What beautiful and complicated end game play by both masters ! Capablanca finds and grinds a tiny positional advantage for the win. A masterpiece of problem solving by the Maestro.
In my opinion Capablanca is biggest chess endgame master who ever lived. His style of play is so mathematically. Regarding Kostić, he shown great level of play. One more exelent game, thanks Agad
"Congratulations, as I know everyone saw it." Pfffft, of cooourse I saw it, duh. *Edit:* Thanks! I didn't know that being bad at chess could get me likes lol I'm a big fan of Agdamator from Portugal :)
me in the sales meeting today: "Hello everyone, welcome to the meeting. Here is a nice picture of our CEO in the hoodie courtesy his PA. Without further ado, lets proceed to the quarterly results. Revenue, revenue, revenue, but it does not work, as the cashflow is not safe in Q1. The sales volume is up 5 million YoY.... OR IS IT (suspense)? I will pause my speech for a few seconds and let you understand why WHILST I have a nice sip of my water. For those of you who were able to figure it out - congratulations, you are an excellent guesser of deals that never happened, and for those who just want to sleep in the meeting before lunch -- ...."
I very much enjoyed watching you break down the winning rook and pawn end game. GM Cappablanca 's style is what made me realize how important the center of the board is in the opening and middle game , I noticed in many positions in this game how you could see at least one of Cappablana's pieces was in the center of the board. We see GM Karpov do this at another level.
If agadmator commented my game I feel it’d go like this. “Move 1 we open with e4. And it was in this position that black resigned. Nothing for her to do”
This Kostic fellow was no slouch! I'm very much looking forward to some more of his games against Capablanca. Thanks Antonio - you seem to be feeling better. I hope you're over your recent ailment.
Thanks for showing this match I'm looking forward to see more games. I think Kostić got the chance to play Capablanca because of all the draws in their past meetings, so Capablanca wanted to show to the world that he can beat him and he did. Kostić was hell of a player but maybe never got the attention he deserved and not many people even know of him nowadays. That's because Capablanca wasn't very fond of him to say the least. As I recall Kostić said after losing this match 5:0 that Capablanca just got lucky and/or something like that. Essentially, he didn't want to admit Capablanca was a better player. Cuban didn't like that at all. So in the future Capablanca didn't want to play him and didn't want to appear on the tournament if Kostić's invited. Unofficially, even one of his conditions to play on some tournament was that Bora wasn't on it. Promoters of course looked the other way in Kostić's case because we all know Capablanca was one of the greates players that ever played the game of chess so it's no big surprise that Bora quickly fell in his shadow.
I really love Capa's games. He was so smooth, converting really small advantages into a win. I would never have considered doubling pawns on the f-file, and would probably have achieved only a draw.
18:06 -- Kostić blundered here with Ra3, because that position can be held to a drawing rook and pawn endgame with Ra2. The line proceeds: Ra2, Bxc5 (commencing the exchange is the engine's top recommendation, and also what Capablanca had been working toward), Bxc5, Rxc5, Rxf2, Rc7+, Kg8, Rb7 (this is White's only move that doesn't lead to drawing lines), Kh7, Kg4, (Rg2+ or h5+), ...and the Black king is fortified while the White king is exposed and juggling defensive responsibilities.
Concerning [...16:56 IF Rg2+] as well as [...18:42 IF Rg4+], allowing a rook trade and pawn race: In both scenarios, white's king will capture the pawn on f6, then recapture the rook on g7. Black is ahead in the pawn race until...f7+. Due to that threat, white promotes first. White is up a pawn or two, and black's last pawn on h6 is about to fall. However, ignoring that sitting duck pawn, white might be able to force a queen trade if he can fork the black king and queen, with white guarding the b5 and g6 squares. Otherwise, white should be able to push his pawn advantage while black has to avoid forks that trade queens.
10:23 why didn't he move his bishop to c6, in order to exchange bishops. It does not seem to me like a bad move, so why wasn't it played? Maybe somebody can explain that to me please.
They didn't seemed so sure as to wheter they would go for that line or not, basically the rest of the game was Capa saying "let's go for this" and Boris saying "dunno man" wich allowed Capa to improve his position little by little. So I think only Capablanca studied the position, bc if Boris did, he would see all the advantage he was giving by playing silly waiting moves. Maybe he knew he was lost but didn't wanna resign so early, who knows
This is game #26 of "Capablanca's Best Chess Endings." This game is misleadingly simple and drawn through most of the game until the very end. I expected more seeing this game in an end game book but I suppose Capablanca's ability to simplify and convert seemingly drawn positions was part of his genius.
Is there a way to copy/paste the move list from Lichess onto a notepad or microsoft word? I don't see any easy link to 'copy to clipboard' or any thing easy like that. Any help would be appreciated.
Position at 18:32 why didn't white just check the black king trade rooks then start pushing his past pawn then and queen. White would of only been able to grab the H pawn due to the black king being so close to the F pawn
True; but White also gets a Queen. Rg4+ Kxh6 Rxg7 Kxg7 b3 h6 b2 h7 b1Q h8Q+. White can easily gobble up the last Black pawn. Then, the material is not equal in this position because White has pawns on the board while Black has none. Totally winning for White.
Cause it's a great Zugzwang Symphony this game Try to defend your king, the rook triangulates back where it came I'll take you down the only endgame where I get your crown You know the one that takes you to the 8th rank down a pawn, yeah Now move, you can't move, you can't move, you can't move but I'm here with my rook, I am here with my rook. But in a million different outcomes from one move to the next you can't get my rook, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
Casablanca saga is a great learning tool for beginners who know how to move the pieces and who need to learn how to make your opponent play to your advantage and not his
Agadmator's lines : " Captures captures" "hello everyone" " let me have a sip of my water" " congratultions you are an excellent *insert praise*" "nice idea but it doesn't work" "and that was in this move __________ resigned the game " "why did he resign?" " now it's a completely new game "
"I'm sure you all see the move". I was so embarrassed, I paused the video and looked very hard. Found it and breathed a sigh of relief when it happened to be correct. Lol.
Very interesting variation - your dog is to your left in the opening. I didn't see Be5, but then again, I can't really keep up with anything beyond Pe4.
Hello everyone (agadmator)! been a huge fan of you for close to a year now (or maybe even longer, I can't remember). your content is amazing and your dedication and love for chess is inspiring! could it be possible for me to humbly recommend a game for you to cover? Robert Byrne vs. Bobby Fischer, US Chess Championship 1964. Fischer forced resignation as black in just 21 moves. one of the most astonishing victories i've ever seen in my very short chess career! thanks again :)
Nice massage game by Capablanca. I would like to know what the Tablebases say about the endgame. Often this kind of position with the f and h pawn up is a draw.
#suggestion I think you should define the number of episodes before starting a saga and number them. For example this could be 82/100. That means the 82 episodes out of 100. It could make the content even more interesting (out of the feeling of scarcity) and it could give us amazing finales. Thanks
17:17 and it's at this point that we have a completely new immortal quote by agagmator: "it's a minor difference but it is a big difference".
I came to the comment section as soon as i heard him say it
@@charlesnyoni2121 So did i just now to meet this comment and your reply LOL
Hello everyone, captures captures, nice idea but it doesn't work.
Hahahaa 😂
You are an excellent repeater of catchphrases
xD
You are an excellent repeater of excellent repeater catchphrases
I'm just here to enjoy the show
Felt like an eternity since the last upload even though it was only one day. My Sunday certainly suffered.
This saga has been a masterpiece, awesome work agad! 👍
Yes more Capablanca! This is the good stuff

Happy birthday Antonio, a bit late but better late than never :) Hope you had a nice sip of your rakia
Thank you! And of course :)
i love capablanca's games.. it looks simple and enjoyable
One of my favourite games in the Capablanca saga. Beautiful!
This Kostic fellow was no slouch! I'm very much looking forward to some more of his games against Capablanca. Thanks Antonio - you seem to be feeling better. I hope you're over your recent ailment.
Those were the days when games were eventually adjourned, when the only engines were human brains...
Capablanca was amazing .
More original on the board class
Yesterday was agadmator's birthday wish him guys 😀

I love the smell of agadmator in the morning
Man it`s so nice to see a chess channel doing so well on youtube. Wish you all the best!
The Capablanca Saga is gonna be longer than One Piece
Obviously. In Chess you have more than one piece
Zugzwang game from Agadmator - instant watch and like

"This position has never occurred ever since." So from move 12 on we have a completely old game on our hands.
Capablanca was really clever and crafty, Wow.

I learned a hell of a lot the breakdown of this great game, thank you.
Wow what an instructive game.Thank you Agadmator for the great content.
You are the best
"Moral of the story: Capablanca always wins." 😆
What's chess?
Uhm, it's a game with two opponents facing each other, and in the end Capablanca wins.
Concerning [...16:56 IF Rg2+] as well as [...18:42 IF Rg4+], allowing a rook trade and pawn race:

Legend capablanca. Thanks agad for the saga series❤❤❤❤
happy birthday Antonio, your content is a really big impact in my life
Capablanca saga is back! Made my day.
Your videos help a lot,Agadmator.May you live long. Please keep up the good work👍
Whenever I've seen a game from Capablanca, I have the urge to play myself.
Capablanca's ability to get the right position, with the right player TO MOVE, was quite illustrative! Lots of little things reeeeeally added up here.
Welcome back to the good stuff! Lol awesome!
4 minutes old and already 442 views, well done Agadmator
🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🔥🤺
in 18:43 is it good to play rook g4 check instead of e4 and trade rooks it must be winning for black.
18:41 after h5 by white black can play rg4 check and trade the rooks and black can push the pass pawn to victory right??
Good dog, where are you from?
Jesus im fkin high and this channel is the best omg so great man
16:56 cant black just give check with the rook, exchange rooks, and than his b pawn is too fast and he makes a queen?
I thought the same thing, Agad made a little mistake there.
Finally. Hope you are good Agadmator!
16:56 a huge mistake black will trade rook and push the b pawn
10:23 why didn't he move his bishop to c6, in order to exchange bishops. It does not seem to me like a bad move, so why wasn't it played? Maybe somebody can explain that to me please.
Everyone: Sees the move
Me: doesn’t see the move
😭
I didn't see it either.
I didn't see that either. it was quite an ugly move
Haha yerp it was it great video learnt alottttt
at 0:04 the dog is like: I do not need this, I have a life :)
“Hello everyone welcome back to the good stuff”
~Agadmator
16 : 58, its actually a blunder i think if Rxg7, because if Rg2+, he can trade rook end push his passed pawn on b4
People are more interested in commenting first rather than watching the game😶
So did they study the position during the adjournment or no? I didn't catch what the tease was for.
They didn't seemed so sure as to wheter they would go for that line or not, basically the rest of the game was Capa saying "let's go for this" and Boris saying "dunno man" wich allowed Capa to improve his position little by little. incredible game
11:17 what if Kostic had just done the originally suggested move of knight to a4? There'd be no fork, and that pawn would fall, no?
Don't get it. What about Rg2-check at 16:57?
Agad's mistake, Black would queen its pawn very fast.
finally back to the good stuff. :)
Yay!! More Capablanca saga!!
Is there a way to copy/paste the move list from Lichess onto a notepad or microsoft word? I don't see any easy link to 'copy to clipboard' or any thing easy like that. Any help would be appreciated.

18:42 Why didn't kostic give Rg4+, trade rooks and then it is not possible stop the B pawn from queening?
True; but White also gets a Queen. Rg4+ Kxh6 Rxg7 Kxg7 b3 h6 b2 h7 b1Q h8Q+. White can easily gobble up the last Black pawn. Then, the material is not equal in this position because White has pawns on the board while Black has none. Totally winning for White.
@@ksham. Thanks mate!
At 10:40 why not Ng6+? Wins the dark-squared Bishop Bc the rook is guarding any recapture
G6 is protected by the light square Bishop.
Thanks for the upload agad.
Cause it's a great Zugzwang Symphony this game

Agad already has shown one game , the score is 2-0 rashid. Not change anytime soon.

Happy bday agad😀! Sorry i'm late

Hi :) I have question. IF is game a very long and game has to continue in next day, what is happening? Someone has always advantage, or?
The final move of the day is written down and given to the referee and when resuming, it is revealed
""I will be back!" 80 years ago they didn't have any computers, they had Capablanca! May the Capablanca sag never end.
Good game 🙌😌
Miss you from 2880 minutes 🤗🤗🤗
Where's medo?😍
Finally a game by Agad
there is a slight asynchronisation bw audio and video
6:00 when you have school chess tournament this week but miss this...😪
Nice massage game by Capablanca. I would like to know what the Tablebases say about the endgame. Often this kind of position with the f and h pawn up is a draw.

Also, when the game was adjourned, did Capablanca have to make a "sealed" move? If not, that would seem to have been quite an advantage...
