I am 1 of 12 kids. I LOVED growing up in a big family. My mom cooked from scratch & sewed just like you Lisa! My parents were born during WW2 in Europe, so my guess is they wanted a big family. I love your channel so much because this is how I grew up. It's chaos to others as it's music to my ears. We all played well together & helped out in the house, and we're never bored. Since there were 12 of us, we weren't all in the same house at one time. Maybe 6 at a time as the other ones married or left. Times were tough and we were poor growing up, but it was just the time too. We appreciate everything! I'm so blessed to have grew up in a large family.

I love when you were describing that one of your boys needed a little extra attention that you never mentioned which one it is. There are so many moms (influencers and non-influencers) that dish out all their kids info. and don’t have any consideration for their privacy. So refreshing to see that! 👏🏻

Exactly, we have 5 kids ages 7 and under and I've taken on the motto that I do whatever is "on demand" ... So baths, cleaning up the toys, feeding, cleaning toilets, etc! Spending time together and enjoying our days is so much higher priority now than making sure toys are put away!

I was so scared of how I would manage twins, a friend of mine with twins reminded me over and over that the Lord doesn't call the equipped He equips the called! I'm so pleased to say that all my writing was for nothing. There are hard parts but overall twins are an amazing and beautiful experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Prayers for you sweet mama. If you're curious, my kids are 6.5, 3.5 and the twins are 19 months now.

As a newish mom to 2 under 2, I found this episode so encouraging! Some days are really hard and it seems like I can’t get anything done. (I have a fledgling TH-cam channel.) We want more kids and it’s good to know that the more you have, it’s not the same kind of hard like it is when you just have a couple little ones. There will always be hard seasons of life but there’s just something uniquely exhausting with two littles without older kids! 😅

Homeschool mom of 5 here, and on days when I feel overwhelmed, i somehow feel strengthened and motivated when I watch and listen to your content. I guess it’s because of the truth you give in having a big family. The bad days aren’t the truth. The truth is that everyday with a big family is a blessing and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

I'm one of 13 children. We all had specific, age-appropriate chores as we grew up, and we had SCHEDULES...because we had to! (I should mention that we only had one bathroom in our house. . .yup.) My mother always said that you "just made a bigger pot of spaghetti sauce" and taught each child how to take care of his/her own things. I only have four children, but the concept is an easy one to understand and adopt.

I've noticed a shift in your videos. They have a different style than they used to on your Farmhouse on Boone channel, not bad, just different and I think it's because of your growing family and farm. I appreciate that you're sharing perspectives on large family life. Though large families are common amongst some groups of people or religions, it's still pretty rare, and besides the TLC shows we see, it's nice to have honest perspectives of family life that are unscripted. Twelve kids later, I really think the ease or lack of ease of large family life is defined by dynamics too; temperaments, order of gender, spacing, health, the type of birth of new baby, ease of breastfeeding, etc... We have 6 boys in a row (8 boys total) now and it's very loud and rough sometimes. I like your style of trying to get them outside after school is finished. It's a blessing to have a large property that is secluded so they have that room to run, play, and explore. If you have any tips or tricks on storage solutions to minimize clutter, a video on that would be wonderful.

I’m an only child and a mother of two adult sons. I was and still am fascinated/baffled by the whole sibling/big family thing! One key element seems to be that if each family member feels valued and respected, the relationships, chores, and teaching/discipline seem to work better - and Lisa’s family seems to have this. (Not saying they are perfect, no family is!) I’ve known people from big families who felt lost in the crowd or saddled with too much responsibility too early (older kids), but clearly this isn’t inevitable.

I admire all your hard work, ability to homeschool, farm and have a large family. You are an inspiration to keep things simple! Thank you for sharing our family and life. One of my big questions would be, how do you put your children to bed. My sons always wanted to sleep with us and I see my grandchildren wanting their parents to "lay with them" and it takes a lot of time to put kids to bed!!

2 and 3 year olds are my absolutely favorite ages!! They are so cute and funny at that age. Our current 3 year old says funny stuff. We cannot wait when our 5th is a toddler but he already has quite the personality being the 5th. They just get more personality the more siblings there are.
We also have outdoor gifts for outdoors, sleds, kids kayaks, ninja slack line, we had a rock climbing wall in our home but took it down to potentially sell our home. Kids outside is a must or the house is a constant mess.
    Thanks for sharing!!

I only had two children, grown and parents themselves now. I miss those days believe it or not. Now as a grandmother I often babysit for young moms in my church family to give mom a break. My friend adopted four children in about five years and her own mother passed away before any were here. My heart aches for her, so I like to help out because I know her mother would do it if she were still here. In the Bible older women were to teach the younger women how to love their husbands and raise their children. So this is my way of being a support and getting my fix of being around itty-bitty kiddos! 💕🥰

I fully felt the blessing of having a large family over Thanksgiving! For one because I'm not close with my own immediate family. Which makes me want to have a lot of children myself so we CAN have bonds and traditions and that close family time that I crave. I am close however to my extended family. Me and my kids 5 went across the road to my grandma's to help prep thanksgiving dinner. My baby didn't help of course. But my almost 9 & 7 year olds, and my 4 year old were fully capable of ACTUALLY helping and my 2.5 year old was cutting grapes in half for the fruit salad. That impressed me! And I'm the mom haha I feel like you don't understand the dynamic of a large family until you experience it! They are capable and they become capable by necessity. But it's a good thing!

Listened to this on the podcast yesterday and absolutely loved it! Thank you for sharing 💗 I’ve been thinking on that verse about a woman keeping watch over her household ever since and love it!

My mom had 7 in ten years. Opposite of you, 5 girls and two boys. She was a wonderful mom but didn’t have time to do everything you do. Your are amazing an Mom. Don’t you ever get to take a quick nap.? How do you keep going?

A cousin of mine does bottle rockets with his kids. They make them and paint them as a craft, then have a launch day outside. They love it and the adults also have fun setting them off.

What I cant figure out with room sharing and older kids (8,6) and younger kids (3,2) is how to foster older kid interests and keep littles from being on top of them and messing with stuff like sewing projects, baking and such. My littles want to take over and do whatever the big kids try to do and are all over them. I feel like I'm constantly protecting my bigs from my littles and cant get anything done. Tips from anyone would be appreciated. I'm desperate 🤪

I have seven kiddos under age 8. Four girls and three boys....and what I actually did with my daughters was I split them between two rooms with one "big" and one "little". Each big has her little and takes a certain degree of responsibility for her. I completely understand where you're coming from though about the age gaps and keeping littles from annoying bigs. I was on the fence about splitting the girls like that but it's gone well so far. The littles don't mess with the bigs' stuff like I thought they would, and my big girls are mini moms and love the responsibility. Kids will surprise you. Challenge them! 🥰

I cant convince my oldest to do things out of the way of littles even though we have given him his own room, I totally feel you on this.

we do bunk beds for some private space for our kids. its been working well for small toys, but those other projects just have to wait until littles are napping. As for big kids not keeping their big kid stuff out of reach - I just toss it if it isn't where it is supposed to be.

I want a lot of kids but my main concern is if they have health issues ... We only have 2 kids and my older son has Autism. I work full time and feel like if more than 1 person in the family has a health issue at the time then it's impossible to keep up with anything 😕
