You know, since the Canadian dollar is sitting at less than 80 cents US, the Sorry Girls only had US $16.00 to work with. So for them to spend only C $18.07 means they only spent around US $14.45. They skunked you guys!
Canadian here! That's exactly it, our dollar has less buying power, even in our own economy, especially considering the fact that minimum wage in NY is $12USD compared to $14CAD ($10.70USD) in Ontario
I was living in Toronto for college, budgeted $15 a day, and that was including groceries and transportation. Definitely a struggle, wasn't able to go out much if at all, there was a couple times I had to go without food for a day or 2, never got the chance to go shopping or anything. But I'm kind of thankful that I did, because when I hopefully move back to Toronto to work and I actually have an income, I know how to make the most of that income from all the money-saving tricks I learned in college.

Like when I go out with my friends for happy hour drinks cost us about 12 dollars per person (that's like 4 drinks though) and like a proper meal is like 14 dollars. So like an average happy hour and food is like $26. Of course as a student in Uni I'll want to get drinks on the cheap. So thanks. Love you guys by the way! ❤❤❤❤

It’s super easy to do $20 in Austin during SXSW. Free shows at Waterloo, Chilantro and other restaurants constantly give out free food, and of course going to the lake is free too. Plus lots of drink specials.

You'll be wise to stay in Toronto. It's safer, cleaner, nicer, and cheaper. It's easy to get around, the weather is better and flying or driving in and out is so much easier. AND.....biggest advantage....the healthcare is free and Toronto has some of the best hospitals in the WORLD. Don't bother with nasty New York.
