Actually, the #1 reason is, * "you aren't doing it right...." * If I were to unpack that simple truth, it would reveal 1000 things that you can do wrong in your multiple joints, movements, angles, positions, force, torques, tensions, vectors, alignments and inflection points that dynamically change all the time...etc...etc...etc... I'm not kidding either...that's why this whole subject is confounding...because it's literally that entirely complex. Some people stumble upon correct kinematics and do amazing naturally...others of us are missing a few pieces that result in things working some days ...not other.... but... it goes deeper than that. Of my past 40 years of playing, I've spent the past 8 years (after being exposed to Troy Grady) ... a long time ago...he told me personally I was "doing it wrong" ... and you know what... I then figured out "the right way" by myself, over that 10,000 hours of experimenting... and figuring it all out was the most difficult thing I've ever done besides becoming a scratch golfer.
Absolutely! Alternate picking is extremely complicated and it’s easy to mess up any mechanical component up. And it’s the unfortunate reality that some just naturally do a lot of mechanics wrong and others just happen to do a lot of things correct without knowing. Troy Grady’s information was extremely helpful for me. It still took me many years to find what works for me but avoiding bad techniques and wrong picking mechanics is very important.
Look you dont need a metronome if playing with a record on. Learning with a metonome is good I always play faster than the bpm set Its logical to do this if you can play a passage faster than what it is you can easily slow it down and whilst doing this it gives you space hence if you know the finger pattern without thinking then all is well. Yrying to expain 5-6 note riffs aint for most to understand but as you know break down is the key for getting solution

Awesome lesson boss, appreciated. Specially explanation of reason 3 and 5, with examples was very useful. Could I request you, what pattern did you use in the run at 0.10 seconds (beginning of the video) ......that sounds very good. Please...
I hope you enjoyed the video! What are some of the reasons you've found that have been holding your picking back?

#1 is accurate. Just the other day I noticed that when I push my limits on ascending lines, I tend to replace the last upstroke with a hammer on.

Wow ! Someone that uses both pickups on a Gibson for a full sound miracles do happen and killer playing as well !
I can't concentrate on anything about picking with new strings dangling all over the headstock. Would drive me insane.
