I watched a blackbird a few weeks ago, it landed on the edge of my small bird bath in the garden, it had a drink.... then it just sat there, and looked... his tiny head moving around watching the leaves blowing. It sat there for a full 5 minutes doing nothing but watching the world. I learnt a lot from this little bird. Have a beautiful day. :)
Moments like that are truly beautiful. It's really humbling, and for the moment, I forget about the rest of the world! I love that you said you learned a lot from this bird. Thank you for sharing!

After being a part of the rat race for long, realised life isn't about winning the race but it's about enjoying the journey. The covid pandemic thought us so much about enjoying basics of life. Slow living makes it worth enjoying every moment
There comes a time in your life when slowing down is necessary, there is no option, but I admire that someone as young as you can slow down, when you are full of energy and dreams to fulfill
Thanks so much for your inspiration I have watched your video and it changed my whole way of life from decluttering my clothes to slow ing down and enjoying life I no longer keep negative company and no longer try to make everyone happy and do everyone favors I learned to say no and it feels good I got rid of everything and moved to another state 😅 and it feels like I hit the lottery I’m free now and I want to thank you 🙏 keep up the videos I am truly happy now

This video really hit home Sophie! In fact I watched it twice, and took notes the second time. Like you, Gayle does a lot of baking too! We often enjoy it while we are watching the birds feed on our patio. Putting seed out is something small that we can do for wildlife and it’s fun to watch the squirrels, Cardinals, sparrows, and later the turkeys come and feed on the seeds. Such a small gesture is really appreciated by the animals and it’s rewarding to see that. For our me time, Gayle often makes a different type of tea and then we listen to soundscape music or our albums. No TV, news, or phones. We often work on crossword puzzles in our local newspaper at this time too. We have been taking small trips around the area and photographing the landscape, especially as the seasons change. Sometimes it’s just a long drive without any particular destination. This allows us to really appreciate the blessings we have, and the beautiful creation around us. We also appreciate having each others company. Recently, while walking Oscar, I ran into a neighbor that I had not seen for a while! After speaking with her for a few minutes and seeing her interest, I really realized how much I have missed talking to her. I think I’m beginning to be much more appreciative of the people and blessings around me.
You find so much joy and pleasure in simple living Mark. I admire that so much about you! I don't think you and Gayle ever have a dull moment. I have been loving all your photographs of the autumn leaves especially. The colors are so exquisite and it truly looks like a painting. I hope you continue to share your photos of your beautiful ordinary yet extraordinary life :)
@@MalamaLife Thank you so much Sophie for your kind comments! I really appreciate them and your friendship. Photography is our creative outlet, much like your videos are for you two!! I’m always trying different things! I’m also not too proud to ask people “how they did that.” As I am writing this, I swear, Gayle just screamed there was a “huge buck running through our backyard.” Sure enough🦌. I lifted my head in time to a huge 10 point buck. Never a dull moment! 😅😂

When I find extra time to wake up really early to see the sunrise it grounds me and slow my thoughts. Also being on the water just being still with the waves slowly rocking you and the gentle breeze kissing my skin....its very magical and helps to slow things down. These are some of my habits 😊💛💛

City dwellers in every part of the world are having fast life. Every one is in a mode of competition, busy to survive in hitech competitive zone. If possible also add cookery blog.
I would love to add a cooking blog :) it is one of my favorite things to do. I will include more cooking and baking in these videos. I think it's possible to also practice slow living in the big cities. Life is too precious to let it pass by while we're competing with each other. Thank you so much for your comment!
So enjoyable to cook bread or any food in the home. I've watched many of your videos and may I say your an incredible Lady and intelligent. You make the most of life. Every day living so comfortable. Thanks ❤👍
Great video. I think a little slow living is what I need in my life sometimes and the music, calming words, and overall production of the video helped put me in this mood. I'm eating some oatmeal as I watch this, and I find myself enjoying the oatmeal a little more as I eat it very slowly. Great video as always Sophie. Like88!
Thank you so much Alex! I am always reminding myself to eat slower, enjoy the flavors taste texture. I think these videos are reminders to myself to slow down :) Always appreciate your comment.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I always loved the concept of slow living, but just now discovering the true beauty behind it. I'm so happy to connect with others who share similar values. Thanks!
Ahhh Heleakala sunsets are the best. Its so funny to me to see people going there in shorts and short sleeves not knowing its about 30 degrees up there. 🥶🥶🥶 Thank you for this lovely video.
Do you prefer the sunrise or sunsets from Haleakala? I think they're both equally beautiful, but not a fan of waking up at 3am :) We try to go there every chance we get. I don't have a jacket, but always remember to wrap myself in a blanket. Thank you!
@@MalamaLife Tough question. Sunrise is more dramatic , colors are more intense, but like you said 3 am its so hard to wake up. After sunset we stayed and watch the stars. I think i like more sunset, because is more calming for me. And there is less people.
@@houstonka Oh yes! the night sky filled with stars.. so beautiful and breathtaking. Especially at this time, there were very few people at the summit for the sunset which made it even more special :)
"Be where you are; otherwise you will miss your life." - Where I am staying in is important. "Happiness, not in another place but this place... not for another hour, but this hour." - This moment is happy:) "Mind is a flexible mirror, adjust it, to see a better world." - Mind becomes action. "Live less out of habit and more out of intent" - Daily habit is stronger than big unusual event. "We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love." - small things eventually becomes great things:)

I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment since this video was so long ago. But one key thing I do for slow living is I don’t schedule every part of my life. Especially my free time. When I’m off work I Choose what to do depending on the needs and energy I have in the moment.

Hola Alex, thank you for checking out the channel. I agree that this lifestyle is much needed in our fast paced tech driven world. I appreciate your comment. Gracias!
I had to watch your video 3 times. Because I didn't understand it. Because I had too much thought going through my mind. Now after the 3 times. My thoughts are gone. Now I really understand your video. It's insane but sometimes I am here in body but not in mind. I hope it's not going to be this way everyday. The worst it's when someone talks to you. You are not there at all. Then it's like you come back. Then you fake that you did just listen to him all the time. Well I didn't listen a thing. I was flying somewhere. It's really something strange. Yes Houston we really have a lot of problems. LOL
Thankyou for your soothing videos🥰 do you have a video on how you meal plan and prep. I’ve always been chaotic with this. I am vegan and my family is not. I have to to make 2 dinners a day. Hi Sophie great video very nice scene on top of the mountain. Your right life can you throw you a curveball at any time so take the time and appreciate even the small things in life. In ohio were in full blown fall and i love to sit outside with a mug of warm apple cider and listen to leaves rustling in the wind very relaxing. Was that honey that came off your spoon when you made your tea?
I am sure the colors are so beautiful during fall in the Midwest. What you described sounds absolutely perfect. Apple cider makes everything better in my opinion. Yes I use honey to sweeten my lemon mint tea sometimes. Just a touch of sweetness.
I’m sitting here having a little “me time” as I watch some of your videos and eating linguine with broccoli and chicken that I just made. Relaxed! :) Two questions, do you have a secret to good banana bread? 🍞 Mine always turns out so dry. ☹️ And, two,... what do you put into your tea? 🍵💕

Hi Sophie. There is a lot of chaos here in Europe at the moment. Due to the pandemic etc. Try to live slowly and healthily. Walking in the woods and avoiding stressed people. There is strength in calm, right? Best regards. Your Stefan. 🤗
I am just hoping and wishing the situation in Europe gets better. I think it's great you take a walk in the woods and practice slow living even in your circumstances. Thank you so much Stefan.
The chaos is not only in Europe at the moment. It is also in many other countries as well. As long as people insist on clubbing, going to places in large groups and a lack of hygiene plus travelling this will not curb the matter. Greetings from Switzerland.

Thank you so much :) that is so sweet of you to say! I appreciate you watching these videos

I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCH, AND U R SUCH A WONDERFUL PERSON.
Aww you are so sweet. Thank you so so much!
Slow living the best life you can have in this moment
Sophie 😘🥀
I think these videos are reminders to myself to slow down :) Always appreciate your comment.
we love it !
Been waiting for you too upload new videos , just wanted to be inspired.. hope you can upload everyday😂
Maria Thank you so much. That's so nice of you! I have so much more slow living and minimalism content to share with you so stay tuned :)
🇬🇧 loving all the quotes 👍
Thank you so much Carolyn ❤ they motivate me
Loved the slow moments that you showed. It has been a year since am drawn to slow living.I have started to appreciate life so much more in the last year it feels all the years before it just went in a rush.Really loving your island life.Lots of love :)
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I always loved the concept of slow living, but just now discovering the true beauty behind it. I'm so happy to connect with others who share similar values. Thanks!
Beautiful video! ❤️
This is so nice.
thank you so much 🥰 I appreciate you watching!
Your videos leave a great message ❤️
I loved it! ❤
So happy to hear that :) thank you
Ahhh Heleakala sunsets are the best.
"Happiness, not in another place but this place... not for another hour, but this hour." - This moment is happy:)
"Mind is a flexible mirror, adjust it, to see a better world." - Mind becomes action.
"Live less out of habit and more out of intent" - Daily habit is stronger than big unusual event.
"We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love." - small things eventually becomes great things:)
I loveee the white pants with the cut on the sides. You are gorgeous! ❤️
Thank you so much! 🥰
Dang lowkey felt attacked when you talked about being invincible, running on little sleep, and eating fast 😂 my gf hates when I eat extremely fast but it is so conditioned into me that I have to force myself to slow down. I've been running on little sleep for about six years and I don't recommend it which is why I've slowed down. Thanks sophie. Also, that banana bread looked 🔥🔥🔥
I wish I could've shared the banana bread! my husband and I were surprised at how good it turned out :) I still have days where I want to stay up all night/ skip meals because I am trying to finish a project on time, but realizing that it's just a fast track to burning out. I'm glad that you have your gf who can remind you to eat slowly! Thanks Luis.
@@MalamaLife I love banana bread, I could honestly eat a loaf by myself 😋 I make it in the crock pot and I definitely enjoy the smell through the house. I still crush a redbull and power through when necessary
That's one of my favorite quotes, the one from Saint Mother Teresa.🙏💙
Such powerful words 😊💕 thank you for watching
Wooooooow the view whaaaat 😍😍
You and Erika have to come and visit Maui. The sunset and sunrise from the volcano is just amazing!!
I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment since this video was so long ago.
But one key thing I do for slow living is I don’t schedule every part of my life. Especially my free time.
When I’m off work I Choose what to do depending on the needs and energy I have in the moment.
Your videos all so real so intellectual so touching I am just connected to your concepts because I too live life in this way so your videos help me to make some changes in my thinking process and live life still efficiently..
Please don’t stop doing your videos I am from India from Hyderabad ❤️❤️❤️
Your voice is mesmerising
I am so happy to hear that you are enjoying my videos. Thank you so much for your kind words ❤
I am a new subscriber . I love your videos.
Thank you so much tammy😊💕
Thank you
hi! hola grax por tus videos y tu canal de youtube in this time we need to practice this life style paz y amor😉✌🏻
Hola Alex, thank you for checking out the channel. I agree that this lifestyle is much needed in our fast paced tech driven world. I appreciate your comment. Gracias!
Nice video Mam, Thank you from India
Thank you very much for watching 🥰
I had to watch your video 3 times. Because I didn't understand it. Because I had too much thought going through my mind. Now after the 3 times. My thoughts are gone. Now I really understand your video. It's insane but sometimes I am here in body but not in mind. I hope it's not going to be this way everyday. The worst it's when someone talks to you. You are not there at all. Then it's like you come back. Then you fake that you did just listen to him all the time. Well I didn't listen a thing. I was flying somewhere. It's really something strange. Yes Houston we really have a lot of problems. LOL
I know what you mean! I try my best to keep my attention focused on one thing at a time but it's not always easy. Thanks for watching
Thankyou for your soothing videos🥰 do you have a video on how you meal plan and prep. I’ve always been chaotic with this. I am vegan and my family is not. I have to to make 2 dinners a day. It’s always late and though I used to enjoy cooking , I don’t anymore, I’m always running back n forth to shop forgetting things. Would love not to be such a “mess” in this important aspect of life 🤗☀️😺⚛️🤩✨xx
I love the music from your videos always brining me a lot of calme and helps me to recenter. Would you minde once sharing your playlist?
Big thanks for all your videos full of inspiration 😘
Those white pants are sooo beautiful , I would really like to know where they come from please !! Yout videos are so gorgeous and motivating to spend less money and more quality time, but those pants seem really worth it tho 😍
They are from a brand called Maurie and Eve. Australian brand 🥰
@@MalamaLife thanks 🥰
@@MalamaLife ive had store bought mint tea but i want to try it with real mint leaves
@@mczilla8628 I put it up on my kitchen window and the smell is just incredible. try it!
@@MalamaLife I will that sounds great
I’m sitting here having a little “me time” as I watch some of your videos and eating linguine with broccoli and chicken that I just made. Relaxed! :) Two questions, do you have a secret to good banana bread? 🍞 Mine always turns out so dry. ☹️ And, two,... what do you put into your tea? 🍵💕
That sounds delicious! I have tried this recipe and it turns out great (almost) everytime: www.alohadreams.com/maui-road-to-hana-banana-bread-recipe/
I am trying out all types of teas and finding my favorite ones. I'll make a whole video on this :)
Thanks so much Cindy! Try out the banana bread and let me know what you think
Also, if you ever come to Maui, stop by the "half way to Hana food stand" and try their mango and banana bread :) it will not disappoint
@@MalamaLife Thank you so much. I will definitely try the recipe. I’m looking forward to it. :) 🍌🍞💕 I will keep my eyes open for the tea video as well. 🍵 ‘Can’t wait.
@@MalamaLife I will. Thanks! :) That sounds so yummy. One of my best friends lives in Hilo. She keeps asking me to visit. Maybe one day, when the time is right. I would love to visit a few places in Hawaii. ♥️ 🌺🍃
@@MalamaLife 👍🏻 Good Night.....😉
@@StefanJ1980 Good night Stefan
The chaos is not only in Europe
at the moment. It is also in many
other countries as well. As long as
people insist on clubbing, going
to places in large groups and a lack
of hygiene plus travelling this will
not curb the matter. Greetings from
Switzerland.
@@222-q7w We just opened tourism here on Maui and beaches are getting very crowded again. The future is unknown and it's quite frankly difficult to think about, but hoping to just focus on what we can control. Thank you for the comment
Obrigada de Portugal
Aloha from Hawaii :) Thank you for watching. Obrigada
To go to bed earlier and get up earlier. Morning has an enough time to do anything.
thank you so much '' ! your appreciate for me ,
I got to see another beautiful place of your city, thank you mam from india
Thank you so much for watching :)
Hi. I am a big fan. A favour please : mind considering increasing the font size a bit for older groups. ❤️
With no nature where I live, I go to the zoo to get connected to nature.
I enjoy baking to slow down too but I'm working on raw food diet and maybe a breatharian someday.
That's so creative! I love how you can find a way even if you don't have nature around you. Baking on a raw food diet sounds like so much fun and exciting to experiment and try new recipes. Thank you so much for sharing :)
I love your content. I also want to live like you. ❤
Oh thank you so much! I really you watching and supporting :)
@@MalamaLife ❤ I'll keep in mind all of the things that I have learned from your channel. I'm gonna live like that someday. 🙂
@@moneecaperez7594 aww thank you so much ❤
I'm literally kind of a phone person. But i decided try to put it way for a while. Even though It'd take a lot of willpower..
It is really difficult for me too, but always feel better when I put it down and spend time away from it :)
Everything is true 100%. I must ask, what is the recipe for the banana bread you followed? I am encouraged to make it 🍞
