 3 times
4. Hit unlock 2 times on remote
You should then hear your door locks cycle then hit unlock on any other remotes you have. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
