Did you know you can take the plastic container in the room behind and aim it at the metrocop and he won't shoot you? It's pretty funny, as long as yours and his eyes are obstructed by something unbreakable he won't shoot at you.

@@ytdl Almost certainly, though probably not for a few years. Obsidian is still working on Avowed now. Also it’s important to mention that Obsidian looks very different than it did 10 years ago, and a lot of the people behind New Vegas have left since then

Factorio is a pretty addicting game, if you're out of money you can download the demo which I still play a month later because I don't have enough for the game itself.
As someone developing a game myself, I love how you're able to artistically analyze videogames and be able to say something good about each one

Most of these games are FPS, I've motion sickness and I can't play them. But I've completed all the other games.

hotline miami series is honestly, one of, if not the best indie game series i've played, and dead space is pretty cool for horror

I don't get motion sickness but I don't like not seeing my character. I still played Portal and liked it (I don't think I beat it) so it's not like a dealbreaker for me, but I would prefer most first-person games as third-person.
There are some exceptions though. The Stanley Parable is better as a first-person game. It would be a lot less funny and impactful if the narrator were talking to some guy on screen instead of you. You can afford to be first-person in walking sims and visual novels lol

If there is one game I'd reccomend for anyone to play its Fallout New Vegas, absolute masterpiece of a game. Also, the Batman Arkham series is also great
I love the Batman Arkham series, easily some of the top games on my list (if I ranked them). I'm curious to see what sort of artistic value Leadhead would find in it though.
I can't get Fallout New Vegas to work on my computer. I'm using Windows 10
I was never able to get into new vegas. For me it was a hybrid of a fps and turn based rpg that didn't feel right. For me I was able to get into fallout 4 and the older, turn based fallouts as the distinction of the type of game was like night and day.

My biggest recommendation is Talos Principle. It could be just a puzzle game, and it’d be incredible, but there’s so much more to it. Philosophy, a deep story, and so many secrets. Not to mention a truely unbiased critique of religion.

I remember playing this one mission in halo 3 (i think it's called floodgate) where you can get inside those trashcans and sometimes the hunters would start attacking it and you would fly around the map
it was pretty fun

Didn’t need the hunters if you had another player. Two players walking backwards into the bottom of the dumpster looking outward while spamming the jump button also sometimes did the trick 😂

I saw a video showing that you can hide your face with a can and the metrocop won't shoot you, I believe before I even ever played HL2, and that's what I've always done.
13:10 that's exactly what you did to me with the bioshock series, I got to this channel after finishing infinite without playing the original two because I thought they where too old to be good, but after watching your videos I got so into it that I've replayed it about 9 times and got the platinum trophies for both games.
same thing has been going on with prey, I bought it because of your video and it made me realize how I behave while gaming after rewatching your video.
I just bought the trilogy for like 10 bucks the other day and the original bioshock is awesome! Games from that era just seem to have so much character and individuality put into their design

I actually just finally got to playing it, mainly because I only own it on PS4. Seems pretty good, the only thing is that it feels a little bit repetetive if you're not following the main mission all the time. I loved the original and I'm just glad to have another similar experience. The parkour is what it's all about.

@@Cobalt985 If you click to show more on the description and scroll down youtube detected the video to be of mirror's edge catalyst, which is funny in my opinion but yeah I played mirror's edge on pc then played catalyst on ps4 sometime later.
Hard disagree about some games on the list, but amazing video nonetheless.
Disco Elysium makes everyone relate to the main character apparently, since I had the same experience.
That's what's special about that game. It's like that scene with harry reluctantly looking at the mirror.
You'll pick dialogue options you like the most, harry will become a little more like you, and then the game will proceed to judge and overanalyze everything you and harry are.
Bonus relatability if you ever did booze, drugs or had your heart broken.

I actually first really heard about the half-life games from your videos and they got me to play them. They were really good but it’s sad how many people I know haven’t heard of them at all.
I would like to add Dark Souls to the list, despite the iconic difficulty, the bosses, music, level design, and combat are all worth experiencing
Really happy to see Disco Elysium here. I'm currently replaying it, and understanding just how intricate the whole dialogue system is. Might be my favourite of all time, too. Great video

I know the grind is a lot for most people, but a lot of that "Genuinely epic worlds and stories; and screwing around" in halo exists in Destiny 2 today. The raids are especially impressive. It does require a guide to get into now-a-days
Also if you like dusk and Doom eternal I'd STRONGLY recommend Ultrakill.
Tbh I stopped playing D2 because of how almost all the new content which comes out is locked behind paywalls.
I love the art and stuff of destiny 2 but the dialogue is so fucking bad that its hard to play
after watching your video on the first half life. it changed my perspective on playing it, i decided to beat it using the new perspective you gave me and it worked out so much better than what i was doing before

My favorite game hands down is Outer Wilds, which I actually got into because of your video. Closely followed by Hollow Knight, Celeste and Pyre. All of them have a really great atmosphere, soundtrack and are just fun to play in general.
Also, to anyone who's reading this and who's into stealth, Mark of the Ninja is a great game in my honest opinion just because of the many ways you usually can approach a situation (horrifying the guards is one of my favorite things to do in that game. And yes, I'm a horrible person), even though it's 2D.

@@savageduck2613 It looks very unpolished compaired to hl2 and ep 2. For example, you can look out of the map almost everywhere, the baked shadow resolution is low and some walls just don't connect using textures and lack detail. HOW DID THIS GET INTO THE GAME: i.imgur.com/onOO9QX.png It's also really short and not as fun, about 1h 30m. While ep 2 is about 2h 30m (SPOILERS) The first combat moment is about 1/5th in and its just a repeat of 2's ending. Just grab some dudes and launch them. The crawling around the core was a bit of fun but that ain't combat. The darkness in ep 1 is more annoying than that it adds something. The game does nothing to make it clear to the player that cars can block antlion holes. The only combat change they made is experimenting a bit with waves of enemies. Thats about it. And that ending is just a walking simulator, with waves.

I bought the dishonored series after watching your vids and I didn't regret it, it's style it amazing and sneaking around and doing everything like an assassin is very fun
I was super on the fence about getting Cyberpunk, but I really value Leadhead's opinion above all else when it comes to games. Guess I'll have to get this, then.

It's fine, it does a couple of cool things (which are not in the gameplay unless you like random variety) but otherwise is held back by the anime melodrama. The existential questions it asks are so simple that you could literally pick any book about the subject and get 10x better understanding of it in less time. The combat is button mashing, even on higher difficulties.
It's a solid 7/10 and a cult game. It's underrated and overrated at the same time.
Got the game and the control sceme is horrifc for keyboard and mouse. I got a control mapping overhaul thingy but i dont know which buttons to change since you have to specify the original keys yourself when using the overhaul, and i havent played the game. I do hope to play it in the futture though.
Normally, I'm not really into Japanese anime stuffs but I've had a blast playing through that game.
Love the video, but Mass Effect definitely deserves a spot on the next video.
Dark Souls 1 is also brilliant, but isn't as forgiving. This works wonders for the experience, but means that I can't recommend it to anyone.
Dark Souls 1 and Dishonored 1 are my two favourite games.

The Beginner's Guide is one of my absolute favorite games and I was surprised to see it covered. If you're not willing to shell out the money for it, I would recommend watching a no commentary playthrough of it; it's so short there's hardly an excuse not to

A game I’d recommend to anybody looking for a challenge and skill based progression in a large open world is for sure Hollow Knight. I absolutely adored that game, from the intense and slightly unforgiving combat to the massive expanse of the world and lore to follow, to the beautiful score of the whole game. It isn’t too often I just sit and listen to the music of a game, but this one seriously had such a good, atmospheric vibe to it that I think it rivals dark souls in terms of sheer world building and player optimization. I would greatly recommend it, personally, I feel like the 15 dollar price tag on it (retail value) is a sin and it should be valued more closely to a AAA title based on the amount of love the small group of developers gave it. It ticked every box for me, I am willing to sit here and say I’d give it favorite game of all time and a 10/10 score. git gud

"Combat Sandbox" may be the best description I've ever Heard for the Halo Games. It perfectly captures why These Games are leaps and bounds beyond Other FPS's
I’d say if you can safely play Black Mesa instead of HL1, the remake stays very close to the original (except for the only bad part in HL1) while improving on many aspects.

I also recommend Metro and Stalker series.
Metro (Redux ver) is a very immersive and amazing game. It looks gorgeous and the gameplay feels good to play and I'd say the story was good, but that depends.
Stalker's graphics may look outdated and gameplay can be a bit rough but put some mods together and it'll feel great. The base game is alright but mods can enhance the experience. The game also has some bugs but few are a bit too major as they can be fixed with a quick save and reload. The story isn't too linear and there is multiple side quests and stuff to do along with it.
Glad you recognized how great the Mirror's Edge games are, and also the beginner's guide. Also, great choice of background music, lol. I love the donut county soundtrack.

Mirror's edge is one of my favourite games of all time, and for some reason I had a feeling it would be part of this list. I remember dreaming about playing this game for the first time when I was 9, I couldn't really afford any PC game at the time so I watched and rewatched gameplay videos because it was just so fun. After almost 4 years I managed to get my hands on the game at a friend's house and I was blazing through the levels with ease, since I remembered every single move thanks to all the years of watching playthroughs, this game also fueled my passion for parkour. That long mirror's edge gameplay sequence at the end made me smile, great video! c:

In a way, when I see your WRPG graph, I honestly think that Planescape Torment ans Disco Elysium shouldn’t necessarily be restricted in the spectrum, but kind of need to be apart. In a way both of these games have such a unique way of progressing the character you’re playing, both of them are technically established characters with backstories, but each of them can evolve in whatever way you want depending on your choices, dialogues picks and decisions. I’ve never seen any other games quite like these two’s, both of them aren’t games where you’ll pick a choice depending on your character and role, but they’re games that will change your character and role depending on your choices, making them much more unique then other western RPG’s in my opinion.
Awesome list man, I already know and love 80% of them but I'm looking forward to getting to know those I haven't yet. Out of all of it tho, that footage of Halo 3 just really took me back and made me remember the time I spent as a little kiddo falling in love with games playing through it with my friends after school, some of the best parts of my childhood were fuckin around in that game. Thanks for this awesome list and the lil nostalgia trip!
