This my opinion but Allah swt knows best. In my opinion Yajuj and Majuj are tribe locked by Zulqarnayn by Allah swt command somewhere in Antarctica. They are in the subterranean area and it says in the Hadith that they try to dig through the wall everyday, they see sunlight but then it is blocked again when they wake up. This suggests they are underground. Also it is stated that when they come out they will rampage and then all of them will die from a parasite (disease). This means they are in an area where they have not been exposed to diseases that we all are exposed to. This is what happened to the native Americans who were not exposed to small pox and large numbers perished when they met Europeans.

The hadith about the crumble of the wall most probably use to signifies when it will begin but it can begin elsewhere because in surah al kahf yajuj majuj is at the feet of the mountain, they cannot climb or dig through. But in surah al anbiya yajuj majuj descends from high ground not through a mountain passage in reference to what is stated in surah al kahf.

I suggest before coming to realisation who yajuj majuj is, first have to find out who Dzulqarnain really is. Then there is quite an impressive amount of referrence on steppe culture north of caucasus since 3300BC. Then we have to admit that if we use israiliyat prophetic timeline, then everything line up nicely with known world history.
