I built fairly close to this. It’s so easy to lose dozens of hours playing this game. I’ve never really been into survival scrounge/build type of games such as this, but there’s just something about Subnautica that grabs you and doesn’t let go. I hope this studio continues to expand on this franchise for years to come. It never gets old to me.
Good news, UWE is developing a 3rd game in the franchise. Is it Subnautica 3? Highly doubt as it's probably a precursor (see what I do there?) to the first game, based around Alterra before the Aurora departs on it's Phasegate mission
OMG I killed a sea monkey thinking it stole from me, but when I check my inventory nothing was missing, was so confused, now I realize it was trying to give me a gift...I'm not crying I swear! :'(
They DO steal from you early game. The "give you thing" stuff is trigged by an audio cue, so you can't really miss it. If you kill them after that audio cue, thats on you. I still run them over occasionally cause they don't move out of my way fast enough.
Dude I remember the old subnautica vids so well. They helped me through a few of my play throughs over the years. Good luck to you , and I hope your channel grows!!
I went with the lily pads. Was a great choice for both exploration and story progress. The caves directly below give access to the deep lilypads cave, while the crystal caves are accessible from either end at the purple vents or Marguerit’s seabase. All three pieces of the Mercury II lie along its edges, one of which provides the alien containment, while Omega base provides the exterior growbed (as well as other base tech), allowing for agriculture of both flora and fauna. Plus, the view of glow whales swimming amongst the giant lily pads is pretty great. My third base was in the deep twisty bridges. It is a great spot for certain resources. And it’s fun to try to squeeze a base into such a tight space (plus, my scanning room provides a beautiful map of the cave system). But I find myself constantly returning to my lily pads base because it is so conveniently located.
Also notable for Delta Island, there's a small path just to the side of the base that leads to a cave with a huge amount of Calvenite deposits (gold). Probably the best gold source in the game, and definitely early game.
My base is right near this area I have my base located in the perfect position on the border of the twisty bridges, kelp and the thermal vents. the purple vents area is a short swim over the thermal vent hills. I am pretty sure it is very close to the surface floating thing you mentioned. gets you lots of lead and even lithium nearby as well as nearby access to kelp, gold, silver, and table coral for all those microchips. its also very close to the first underground cavern where some spores can be found.
I loved twisted bridges, just by the broken cable - get 50m bellow for plenty sun light and the deeps have all basic and intermediate materials - and lots of history lore. The empty space also is good for the moonpool.
I just figured out a way of efficient storage for mid to late game using the recycler I turn all the copper into copper wire and titanium into titanium ingots it works so well as for titanium you can have 5 times the amount in a single locker and copper you can have double
I have my first base running right next to the starting area pod. It’s for basic use and survival for now and it’s a decent spot in between the Phi labs, and the rest of the map. I’ll likely move my next base to lily pads. Depending on story of course, I haven’t seen spoilers only minor help on where to move to after vague PDA’a
I do agree with this as i get most of my resources from here. The deep twisted is the defintly a good place to look for sea truck modules I found at least most of the fragments for the modules down there. But it is quite hard to get down to the deep twisted bridges just because of how tight the entrance is
My only base in a survival world is up on one of the lilypads, and then expands around the stem. I love it, super pretty, and I have a giant farm with a land and aquatic plant section. Only issue I've really had is with getting attacked by brute sharks and building a prawn suit, only to have it sink to the seafloor and being forced to use seatruck modules as stepping stones to my moonpool, but other then that its been a really peaceful place with a really cool cave section!
I already built very close to that area in my first playthrough when I went in blind even though I hadn't watched this video yet. So, I guess that's pretty cool
Something I find funny is that in BZ, I had a habitat builder and enough blueprints to build a full base before I reached 2 hours, but in Subnautica, it took me ten times as much 😂
okay, bz is simular to the original with the tools such as the habitat builder and resources like titanium and copper, in subnautica you have to learn how to make these tools and where to find the parts for these tools, in bz its much easier to learn what comes from what as its your second time (or more) building a base, the hard part is picking where to build it. Not figuring out HOW to build it.
I’m so excited for full release. I wanna build a big mane base in my favorite area and many little “research bases” all around the map. Like Im currently doing in Subnautica
@MrSpicyGaming I’m glad they added the ability to build bulkheads going outside on land like the Degasi bases. I was disappointed building a farming base on the floating island in the base game and having to put on a normal hatch which looked weird on land. Then when you would look at the Degasi bases and they clearly used bulkhead doors which made more sense.
The nice open area above the chasm is just perfect for maneuvering the truck around in, and there's so much space for a nice, sprawling base. I picked it instinctually before ever watching this.
I’m built 50 meters south of Delta Docking Station. Where the purple Vents meet the Spires. It’s not the best looking but its central location gave me freedom to start my base early and build so it didn’t feel wasted like it did in the first game. You build a base, horde, build a cyclops, transfer the horded stuff, go into lava zone, deconstruct everything, end game. Below zero feels better for progression for me.
I think Shrub nut is one of the better plants for eating, health, and water. But also for feed for the bioreactors. Making my third bases at the crystal caves now. Nuclear powered.
Oh I'd call "sammy" far more than a wandering danger. Haven't lost any vehicles due to quick action, but plenty of lives. Parked my seatruck under what the PDA calls a garden so he can't get me or it.
I built mine close to the abandoned tech because I thought it was a memorable location for the vehicle constructing bay. I think having my base enmeshed with the twisty bridges is cool too. Also the frost hearts are close enough and it helps to rely on them for food early on.
I built first in the shallows twist bridges but then realized it was far from everything, so I moved my entire base to deep bridges. It costed me 3 hours.
Thanks for the recommended location. Now I have to deconstruct and move all of my current base from the starter location to this ideal area. Good video.
I went to the east arctic kelp forest for my first base after early acces where i build purple vents. I moved to tree spires in both playthoughs though. Love the biome, so for me i always go there eventually
Ironically I started building here when I first got enough to start building just because it looked pretty, then found out after that it was by far the best place I could have picked. You’re right in the middle of everything, which means you never have far to go to travel. Most resources are in the twisty bridges and once you get flat beds for growing niche plants the usefulness of other biomes decreases.
I chose the shores on delta dock. close proximity to volcanic areas so u can use both the thermal powerplants as well as place solar power on the dock or proximity. also get some of the proximity to many other areas and then combine it with the growbeds and ur pretty much set. however that area u show here is definetly nicer when it comes to view and proximity to some other things.
I swear by the ridge between the purple vents and thermal spires. It's shallow enough for plenty of solar, it's at about the center of the map and it has every resource available near it except rubies, magnetite, nickel and kyanite. I built my big base there. The rest are outposts, scanners and charging stations.
Rather than build vehicles, I've been building multiple I tube bases. Even down to 200m, Solar Power gives you enough to refill the O2 tank. So far, I have bases at the transition from the Shallow Twisty Bridges to the Twisty Bridges, midway down the Twisty Bridges, one at the entrance to the Deep Twisty Bridges, one near the stern of the wreckage, and one about 50m from the Omega base, next to a fallen lily. Any deeper and I will need different power sources.
i have about 15 floating storage filled just outside my drop pod. its taken me a while to get the tool to start my own base... now time to relocate all that loot. plenty of titanium and quartz saved up.
I played the first Subnautica a few weeks ago when it was free and I started so slow I started BZ today and two hours in and just ripping through it lol idk how I feel about the layout yet
I usually build mine just above the Crack to what's herfaces Crack and get the bio fuel generator and its pretty central to all the sea truck mods and the sunken ships
Right outside of the delta station dock is better because their is those gyser thingys which provides good power and also provides good access to every biome and their is nothing dangerous the only hostile thing in the area you can run into it once with a sea truck and it dies
I built my first base in the shallows. I was playing in Creative just to look around and I found this location near the purple events so I decided to move. I'm starting to regret it. My neighbor, the chelicerate, isn't exactly nice. 😂 Plus, I'm too far away from everything. It takes so long to get through the map. I wanna build somewhere in the center of the map so I can get around faster and I prefer a nice, flat area to build so I'm picky.
I built in the volcano area because it also has coral samples, lithium, lead, copper, titanium, and diamonds but I can’t seem to find rubys guessing I have to go really far down which I need an upgraded sub for
