Your show is the highlight of my week. You both cut through the clutter & all the ambiguity. As for the “Generals” - I’m perplexed as to why they are so drawn to the so called “progressive left”? Seems to be utterly counter intuitive! With their brutal exposure to the jihadi death cult, one has to ask how/why they could possibly embrace the idea of peace/reconciliation with the Arabs on any level - they surely know better. Where in the disconnect? Btw Gadi, your command of the English language is superb & superior to most native English speakers. Shalom from a Jewish South African in the Philippines
They are drawn to the progressive left because it’s a knee jerk reaction to the right in israel, which is religious and therefore believes that the land of Israel belongs to the Jews. So they have to adopt a view that envisions some kind of leftist utopia where everyone holds hands singing kumbaya…
Generals are not progressives. Herzi Halevi’s father fought in Irgun. Look up his bio. Superman. The problem is that Israel became a Western country, its elites - left & right, civilian & military- are infected by suicidal empathy. Read “What we have forgotten about war” by Victor Davis Hanson in Mosaic magazine.
We should see the difference between generals, high military commanders, and rapacious and slimy bureaucrats in military uniform. Those are completely different creatures. The latter ones are drawn to "progressive” left bc that’s where the money and power is. So, that you get a better idea - a retired “progressive” judge may rake in $400K - $700K of annual pension. That’s without various perks, bonuses etc. “Progressivism” in Israel, just like elsewhere, is about greed and corruption. As of today, the political system in Israel is completely screwed, and Oct 7 was predetermined, regretfully. When nobody oils the running train, when ppl who notice smoke and fires in the engine are gagged - catastrophe is bound to happen.
Actually, that rant was over-the-top & wildly exaggerated…. And I said this from a thoroughly RW perspective. Whatever Halevi’s shortcomings-and Gadi Taub certainly didn’t whitewash them -Herzi Halevi is not a “rapacious, slimy individual”. I’m pretty sure Gadi would agree. Israel is very complex, and those who reduce every issue in America to Brave Infallible Trump vs the Evil Left, sound even more foolish when they project this sort of black-&-white thinking on Israel’s remarkably complex society. As Gadi himself said in this very podcast: Israel has ALWAYS had people who were brave & strong in a military context-but were weak failures once they shifted into the political arena. This was true decades ago, and still is today. But they cannot all be so easily dismissed as nothing more than feckless, cowardly opportunists.
A wonderful discussion, once again. I really appreciated hearing about General Herzi Halevi and President Trump's somewhat dubious Middle East appointees. Thank you both...🙏🇮🇱💙

You could use your tagline as a foundation; as humorous as possible under the circumstances, as penetrating as possible, as brilliant as possible, and when of use; as persevering as possible, as watchful as possible, Etc. Love your work! Been waiting for this one.
As sane as possible under the media circus tent where they all ride on a merry go round that has only one destination, Netanyahu has to go. The editor of TOI has a mental block. Every time Bibi does something he doesn't agree with. Bang, its always the same answer; Bibi is just doing this to stay in power. Even Haviv Rettig, who I love, has the same problem. They can't hold a contrary view, such as maybe Netanyahu thinks the future fate of the country is in serious jeopardy if someone else is PM. Because the others show a willingness to go back and make the same mistakes over again. Such as trusting Hamas will keep its word. The same Conceptia. Just give in to everything Hamas, the US, UK, France wants. As we have seen with the Rafah and Hezbollah operations, we do better when we trust ourselves. The US does NOT understand the ME. I thought Trump did, but I'm not so sure anymore.
This time, I agree with Mike about the Tucker Carlson component in opposition to the Mike Huckabee component, which can dampen our over arching enthusiasm for full throttled support from the Trump adminisration for Israel. Carlson is a troubling factor and the repackaging of the Biden policies toward Iran as Maga policies is just what we were all hoping to get away from with a Trump win, despite Trump enacting important anti Progressive actions, of course. Trump being unpredictable and influenced historically by the last person /advisor with whom he speaks, remains a question mark as far as Israel and the ME are concerned. In addition, a deal at any price as long as it is a quick deal is not a good long term strategy. Not impressed with Witkoff at all. I enjoyed Gadi's cogent take down of Hertzil Halevi in a step by step fashion. One of your better duscussions. Thank you!
Gadi, your tolerance and constrain towards Mike (your majesty) is commendable. The ceasefire deal was the shock to all of us. Trump-Mosiah turned to such a disappointment.
Mostly to those foolish enough to have even briefly thought he was the Messiah. Trump is many things-but he is not stable,, loyal, or a deep thinker. He does often take smart positions and do good things… And that’s what we have to.hope will continue in his 2nd term. But those who thought he was just going to storm in to the Middle East and mop up all the terrorists (I’ve actually heard comments to that effect) are idiots, and have only themselves to blame if they feel shocked & disappointed.
The head of Southerrn Command who also should have been fired has resigned as well. Caroline Glick has been saying since October 2023 that both of them should be fired.
I'm an outsider who loves Israel and the God of Israel and I have always seen Halevi and Gallant as traitors. I'm sorry about the negotiations with evil who will simply take this handing over hostages as the signal to take more. I hope the hostage protesters will remember this when it happens again, setting emotions aside about monsters holding the hostages. Thank you both always for honesty

There you both have it ! Thank you.
I need more of your comments in the deal. We in my family are shaken by Witkoff's ignorant statements that dealmaking will solve the issues: by the use of the Biden terms of the deal from last May; 😮 1:01:25 and are concerned that Talmudic legal concepts must be invoked for weighing the dangers involved in retrieving hostages. Also Witkoff seems to love the Qatari ruling family, who are really the lowest of lowlife thugs who happen to be sitting on liquid gold. Witkoff is a business partner of Qatar. This worries me, as does what Mike said about the appointment of Michael Domino in Dept Defense. A revealing comment about the State Dept. use of a human rights policy among the Atabs in order to downgrade Israel.
Among the best channels out there. Michael's insights into behind-the-scenes US policy are second to none. IMHO, he's still way off on Erdogan, though ;)
I feel just like how Gadi looks at the end of this show: (deeply disappointed ) is as close as I can get to define it. When the details of the ceasefire “deal” were disclosed I was disgusted. I’ve seen a partial list ( on an Israeli podcast) of some of the prisoners Hamas ( or should I say Qatar) requested to be released in exchange for innocent Israeli hostages and it’s terrifying. These men would have had the death penalty in the US, without question. I have a hard time understanding why Israel has to accept this crappy deal because it’s extremely dangerous to let terrorists free with so much blood on their hands. What other country would be expected to let 30 murderers out of prison in exchange for a single hostage (a baby or a teenager or an elderly man). It seems unbelievable that President Trump would be so reckless with Israel’s security after the horrors of Oct. 7th. It’s really confusing…
We may call it 'electoral democracy' - with a qualification that in recent years many secular leftwing voters stay home, go to the beach or barbeque, while the rightwing & ultra-Orthodox show up in numbers and/or are herded by their rabbis to the voting booths in a proportion reminding of the 'general vots' in the USSR.
Nah… It’s a stretch to call people like you decent or moral. As for ‘humane’-how hypocrites like you typically see yourselves-that’s laughable & absurd..
Witcoff, in an interview, appeared to believe that Arabs will forget Islam and Islamism if he offers them western living standards. Then Qatar link. Bad news.
@@savta-klavtaomg that's progressive thinking and a total misread of the ME. Quatar is not Saudi or UAE or Bahrain. He's grouping all Arabs as all the same thing. He's being fooled by Qatars Wahabism with the modern times. Whether it is disengage the US from the ME or simply to facilitate the rise a new ME power block through the Abrahams accords, the fact is that Trump's insistence on peace in Gaza at all costs is an extremely significant action, in fact the most prejudicial action with respect to Israel that he could have taken. We don't know yet what his end game is but to say that things are still in the air is likely false. We may not yet know but Trump does or he wouldn't have taken such a drastic action.
I don't like Witkoff at all. He is connected to Qatar financially. I love that Trump is President again and I love most of his administration, but Witkoff bothers me. I hope I'm wrong.
Witkoff has to goooooo! I understand he has REAL ESTATE DEALS with QATER and other parts of the Middle East. This makes him NOT a good negotiator; instead, he just wants what is best for HIM, not either party in the negotiations. I did read (don't remember where) that Jared Kuskner also has REAL ESTATE DEALS going with QATAR and other parts of the ME. With that, we can easily say, something is rotten (not in Denmark, though I suppose there could be), but in the negotiations on behalf of Israel, which are NOT in Israel's favor at all!
Mike said “it”. Something I’ve heard no one else say. The ceasefire agreement at the end keeps HAMAS in power and Israel completely withdrawn from Gaza. This is why the agreement is bad.
Great show; informative and great analysis from both hosts. Thank you. I stand with Israel, always and forever. ❤❤❤❤ I wonder if Saudi Arabia will be a willing parter of Abraham Accord if Iran’s nuclear ambition is not terminated. Time to buckle up IL to go it alone. Put your faith in your Almighty God and Bibi; not on uncertain foreign politicians. Trump also have political ambitions for his son Baron and may want to keep some of his promises to certain influential supporters…
Must watch show as always. Instead of Gadi complaining about Mike talking too much when Gadi tries to change the topic, why not just have a longer show? You both have a ton to say that is extremely interesting. And it is most interesting when you have different takes on an issue.
Mike makes a good point about Israel not having a day after plan. It doesn’t have a to be a total plan, but the basic outline should be formed and part of the war strategy. At this point the Israelis could have separated noncombatant portions of the population from the Hamas fighters and enablers. The worst part of this plan is withdrawals that will ultimately lead to having to retake land already taken and the associated costs in human life.
There is a plan. They just can't say it right now because it's politically not viable. I disagree you can separate Hamas from the population. It's not possible
Let's say those on the right who are frustrated with Netanyahu get their wish (and let's also presume for argument's sake he's fit to go now as some on the religious datim side believe). Who is the PM and the statesman (or woman) who could lead Israel for the next generation or two like Netanyahu has? It's clear that nobody on the left or the so-called center (mostly rebranded leftists who've realized reality was way further to the right than they believed for decades), so who would it be? Who has the political savvy, the sechel and hokhmah, the chessplaying ability, and the shrewdness to lead the country politically? Who is this person (this person doesn't even need to realistically be electable for this discussion, just someone who checks all the boxes)?
@@savta-klavta That's the downside to having one person monopolize state craft for so long is that leadership beneath is not developed and cultivated as threats are often eliminated.
Gadi - your facial expression embodies Israel right now - "USA what the hell did you just do to us?" Mike - yours embodies America -"Huh, sucks for Israel." This is not going according to the plan. Israel needs fully independent arms manufacturing. Steve Witcoff is in Qatar's pocket. Huge mistake.
My favorite podcast. You guys bring just the right balance of expertise, knowledge & insight… in a down-to-earth, listenable, even amusing format. Both of you make good points and the back-&-forth, and your differences, are themselves enlightening. I tend to agree a little more with Gadi's takes, including his view that Mike is [much] less naïve than many Americans… but maybe not as UN-naïve as he likes to think.
For the algorithm, 🙏🙏❤️❤️🇺🇸🎗️🎗️🎗️🎗️🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱💙🤍💙🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱 All my love and support to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the IDF, Israel and the Israeli people. May God's love and protection carry Israel to victory safely and may all the hostages be returned promptly,
Timeline of Ceasefire: please don't fail to notice that Halevi's resignation is due just after end of Phase 1 of the Ceasefire. It'll be interesting to see if HAMAS seeks to see it through.
What happened to the trial that Netanyahu was facing, why I don´t hear anything about it anymore, makes me become paraniod when I think that their is a possibilitiy that he might negotiate this awful deal with the left to be absolved?
I've been wondering the same. I've presumed that since they couldn't get him out before Trump maybe they were going to pivot to something else? Your idea is an interesting one, but I would just hope and say: "say it ain't so, Joe; say it ain't so!"
Which WCK investigation is being referred to here? The one the IDF released in April said coordination between the WCK and the IDF was not properly relayed between the Israeli agencies involved in the process. The gunmen were identified on the trucks but the missiles were fired at accompanying vehicles after the aid was unloaded. It was a misidentification according to the report as published by AIPAC
I think a rare misspeak by Mike on the alphabet of govt agencies. Brian Hook could not have been under consideration for Undersecretary of Poiicy at State because there is no such position. That position is at DOD. Hook was head of State Department of Office Policy Planning during part of President Trump's first term. He may have been under consideration for Undersecretary for Political Affairs.
Gen. David Petraeus concurs that the right strategy for Gaza should have been a temporary occupation: th-cam.com/video/qziBo4owf6A/w-d-xo.html (min 25:45-30:30). Perhaps still true. Einat Wilf agrees (see her recent Jerusalem Press briefing). She also demands a denazification campaign, as in Germany & Japan post 45. Gadi: Please back up your claim that virtually all UNWRA-staff are Hamas-members with a reference.
@@elizabethmackenzie5730 Yes, I wasn't sure how you meant that but I agree. Pompeo's stance on many things was solid and he acted according to his principles. He's a strong character and think is misunderstood by many zealot hotheads. Pompeo loyally served Trump and the American people to the end of Trump's first term, yet is characterized by some Trump supporters as a traitor. a non-ideological counter-balance is ESSENTIAL. After seeing how the sausage was made in DC and Jerusalem, I could no longer look at the process the same way that the public did.
38:35 based on your revelations, Mike, every day Israel is not attacking Iran's nuclear capabilities, is another day closer to losing any possibility of doing so?! Is that what you're saying?
Enlightening! I was hoping Mr. Duran would continue to naively defend the “humanity” of the Muslim Brotherhood and Syrian occupiers. Looking forward to the next “as sane as possible “!
On the comments about military decisions not being political : too many generals have gone into politics to be able to maintain that statement in Israel. Clearly all senior military personnel have political agendas
Gadi, the use of the word "refusenik" is usually confined to Soviet Jewry's מסורבי עליה (at least this is the common connotation). You can use the word "dissidents" if you wish to politely refer to the troglodytes from אחים לנשק. I can think of terms that would be more appropriate, but I wouldn't want to be taken off the platform...
Can you provide a link to support the claim that The World Kitchen relief workers got into a vehicle with armed Hamas terrorists? I can't find support for this (at least at a cursory glance) anywhere in the media coverage.
Hetzi Nekhama coming back? I've heard some rumblings that Hetzi Nekhama (sp?) may also be brought back in, but I've never heard of him and couldn't find much on him in Hebrew or in English. Can any of you tell me more about him? Winter might have been the Biden admin's fear all along. They ran him out on a rail.

I don't like Witkoff at all. He is connected to Qatar financially. I love that Trump is President again and I love most of his administration, but Witkoff bothers me. I hope I'm wrong.
Still sane as possible under the circumstances
Definitely the most sane as possible under the circumstances
Hey, a good start at analysing US decisions on the middle east. I hope they get it right soon. 🙏🙏
Witcock had previous history with Qatar. He owes Qatar when he was about to be bankrupt. It was in the news
Mike said “it”. Something I’ve heard no one else say. The ceasefire agreement at the end keeps HAMAS in power and Israel completely withdrawn from Gaza. This is why the agreement is bad.
Illustrious
Great show; informative and great analysis from both hosts. Thank you. I stand with Israel, always and forever. ❤❤❤❤ I wonder if Saudi Arabia will be a willing parter of Abraham Accord if Iran’s nuclear ambition is not terminated. Time to buckle up IL to go it alone. Put your faith in your Almighty God and Bibi; not on uncertain foreign politicians. Trump also have political ambitions for his son Baron and may want to keep some of his promises to certain influential supporters…
Best of the web, today.
I think it is unfortunately unavoidable that at some point they will each go on their own. I start sensing some trouble in paradise.
What exactly are you observing?
Must watch show as always. Instead of Gadi complaining about Mike talking too much when Gadi tries to change the topic, why not just have a longer show? You both have a ton to say that is extremely interesting. And it is most interesting when you have different takes on an issue.
peacemaker used to be a gun in the western movies
Mike makes a good point about Israel not having a day after plan. It doesn’t have a to be a total plan, but the basic outline should be formed and part of the war strategy. At this point the Israelis could have separated noncombatant portions of the population from the Hamas fighters and enablers. The worst part of this plan is withdrawals that will ultimately lead to having to retake land already taken and the associated costs in human life.
They had The Generals Plan for Northern Gaza and then they abandoned it (likely American pressure via Halevi).
There is a plan. They just can't say it right now because it's politically not viable. I disagree you can separate Hamas from the population. It's not possible
@@rose-mariefisk768 Interesting! And what do you think that plan is, Rose?
Gadi, you need to appear with the warning “CAUTION, ALLERGIC TO BULLSHIT”.

True colossal failures!
We would say “it’s time to ante up” regarding the Israeli phrase “it’s time to put your keys on the table.”
Just listen to people who have left Islam and what their experiences were…. Their hate is real and religious and unrelenting.
👍
Nice
Dealing with Mad Max.
I’m asking Israelis this question over and over. Unfortunately nobody knows the answer. Not Bibi’s supporters, and not Bibi haters.
Looking forward to the sequel "The Duran strikes again"

Heartless broadcast. Fluff at the end about a deal that shouldn't have been made.
Best show on the internet ❤
Pompeo is a loss.
How so?
@@PaulBCohen He understood how to pursue a policy of peace through strength.
@@elizabethmackenzie5730 Yes, I wasn't sure how you meant that but I agree. Pompeo's stance on many things was solid and he acted according to his principles. He's a strong character and think is misunderstood by many zealot hotheads. For example, Assange isn't the saint he's made out to be and Pompeo never put a hit out on him, either, yet Pompeo is maligned as if he's a cold-blooded murderer.
Pompeo loyally served Trump and the American people to the end of Trump's first term, yet is characterized by some Trump supporters as a traitor. I have the impression some of these unhinged critics, such as Tucker Carlson, have negatively influenced President Trump.
By God power
a non-ideological counter-balance is ESSENTIAL. After seeing how the sausage was made in DC and Jerusalem, I could no longer look at the process the same way that the public did.
Quit interrupting!
The tagline is perfect. Michael is right, maspik gadi
I'm with Gadi on this: It's witty and cute, but doesn't hit the note it needs to...and doesn't get to the essence of what they are and what they do.
Todah raba! I hope one day you will interviewl Joseph Cohen of Israel Advocacy yt channel. He also provides historic background.
Gracie Allen and George Burns?
38:35 based on your revelations, Mike, every day Israel is not attacking Iran's nuclear capabilities, is another day closer to losing any possibility of doing so?! Is that what you're saying?
Enlightening! I was hoping Mr. Duran would continue to naively defend the “humanity” of the Muslim Brotherhood and Syrian occupiers. Looking forward to the next “as sane as possible “!
T doesn’t like wars.
But Gadi fails to mention another graduate of the commandos: Netanyahu.
And so there's no vision there either.
A good title might be "We attempt to challenge the majority view of the media". That is accurate. It does not involve a self-assessment.

Progressive used to mean good works. WT -?
Can you provide a link to support the claim that The World Kitchen relief workers got into a vehicle with armed Hamas terrorists? I can't find support for this (at least at a cursory glance) anywhere in the media coverage.
Hetzi Nekhama coming back? I've heard some rumblings that Hetzi Nekhama (sp?) may also be brought back in, but I've never heard of him and couldn't find much on him in Hebrew or in English. Can any of you tell me more about him? Winter might have been the Biden admin's fear all along. They ran him out on a rail.
self-assessment is always highly questionable.
I would say that perspective is very gloomy for Israel IMHO.
what happened to 'we must enter RAFFA' the last 4 batttalion's remain🤔thats where the hostages are obviously more BS
