  • A walk around tour and short drive of a minty 51k mile 1993 Mercury Sable, a Taurus in light bar guise. Wonderful teal paint and soft cloth "bench seated" interior makes this a cozy place to float down the road. For sale with proceeds going to charity RIGHT NOW @Cars & Bids

I'd give ANYTHING for Ford to bring back that light bar in the front! It was so futuristic looking and just set the whole car apart from its competitors, aesthetic-wise.

This was the car my parents had when I was little! I always loved the light bar and how the rear quarter panels covered part of the rear tires. I remember it started having some serious issues as I got a little older and my parents replaced it with a 2000 Buick Lesabre lol thanks for sharing!

That's kinda of funny b/c I had a '95 Sable and replaced it with a '03 LeSabre, lol.

The early Mercury Topaz had a similar design with front light bar. I had a 1987 Sable LS red on red with all the goodies. Most comfortable and best riding car I ever owned. Sadly the engine freezed up somewhere around 80,000 miles and I had to trade it in. I still miss that car. At one time these cars and their Taurus siblings were everywhere. Nearly impossible to find one today.

Bro i found one! And if you wouldn't mind telling me what you mean by it froze at 80,000? I ask cuz the one i found is at 87,000 and ik i shouldn't expect too have it working for years but i at least need it too last me a few months too a year lol

@@Fax_my_pants it should be fine. My car suffered from neglect caused by me. I was young and stupid and not exactly diligent in taking care of it. Live and learn! Where did you find yours? It’s like finding a needle in a haystack these days.

Love the old style cars. The older the better. The newer cars get, the more I dislike them.

Whatttt. It actually lights up? I thought it was just for looks. And seeing how light bar headlights and taillights are making a comeback, its a plus.

The LS is the best model to get as this was the mid trim level. But non less this car looks great for its age no doubt! True classic throwback to my childhood. My mom's Aunt Elaine had a 1993 Taurus GL that was same color had tan cloth interior and had the awful 3.8 Essex V6 engine that most likely had head gasket issues and would always flood. I prefer the smaller 3.0 V6 as the better more reliable engine for these cars. Regardless she had that car for a long long time and held up pretty well for what it was.

So annoyed this was put up for sale a couple months ago. My daily got tboned by a distracted driver recently (r.i.p. car), & now I’m looking all over to no avail to find a 2nd Gen Sable & I would have picked this up in a heartbeat had it been up for sale now

You'll have more luck than me finding that. I'm looking for an 86 Taurus LX wagon for future restoration and the gen one Taurus and Sables sold form 86-91 are pretty much near impossible to find. I had the chance to get a clean 86 LX wagon from Portland Oregon but my dad had to be a cucking coward and get in the way.

@@ironinquisitor3656 Problem is I’m ideally looking for a specific color! Light Evergreen Frost Metallic! Good luck to you though! 1st Gen Wagons are awesome!

@@azhurelpigeon Yeah I totally understand the pain of looking for something specific. The 1986 color option I really want is Medium Canyon Red for my dream wagon. I know of a 1994 or 1995 Sable LS wagon in that Evergreen Frost color in my neighboorhood. I actually asked the elderly woman who owned it about the car if she'd be interested in selling it to me when she wants/and or needs to in the future. My aunt also gave me her Gen 2 Sable wagon last year. It's a 1992 LS wagon in light blue with pretty much every bell and whistle you could buy; keypad, digital instrument cluster, electronic climate control. It's only missing leather seats, rear wiper, passenger power seat, and sunroof. I hope you can find your dream Sable too!

I’m looking for a sable too as well as a villager,no luck though, every listing I found turned out to be a month or two ago, I’m hoping to find one soon as I’m starting college in 9 days and the car that was given to me as a daily driver broke down and I assure that it won’t be fixed until late November.

Where did you find the bulbs for the center light bulb? I have one of the 1st gen Sables a 1986 LS. One side of the center light bar is dark and it’s not easy to find the right size replacement bulbs.

Never adjust the climate control with the blower on high speed. That's how they get broke. Always adjust with the blower on low speed. If you knew how intricate the inner mechanicals work you'd be scared to adjust it. Luckily this one uses vacuum cable sliders so it's not as bad as the plastic electronic actuators are but still, never do that.
