I know stuff like wiring harnesses aren't usually kept on the shelf. But this was a known issue to mahindra. So maybe they should insure customers that the problem can be fixed sooner rather then later.

Real shame about parts. I’ve been following the Mahindra saga for a while. Everything on paper makes this an excellent car. Great price, great fuel economy, great engine, the diff locks are truly a fantastic innovation that many other 4x4s should have. I’d consider a second hand S10 - however, like you said, parts and reliability would prevent me from making it a daily driver car. I can’t afford to be off the road for 1 month, and if I had it as a daily, I’d be too worried to do anything fun with it. I think I’ll probably end up going with a second hand D22 Navara, or triton.
Yeah mate, it's definitely making me second guess my decision. The biggest fear I have is what happens when the warranty runs out!! Imagine how much replacing a wiring harness would be at a dealership after the warranty had finished. Just an astonishing amount I don't have. I absolutely love this little beast, but it certainly doesn't give you confidence any more.
I've got the same Mahindra in South Africa 100k on the clock, I have had no problems so far (touch wood). Problem here is we don't have much aftermarket parts, as well as customisable Overlanding parts. Looking forward to your 2023 videos as always. Take care.
I've always had the wrong idea of Indian automobiles but after seeing Mahindra pickup passes 250k with original engine and transmission and both diffs i completely changed my mind
Shame on Mahindra Australia that couldn't stock parts on the shelves ! Hopefully they will improve in coming years by listening to the customer concerns. No wonder why the Japanese manufacturers are still on demand in the market. Loving your dog dosso 💗🐕🙏
Thanks for watching, and thanks for your feedback. Yeah I really hope mahindra is watching how other main stream manufacturers are doing it. Our dog dozer is so keen to go with us all the time. He absolutely loves camping with us. 😀👍🙏
Yeah I expected to lose a bit, but not less than half the price of a vehicle that is only 12 months old. But I'm glad I didn't sell it, and I'm definitely glad I didn't buy a S11.
Happy to see you got your Mahindra back, hoping you have many care-free km's. I had to get shackle bushes and leaf springs on my Pik Up replaced under warranty. Other than than that, and a set of Hankook AT's, it's going well so far. Wish aftemarket part suppliers can start getting on board with Mahindra parts and accesories.
Yeah I have to be honest with my viewers. You guys and girls will see straight through me if I start bullshiting you all. Look, the mahindra ute is an awesome bang for your buck contender up against some other brands. It's really down to your personal needs of the vehicle. While being a bloody good farm ute and part time off roader, it lacks the refinement of others in the dual cab range. It's more truck like then car like. So if I was looking for a family dual cab that isn't going full off road often, I'd probably look at a GWM or a sangyong musso in stead. Just really do your homework on what ever vehicle you choose. That's the beast way of making an informed decision for you and your family. Good luck and merry Christmas mate👍
As usual Graham, really good honest feedback about the vehicle, disappointing the steering rack went at such low klms and having to replace a wiring harness, that's pretty disappointing, then having to waiting a month....you are more patient than most. After sales, service and parts seems to be a big problem across a number of car manufacturer brands. Such a shame because the bones of the car look pretty solid. Mahindra should use some parts or have them made to the specifications of the old Hilux ln106...I have one of these old beasts and you just can't kill them. Merry Christmas Harris Family, hope the new year is a cracker for all of you 🍻
If you was a cash strapped Retiree who could buy this or an ISUZU 2 wheel drive high lift would you still buy one? 2x2 Isuzu is the same price as 4x4 Mahindra. cheers
G'day mate and thanks for watching. If your cash strapped your probably not doing to much 4x4ing. And the d-max is a more comfortable place to sit for a longer period of time. On the other hand, the mahindra is 4x4, and that is worth its weight In gold sometimes. Especially if you are exploring it bit more off grid and travelling off the beaten track. It all comes down to your own personal needs. Both are very robust and have engine's that will do the distance without fuss. Hope this helps 👍
Times have changed. Manufacturers don’t keep parts locally anymore. 6 months wait for turbo downpipe on my 2019 triton. Mahindra is no better or worse for that matter.
25k ?! Bloody hell sounds like picking one of these up in the used market and haggling a warranty out of the dealership is the way to go. There's a lot on Carsales privately with 50000km asking for $40k so maybe the dealership is trying to take you for a ride.
It seems a lot of people on Facebook think 25k is a good price. But I'm willing to bet not one of them would trade there's in at that price. I'm damned sure I wasn't going to take less then half the price for something less the 12 months old. I told the dealer I would take everything and I mean everything off mine including the suspension and tray, and give him a cab with 4 doors and chassis rails. Because that's what I was getting in return. He promptly said NO!!. Didn't think he would either. Lol. Thanks for watching mate 👍
I read " If the rubber boots that shield the tie rods get ruptured, debris and water can enter inside the rack and wash the grease. Lastly, if left for too long, the rack can corrode and jam." Also, "The two reasons why steering racks fail are fluid contamination and steering pump wear." Since yours had so little mileage, just my noob guess that it must have been the rubber seals and fluid contamination. Wish you better luck for all future adventures, and it's fun to watch. Also enjoyed 'the paw' at 5:46 mins
All rubber boots and seals were still in good condition, they replaced the pump, but didn't fix the problem. I'm still not one hundred percent certain what the actual issue was as they took the old rack away. Thanks for the feedback mate 👍 👌
I’ve had 2 pickups now , probably won’t get another as I want a few more creature comforts I think the auto is overpriced for a 6 speed auto Pickups are good if you buy them and keep them forever. I had my first one for 12 years and only lost 20k The lack of aftermarket stuff here as opposed to South Africa still amazes me
Yep definitely!! I actually complained to the technician director of mahindra about the storage in a mahindra. Especially when the jam the tyre lever down the back pocket of the driver's seat!! Imagine that going through your spine in a crash. That's why I put a box in the back to get all the jack and crap out from the cab.
Good to see you got that Mahingee back for more play time in 23.. look forward to seeing more of the mods you do on it as I am keen to get a Mahingee next yr .. maybe a Scorpio N 4wd though ...
Thanks mate. We are definitely keen to get started on the mods. Just need to wait for them all to turn up before I hook in and start building. Thanks for watching mate and have a safe Christmas 🎄
Fair question. I actually wanted to take all my mods off and put the straight on a new S11. If I had to go and buy all my mods again it would have been to expensive. Mahindra charge heaps for things like bullbar, towbar, side rails, bash plate etc. About 10k with of mods, plus the cost of a new ute. In the end it just didn't make sense to sell, just to get an auto gearbox. 👍
@grahamharris4wdadventures53 Back in the days of the original Musso dual cab, I bought brand new, but they didn't offer an auto. 6 months later, they convinced me to trade up for the new Actyon Auto. Lost 10k less than 3k on the clock. The diff started making noise, and I barely had 1000km on it. Took 30 days for the part to arrive, and that was in 2009. After that, all was good, but the issue was that the national distributor / owners was not prepared to carry parts or invest their money in parts, especially warranty work.
@grahamharris4wdadventures53 I bought 3 Ssangyong, and I was happy with them routing for the underdog, but parts are the biggest problem and turnaround.
Well I decided after trying to sell my 2013 Mahindra single cab ute here in South Africa to rather keep it. Seems the Ford Rangers and Hiluxes have a bit more problems that I didn't know of, so rather keep what you know and stick with it, thinking of buying a S4 or S6 single cab 4x2 in the new year for long road use, the one I have only has 102 000km on it, clutch plate replaced, diff cover replaced and injectors redone because I think the previous owner messed around with it before selling it to me, I really do like them more and more every day, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family 😀

Mahindra either need to have parts in the country ready to go, have efficient ways of getting parts here from India (overnight international freight exists, it's not cheap but can be done) or be able to provide loan cars or pay for rental cars when cars are long term off the road. 25k as a trade in for a year old vehicle with 50k on the clock isn't too bad. Given the dealer would probably barely make 30k for it once it's on the lot there's not much of a margin. Everyone knows that selling their cars as a trade in is not the best way to sell a car, just how it is. With the exception of Land Cruisers which are just in a ridiculous bubble, all cars are depreciating assets and should be treated as such.

No they are not listening at all. That is the biggest worry, there is no customer service in SA. The other big worry is the trade in value.
Yeah, I got a fair bit of criticism over getting upset at my trade in price. But I bet not one of them would accept that price if offered to them.
