- Here's a video on the replacement procedure for the drive belt of a 50cc Lance Cabo (SYM) scooter, though it is basically the same for almost all 'twist and go' scooters.

bro this video helped me realise i was being so dumb😂 ive spent hours trying to get my belt over the front pulley when i hadn’t pushed it down into the rear pulley 😅 welp thanks i guess😂

Same mistake here. Have been watching several videos but all just seemed to be able to put a new belt in without effort. This was the first time I saw why. 😅

Will a slightly shorter belt make it faster or slower
Maybe a wrenchfor a clutch fan 🔧 but you'd have to measure the wholes if it's no an adjustable one.
That could work, as long as you're careful not to damage the fins

Is the bolt for the clutch at the back side of belt is it reverse thread can't get my bolt off

What if the belt housing cover is a metal and sealed on, how do you get it off safely?
Do you mean the cover for the belt drive? I'm assuming there's bolts, and once you get those off, it may take a little persuasion with a soft mallet or judicious use of a pry bar.
@@TheAfterWorkGarage I spoke from the guy I bought it from and he said if it goes above 30 the limited has been removed. Is that right? Trying to get up to 40 for more main roads, how could I accomplish that? Superflow carborator? It's a scootstars racestar, the cover is like diecast and doeeees not remove lol.
@@ohdok733if it’s a 50cc, 30-35 is about tops. The best way to get a little more out of it is an 80-100cc big bore kit. But keep in mind, then the bike would technically be illegal because you modified the speed.

Hi! Hopefully you've got it sorted out, but with a broken belt, replacement is the same, just make sure you remove the pieces of the old belt (if it was shredded) before installing a new one!

Everyone at the shop (official Vespa dealer) when I call is telling me that I might damage the crankshaft if I use an impact wrench. It’s an LX50
I think they’re just trying to discourage me from doing it myself. I’ve already done it on a Chinese scooter but I might have put the rollers back in wrong when I changed that

There's a special tool that holds the crank/variator in place while you unscrew the nut, however you can get around using this tool (which most people including myself don't have) by using an impact. The people at the dealer are likely correct in that use of an impact can damage the crank. I don't see much risk in taking the nut off, unless it's really really stuck on there, but you should definitely be a little careful putting it back on. You don't want to strip the threads on the end of the crank, and you also don't want to hammer the hell out of the rotating assembly/bearings. That said, if you're relatively careful, and don't use a giant IR impact, you're likely going to be ok. If in doubt, just get the tool that locks the variator plate in place, or take it to the shop. Good luck!
You can also use a big screwdriver to stop the crank from spinning while you remove the nut with a long breaker bar.

Depends on where you get them. I'd go with a good manufacture and expect to pay around $30. You can get cheap ones online for less than $10, but do you really want to risk being stuck on the side of the road?
The 17 mutter does not move at all. Stuck.
Am I right to conclude you don't need to remove the engine side ro remove or install the drive belt ?
You will have to remove the 8-9 bolts on the CVT case to expose the belt. This video is saving you the trouble of removing the crankshaft nut or variator nut
@grazz7865 very true when I changed my belt was quite a mission. Am guessing there is a tool to hold the clutches pulley open ? Tried to take apart the clutch assembly to replace the clutch shoes but seemed like it was welded on. In the end I bought a new assembly and didn't take long to do.
@@jaycool5978 in the video, he is basically squeezing the variator closed by hand. I was thinking about using a big channel lock wrench but you would probably scratch/dent/damage the variator unless you put rags between the variator and the teeth of the tool.
@grazz7865 the variator is om the engine side I think ? I had issues doing my original 1 by hand took a lot of force then I had to jam something inside to hold it open
@@jaycool5978 in the video, he said the belt itself was holding it open. But I guess you can stuff rags in there to keep it open while you work.
None of the nuts just does not open at all
If you're talking about the nuts on the drive belt cover, they can be pretty stuck. Mine were hard to get off at first, and I had to step up to a bigger ratchet the first time. In this video I had already had the cover off a number of times, so they were much easier to get off. I'd say just make sure you're using the right socket and use a bigger ratchet/impact
Remember they are 8mm so go easy on them. They’ll strip easily. Use anti sieze on the threads when you put it back so you don’t run into that problem again

Not totally sure what you're asking here, but a new drive belt for this scooter is about $50. There are cheaper belts available for other scooter sizes, however some cheap belts aren't worth buying as they will degrade/break quickly.
Why are you wearing your elegant shoes for this? You're going to ruin them.
