Also with folding Android devices and even dual screen becoming more common, developer has the incentive to optimize their apps on larger screen now, more than ever. This benefits both the fold and tablet ecosystem.
I imagine it's coming, but the video I really want to see is the smack down between the s7+ and the ipad pro. Some things I REALLY want to see 1. Does the increased RAM of the S7+ really matter? I imagine if you open a blank canvas and draw some lines it'll be unnoticable. However with complex pieces with a lot of layers how well do both devices handle the load. 2. How do the various apps that are cross platform perform? Infinite painter? Sketchbook Pro? 3. How each feels to use after a prolonged period of time
Bias or personal preference determines the winner. The one you like better is the best choice for you. But can get the job done. All rev7ewers will have their biases. Comparing these two things isn't apples to apples, both are tablets yes, but they are very different in most everyway. The better one is the one you like best.
I'm pretty sure Brad is gonna give it to the iPad because "PrOcReATe" , there's very few reviewers out there who don't project their own review bias. Though, i think ALLSTARSPACE is actually great in terms of objectively reviewing hardware, and i trust their thorough presentations a lot.

Jace Beleren in fairness tho Procreate is REALLY good, as I try to figure out which way to go I’ll admit leaving Procreate behind would be painful. It’s got the fan base it has for a reason. It legit is a factor to consider when deciding between the IPad Pro or the S7
One of the most important aspects when it comes to laptop replacement, in which the IPad just completely is file management. I don’t know why that hardly ever gets mentioned. It’s such an essential pat of any professional workflow. Being able to to easily and directly access, exchange and move around your files wherever you want is crucial. The iPadOS is nothing but a bad, immature, unintuitive user punishment in file handling. Even my Android phone is miles ahead of that.
Trueee. I have a regular iPad, and while its great for drawing, it sucks when it comes to local file transfer. I once tried to edit a simple video with the Quik app, but my iPad wouldn't let me copy photo, video, and music files over from my PC. Neither did iTunes support file transfer for the Quik app. I just ended up using my Android phone cause transferring files is as simple as copy and paste.
Was planning to buy an iPad Pro when I got noticed of the Tab S7+. Decided to go for the Tab since it’s a lot cheaper and once I knew it would have Clip Studio Paint I was sold. I have the Tab S7+ now for about 2 weeks, including the keyboard cover and couldn’t be happier :D Also got pretty lucky since they sold out everywhere a couple of hours after I bought it.
I have the tab S7+. The screen is fantastic, and the lag has improved SO MUCH! Personally I use it mostly for PDF reading and notetaking, but it's an actual beast. I really hope the new foldable phones coming to the market mean more apps are suited to tablet sized screens.
What hover distance do you get on your pen? I measured mine to be 0.25" which is half of the 0.5" hover on my note 4. Its the smallest I've seen and a real issue for palm rejection.
Long time listener, first time caller. I have a Tab S6 and I love it. I struggled over the decision to buy the Tab S6 over a low-end iPad 7 and I am really happy with my purchase. I noticed something regarding latency on the Tab S6: it seems that the apps that have "latency" are smoothing the strokes, or otherwise modifying the stroke that is drawn. Samsung Notes, for instance, does zero smoothing, resulting in an almost imperceptible latency at the cost of wobbly, wobbly lines (for me, anyway). OneNote, on the other hand, does heavy stroke smoothing, resulting in my handwriting looking much more passable at the cost of slight latency. In painting apps I notice it too, but I have gotten used to that latency. For those who are looking to buy a quality Android tablet for writing and drawing, now is a great time to pick up a Tab S6 for a discount. I don't think you'll notice the latency unless you come over to the Tab S6 from an iPad Pro.

Having played around with it this morning, I think the S pen has a couple of advantages - I actually have more control over my stroke v Apple Pencil.. that's a good thing, also, from a practical perspective, the official cover holds the pencil within it, so there's bugger all chance of losing the S Pen. With the Apple Pencil, I was always paranoid of losing it. Also, there’s an argument that the Apple Pencil has a premium feel because it’s weightier. I think I prefer the S Pen’s lighter weight - I would argue it feels more like a traditional lead pencil or marker:)
I just recently got this tablet for college note taking. I do have the Galaxy Book 3 360 which also came with an S-Pen but the experience wasn't as great with it as it is with a tablet because windows notification centre and taskbar would keep popping up as my hand was on the screen. I've previously owned an S7 tablet and loved it. I really wish Samsung had higher refresh rate on laptops also though since S7 can support 120hz and my laptop can only do 60hz
If they sell well, samsung might bring an ultra version to their tablets. Especially with their upcoming amd partnership they can make a beast of a tablet. They might make a 12.7 inch tab s8 ultra.

I get that it is a sarcastic comment but most people won't. Procreate is just another drawing app ( a good one ) but has no real core features that are not available on anything else. CSP outclasses it as well and ios users will discover that once they try it out
Man I am so glad I watched your video before I bought the iPad. I agree that the iPad is probably the superior choice, but this comes VERY close, and depending on the model you buy, a couple hundred cheaper. Plus it comes with that sweet pen!
I am using the galaxy tab s7+ as a laptop replacement for the school... If I really need any desktop apps I use Parsec that allows me to connect to my PC at home and use the desktop apps... I have bought a third party case that allows me to prop up the tablet and logitech k380 keyobard and it is a LAPTOP 100%
I like it. I don't care for where the pen goes but that's not a big deal. Right now my old Samsung Tablet for drawing works really well. But I'm on the hunt to upgrade so I can tether my camera for still shot photography on the go. And ... draw. Maybe asking too much. Not sure. Still learning. You're very good at making videos. Why won't Procreate make an app for samsung pen devices? They don't have to make the app compatible with all Android devices. Seems like they are ignoring a lot of money.
Hey Brad, what are your thoughts on the Universal Stylus Initiative? HP and iPlume are now selling a USI stylus for devices that support the USI protocol. Samsung, Acer, Lenovo, HP and even Wacom have joined this initiative to have a stylus that will work across all devices irregardless of the manufacturer.
Just a quick correction: You do not even have to sign up at Autodesk to be able to download and use Sketchbook. It works out of the box after downloading it. They stopped using software subscriptions.
Imagine having superb hardware for YEARS, but lacking an essential software for people to use, kudos to Samsung for bringing clip studio to their Samsung devices!
No-brainer for buyers in the UK - why would I want to pay an extra $260 for the iPad which is now, the lesser technology? I'm not even counting the price of the Apple Pencil 2 here. If you put the base iPad Pro 128GB up against the Samsung S7+ 128GB version, they are both $999 in the USA but here in the UK, Samsung have done a fair $=£ conversion. It's close but not perfect so the S7+ costs $1038 equivalent but the base 12.9 iPad Pro in the UK costs £969 or $1259...
I just want to point out that since you demoed Samsung Notes in a window, it performs better in fullscreen. Even in a window, it responds better than other apps, but in fullscreen everything but the regular pen tool responds pretty much instantly.
I'm surprised they weren't ready for the demand. I used to work for Samsung and part of my market share report every day I told them we needed a premium tablet to compete with the larger iPad products. It took about a month of me submitting this information before my supervisor emailed me saying they received my suggestion and I can write something else lol. This all took part about 14 months ago so I'm confident in saying, you're all welcome! 😆 lol
Can we have a more detailed review of the drawing part? I mean how good or bad actually is using the pen on the smooth screen without a matte protector? The rubber nip against it, as you said, seems like a bad combination.
You don't need a matte protector on this for drawing because the tip is soft and has more traction than apple pen On top of that matte completely ruins screen quality by making it super pixelated, shifting colours, and getting scratched within a month or two of use. I'd use silicon friction caps instead on the apple pencil instead.
Get a HARD (white) nib with a matte screen protector for the paper feeling. It won't wear out the way a dark nib would. And modern EMR is better than Apple Pencil. Not even close. It's king of the hill.
Wait quick question. Is Clip Studio Paint subscription based for only the tablet version? Because on the website it looks like the windows and Mac versions are still one time payments, so I'm just making sure I'm not misunderstanding anything

Hi Brad, I got one for my wife. She happens to be a handbags and accessories designer. The software she is familiar with happens to be Adobe Illustrator. But I guess illustrator is still not available in Android. Can you suggest any alternate software in Android that is as good as the full version Illustrator, we're even ready to use softwares that have a subscription cost.
What screen protector would you recommend for this? Some people say the matte protector but then I hear it degrades the quality of the screen for viewing things.

If I heard correctly, Microsoft is supposed to be rolling out an update for Windows machines that will enable second screen functions for Tab s7 and other android devices. Even apart from that someone told me about an app for second screen functionalty on Android - the HUGE difference from similar apps being that it actually senses the S Pen pressure of my Note 10 plus! The name is superDisplay. You install the app on both your device and pc. I've tested it successfully in Photoshop desktop and other desktop art applications.
I have $150 in Samsung credit and as an artist I wish I could spend it on this but I just can't afford it. I'll have to get a Tab A 2020 and not do any art with it.
Hey, fellow artist here using this for sketching. I noticed on a plain white background a "rainbow prism" effect when tilting the screen. Very noticeable at extreme angles. Wanted to check if you or others see this as well and if it's normal? Is it the way amoleds react (s7+) or should I be concerned? Thanks!

Yep. S7 has DEX and Keyboard. If you need desktop you can use Andronix to get Linux Mint or Ubuntu as an app

No-brainer for buyers in the UK - why would I want to pay an extra $260 for the iPad which is now, the lesser technology? I'm not even counting the price of the Apple Pencil 2 here.
If you put the base iPad Pro 128GB up against the Samsung S7+ 128GB version, they are both $999 in the USA but here in the UK, Samsung have done a fair $=£ conversion. It's close but not perfect so the S7+ costs $1038 equivalent but the base 12.9 iPad Pro in the UK costs £969 or $1259...

I just want to point out that since you demoed Samsung Notes in a window, it performs better in fullscreen. Even in a window, it responds better than other apps, but in fullscreen everything but the regular pen tool responds pretty much instantly.
I'm surprised they weren't ready for the demand. I used to work for Samsung and part of my market share report every day I told them we needed a premium tablet to compete with the larger iPad products. It took about a month of me submitting this information before my supervisor emailed me saying they received my suggestion and I can write something else lol. This all took part about 14 months ago so I'm confident in saying, you're all welcome! 😆 lol
What brand hand wrap are you using to prevent accidental touches on the screen?
Can we have a more detailed review of the drawing part? I mean how good or bad actually is using the pen on the smooth screen without a matte protector? The rubber nip against it, as you said, seems like a bad combination.
You don't need a matte protector on this for drawing because the tip is soft and has more traction than apple pen
On top of that matte completely ruins screen quality by making it super pixelated, shifting colours, and getting scratched within a month or two of use. I'd use silicon friction caps instead on the apple pencil instead.

Get a HARD (white) nib with a matte screen protector for the paper feeling. It won't wear out the way a dark nib would. And modern EMR is better than Apple Pencil. Not even close. It's king of the hill.

Yes, the desktop version is a one time payment. Mobile has a subscription.
Brad, I’m a new subscriber and have been enjoying your reviews. Time to replace my 2014 Mac Mini and am now considering this or the iPad Pro. Recently subscribed to Adobe Creative Cloud for my daughter & I, but the Mini can’t keep up. I’m not techy at all...patiently learning, and would like to know if the S7+ would fully support the Adobe Creative Cloud apps since it wasn’t mentioned.

It does. Honestly, it is so amazing. I have shown the feature to my artist friend and he switched to the Tab S7 Plus after he traded his iPad Pro for it.
How is the response rate of the pen in this compared to the S6 lite?
Palm rejection isn't very good on the ipad as well. my apple pencil 2 on the 2018 ipad pro runs into palm rejection issues quite a few times. :(

Hi Brad, I got one for my wife. She happens to be a handbags and accessories designer. The software she is familiar with happens to be Adobe Illustrator. But I guess illustrator is still not available in Android. Can you suggest any alternate software in Android that is as good as the full version Illustrator, we're even ready to use softwares that have a subscription cost.
What screen protector would you recommend for this? Some people say the matte protector but then I hear it degrades the quality of the screen for viewing things.

If I heard correctly, Microsoft is supposed to be rolling out an update for Windows machines that will enable second screen functions for Tab s7 and other android devices. Even apart from that someone told me about an app for second screen functionalty on Android - the HUGE difference from similar apps being that it actually senses the S Pen pressure of my Note 10 plus! The name is superDisplay. You install the app on both your device and pc. I've tested it successfully in Photoshop desktop and other desktop art applications.

No tablet can replace Windows for me unfortunately. There are too many art programs that only work on full computers.

Hey, fellow artist here using this for sketching. I noticed on a plain white background a "rainbow prism" effect when tilting the screen. Very noticeable at extreme angles. Wanted to check if you or others see this as well and if it's normal? Is it the way amoleds react (s7+) or should I be concerned? Thanks!
