The boys over at Nexus at Night made a great point. Shop promos in Japan work because there is such a concentration of shops and tournaments so getting them is easier than in places like the U.S. where shops are infinitely more spread out.
In my opinion, if they want to keep releasing these kind of staples in Promo packs, it should be in an advance set line of thing. Like, release these as promos now, and then they're printed as normal later.
100%
Just like promo reprints in v clan collections
agreed. i wish it was relatively fast with what the seraph top deck prison in early set 3 reveal had as part of set 4 when it was release.
And I guess to make the incentive remain, have a tournament within the time gap so you have a soft time limit for getting the PRs
I just really want clarity of when English will get cards that are promos in Japan. Because sometimes the promos are so needed in a specific deck (looking at you witch of precious stones Dana in V series) it’s to the point that I’m waiting weeks and months for official English channels to announce that card being printed in English at all. Whether it’s as a promo or will be printed in a clan collection I just want to know that I’ll have access to it
I'm still waiting for Battlefang Helltiger 🤣🤣🤣
Honestly the simplest solution is make promos alternate artworks of various deck's "main cards" like what you mention around 9ish minutes. That way it feels like people are still getting something they want and can use in decks and can probably resell for collectors if they want to because it's still that limited promo volume. Like maybe even make it themed like one month is Blaster Blade/Royals, then the next is Blaster Dark/Shadows, then Golds/Liberators or even MLB support or something and eventually reach other strategies like Dragonic Overlord, Daiyusha, and the like. Hell people love reverse cards so maybe have a series of those as promos. There's a lot of ways this can be structured successfully
The Main Reason why Bushi keeps making good promo cards is because people are not being subscribed to DifferentFight channel and is nearing that glorious 50k subs. Help this man get to 50k subs and they will eventually release them in the English Side sooner rather than later.
My man do be spittin'
@@DifferentFight well, what i can say. im just handing out facts. lmao 🤣🤣
alternate art promos is what force of will does and those promos are usually worth a bit since they started choosing more carefully to give cards that are actually played alt arts. it also makes good cards a bit more accessible which is great i think
As a Aqua Force/Stoicheia main I had to abandon my Thavas deck because Pursuit Assault was just flat out unobtainable at first and the stupidly priced after. Given how hard he was to come by and how he's basically a staple in all other Aqua decks, his reprint in the upcoming V Collection wont fix his avalibility issue I fear.
Enpix then happened and I had to play sub optimal Magnolia.
As a player, these essential promos that are (at best) hard to come by just make me feel bad every time one comes out.
For someone who lives in Ireland where there is no local/tournament scene, it really sucks because I literally have no way of naturally obtaining these promos.
Honestly...imagine a promo being a game changer to how you play the deck.
I wish they would take the Yu-Gi-Oh route where it's common and rare rarity for older RR/RRR. Then have commons and rares get RR/RRR foiling. Or as you said alt arts and the old congrats promos.
In italy we have a bit of a "weird" situation: we still get cards such as lizard soldier bellog and brilliant blister as actual promos, But some others like the shadow paladin G 12k attacker got printed as a Rare, same goes to an aqua force G2 that restands and gets +5k if a G3 is checked.
what I personally think is that promos should be just that: promos, Like the various Overdress Obaria "reprints" or maybe be just as you said: reprints, maybe with a different artwork or soon-to print cards like ygo did a couple of years ago: They printed soon-to be released cards as foils inside 3-pack boxes of the current expansion.
Like for vanguard, maybe we could get promos of good commons or rares from the next set that boosts already existing strategies.
For V-premium and Premium I'd say that reprinting important commons and rares wuold be a good thing this way in the yearly collections could be inseret more chased cards.
V was especially bad with it with events and it sometimes determined on whether Bushiroad feels like reprinting it in Clan Collection:
Jaedoneko completely fixes Magatsu from being unplayable to quite a fast Deck, but English had to wait an entire year to get it.
Amergin completely fixes Claret Sword, we're only just getting it in September when it was out almost 2 years ago in Japan.
Cosmic Hero still hasn't got Battlefang Helltiger
We only now just getting Gear Puppy for Lost Legend/Mystery Flare, the Nightmare Doll promo for Nightmare Dolls and the Deletor Grade 1 so Deletor, Given is FINALLY playable.
Good Video as always DF , hopefully you reach 50k subs
I think Magazine Promos should be made into Box Toppers for booster sets outside of Japan personally
It will incentivize people to buy the booster Box
I also feel alternate art promos of staple cards given at tournaments would be amazing as well and even grade 3 cards as well that belong a ride line.
This are just some ideas I came up with on the fly XD
Like imagine Nirvana in a pose that is similar to Dragonic Overlords original art work with its name written in red
Imagine a alternate full Art Apex Ruler Bastion card with his armored cracked in a pose that is similar to Blaster blade OG art work and the name is written in dark blue.
Imagine a borderless hot stamp card of Seraph Snow dressed like Tomari in her Police outfit with her name written in silver looking confident
Imagine Bruce doing an iconic pose from a NFL player with his name written in Gold
Imagine Magnolia in an artwork where Magnolia is standing above in a cliff looking like its on the prowl with the name written in dark green
I have seen that Korean players have been lucky enough to get D-promos (e.g. Macharite) printed into their booster sets rather than having the "distribution" of these cards that English players have to put up with. Almost anyone who can sit down and think about why Japan's promo scheme will work in their environment, will come to the same points made by DF in this video... So I think a lot of us are asking, why isn't Bushiroad EN adjusting their practices to better accomodate their communities? I find it really hard to wholeheartedly support their games when we (English Vanguard playerbase) have been shafted regarding these cards for 3 years...
In my opinion there are three types of promos
First is Just Cause that you could play that aren't that good yet aren't that bad
Second or cards that are so good that she should and most likely need to play them in your deck
And lastly cards that are necessary for the deck to function properly that are promos for some reason that really should have not been promos in the first place like the bang dream deck that is in all SP that had the grade two or to be a promo almost recently the grade 1 research order card that should have been sent five in the first place
And that new flagberg for probably also goes under there too
The amount fo good promos is getting out of hand. I feel like this is where festival collection should come in to play.
Any good D promos get reprinted there. And V promos in DVS.
Ths just seems like the no-brainer idea
Me and my friend went to a locals the other day and we both bought some vanguard boxes I bought a box of set 4 and he bought a box record of ragnarok and the shop owner told us they had a bunch of promo cards for vanguard just sitting their because they don’t get enough people to play in tournaments so now we both have 9 copies of Sazanda and Katrina, if we keep getting deck defying promos most of them are just going to be sitting shops that don’t have big enough community to even give out hopefully it changes in the future
I mean they could do what they did it G where we had RE cards in the set but then again those were like 1 per box so that might not be the best idea , it'd be nice to see a reprint set but i doubt they'd do either
They did reprint overtriggers and the effect PGs though so there's maybe potential there
One of the annoying parts about changing the current system is that the promos we do get are amazing quality and like you said: put them in the next set instead! But that only works for standard and V specific promos still dont have a good way to be distributed then. Anyway very interesting topic
More than anything these good promo cards make me anxious with whether or not I'll be able to pick up a playset reliably. I think the best way is to make promos foil and print lower rarities of them in main sets. People that want the foil will go after the promo version whereas people that simply just want to upgrade their deck and play with the card can get it from the set with ease.
>Be me.
>Be an Overlord _e n j o y e r ._
>Be also from South América.
>Bushi prints good support.
>It's a promo.
>It's from Monthly Bushiroad.
Yeah I'm not exactly thrilled by this at all man. It already is super difficult to get cards here, now that is almost imposible.
If the promos where Alt art of cards that came in a recent set it would be better, like, alt art Zorga=Grave f.e. Or alt art Trickmoon like they did with Triskstar. Dunno, just don't leave half of the world out of the good stuff.
I will always stand by the ideology that promos whether tourney, special events or through some type promotion like magazines, games whatever the case should always be either just a Holo version of card already released in set or a alternate art of card that was released in a set or will be released in a set. I do not enjoy good playable promos to be limited for any player of a tcg, especially if promo is hard to get limited and makes certain decks viable or just better in general.
As a player in Hong kong, at least in the asia side (mainly China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Maccau) of things, shop will just preorder monthly bushiroads from the distributor and ship them directly to the shop for them to sell. And since to be honest the market here is sparse compare to what it is in other places, shops usually just sell the promo packs after the shop tournaments, cuz there are usually a lot of packs left even after whole months of shop tournaments. The main problems are the main distributors holding up the packs or PR cards. But yea they should not print pr exclusive cards especially its that good, it should be universal for ppl to access.
We Australians feel the pain of our main distributors hoarding these promos and selling them for their profit...
These promo cards are just commons in CFA 😂🤭
CFA is less than ideal and nowhere near a real subsitute for actually playing IRL.
The issue with promos in my opinion is just how unfair they are for certain players who either don't go to locals or don't have any locals that support Vanguard in their towns.
Imagine having a group of friends who are all super into Vanguard, and then there's a new card that's highly sought-after for your deck, but it's a promo. Players with no locals, or no locals that support Vanguard, or players who have anxiety participating in tournaments, are now forced to resort to the secondary market for those cards.
It feels awkward and annoying. When you look at TCG's like Magic you see promo's being alternate-art of existing cards, with fancy borders or special art. Those promo's feel fair because you're not losing out on key cards that might be needed to fix your deck, they're bling.
Vanguard needs to do this instead.
I'm sick to death of promo's in Vanguard being either "extremely useless niche" cards or "extremely relevant for your deck to do well" cards. It especially feels bad when you factor in the limited printing of these cards.
If promo's were alternate art, full border art, signed art, or foil printings of existing cards, it would feel so much better because that's still a chase for people who care about bling, it's something that people can still trade or sell, and if you don't get it in time you're not missing potentially key cards for your decks because you can just get the standard versions in boosters as well.
The key issue here is FOMO. It doesn't feel good when players feel forced to play in tournaments at locals just because they might not get certain cards otherwise.
people: why are all the promos we get bad?
also people:
The solution you describe is basically how MtG has handled it for most of its lifespan, give or take a few screwups (nexus of fate being a box topper) and I think they generally handle it best.
Some shops here never gave players the good promos. They straight up sell them for profit
I had to abandon deletors a while back because a staple promo they needed never left japan, and is now only coming to the English format as a promo for a tournament I can't attend.
And my friend almost abandoned seraph snow because of accuse makarite being a promo that was near 30 dollars for a copy at one point that was near impossible to find
I miss when we would have box toppers in main booster and extra booster sets. Like even if you can add these jp promos to the sets themselves, at least put them in as box toppers so we can get them in an easier and more guaranteed fashion (even tho trying to get Swordmys back in the day was still rough lol).
Speaking of promos that haven't come over to English, it has been 3136 days since Goeagle was released. WHEN WILL I GET MY +2 ADDITIONAL CRITS BUSHI?!?! WHEN?!?!
I don’t mind promos what I do mind is that we have to wait months or even years before we see them in English.
personally I think saying the promos are free is kinda cope when the promo is the main reason you're attending. Like I get the argument, but when the promos are a need, are you *really* setting the time & Money aside JUST to attend locals? Or do you do it because it's more cost effective than buying a playlet of Pursuit assault for $200
In my personal case, I haven't needed a single promo in the last 2 packs for the last 4 months, so yeah I've been attending locals purely for the sake of playing and being there
@@DifferentFight That's valid, and same here, but the I was referring to is more so relevant when you DO need the promos. Of course, when you just attend locals you attend to have fun. But it's mores when a promo you actually DO need appears which is when attending locals becomes a little more high stress than it really needs to be. I feel promos should be reprinted in main sets and mostly act like the old congratulations promos did where it's more like "Hey, you like this card? Well here it is with a diff rarity" but where it doesn't actively impede on your ability to play Thavas for 2 years.
It's also ridiculous how long a lot of promos take to get imported. Look at the Deletor and Claret promos for example
The colors in your DF looks likes baskin robins logo 🤣
Don’t the monthly magazines exist outside of Japan? I’ve seen them before in shops here in Singapore before
Some places do import them, but it's usually on a fairly low stock and upscaled in price
@@DifferentFight oh yeah that makes sense, explains why the magazines are $18 per
I've always said promos should be foils of non foil cards, vanguard in a overdress promo pack had non foil full art cards from set 2 and they were good, like give staple cards a special foiling
None of what DF actually talks about for promos fits for my locals. My locals has us out right pay for the promo or pay extra for a random promo (can then be extremely older promo) when entering the tournament. They also don’t buy CFV cards from the players only Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokémon, MTG they will buy from players. So for the most part in my experience in the USA some shops don’t follow the plan that DF talks about. When I went to Japan I saw shops follow that plan but they have a better market and shops have a better hands on partnership with bushiroad to do so. So for English the plan or strategy DF works for Japan but not for the English version. Especially for those who don’t have locals or decent locals to play.
Making alt art promos literally like what they did in zero would be a way better insentive. Doesn't feel predatory and much like people grinded the zero ladder, they would go to shop tournaments for those.
We don't have official tournaments in my country so every single promo has to be bought second hand, which sucks a lot. Cardmarket doesn't even list 95% of the promos.
Honestly just hope they address this plus overTrigger as they are my main 2 complaints in vanguard nowadays
Man, Bushi really brings out good promo cards for no reason
Atleast the eva order is a 2 of
I do understand the reasons why they make good cards promos. But its soo annoying, making good cards harder to get, and making them only available for a limited amount is just a pain.
I never like that idea of cards being exclusive to outside main products (Sets, Decks), speaking of which I know the DD protage ace is coming out in set 8, but isn't so far the Demon Dragon only available as part of the game? You can tell they slightly thought about it because you can only play 1 copy of the Demon Dragon, so not to have people need to buy 4 copies of the game.
Look in a prefect world promos would just either be Advance cards from an upcoming set, or high rarity cards of from previous sets (Could even use to make higher rarity version of good commons or rares).
Also it's just on Japanese format, in English you better pray that the promo you need ever gets print in the first place, and that's nothing short of baffling.
Really hoping all these prs end up on dear days at least
I need help Vanguard zero
as a japanese format player playing outside of japan it REALLY sucks especially the magazine promos.
This entire argument doesn't even mention the fact that for a lot of people getting the promos as tournament rewards isn't even an option because not everyone has access to locals with tournament support. That's where the real problem is. Trying to get these promos as singles is not an option either, most online stores don't stock them, the few that do make them disgustingly over-expensive.
Sadly, Bushi seems absolutely dead-set on making sure that 99% of Cs and Rs are absolutely unplayable when they could easily make support for struggling ride chains with the space
This is sad if the blaze maiden trickmoon searcher is a manga PR
As a Bav main its very sad
And this is why I hesitate to get into the Vanguard TCG.
Cries in bsf promos........ fuck 30 dollars for claseena
Any promos made for D have to be released as part of future festival collections! 😡 As an English Flagburg player I do not expect I will ever get that magazine promo. And that vexes me and it continues to vex me because I seem to recall last year that Bushiroad claimed they would reevaluate and revise how they would do promos, yet here they are falling back into their old ways. And it's not like there's any direct way to address the issue with them, which also vexes me. And quite frankly I would be more excited for alternate art promos than cards that just raise the tier of my deck. Hell they should pull a Yugioh and release 2 or so cards a set that are pulled from a future set as a lower or higher rarity than what they would be in their own sets, like as say a box topper.
Promos should be alt arts period. Give us beach arts during summer, halloween/autumn themes during fall, snowy/Christmas themes during winter and etc. Beach day overlord with water guns and swim trunks when?
Because bushi never learns 😑
Mate, this is just a Ted talk on why capitalism sucks.
because they keep making bad main release product
I just wish to get the new order for Eva... I gave up on Enpix x.x and I wish to know when they will be released
