These RAF bands are absolutely top notch, my Dad would be proud he served with the RAF from 39 to 45,in North Africa, invasion of Sicily, invasion of Italy.
My daddy was in the RAF ❤❤I still think that the RAF uniform is the best very smart my daddy looked great in his I still have all his medals 🥇 and photos
Thank you for sharing this wonderful segment of the RAF being represented, I miss all these events since living ‘down under’ good to hear Alte Kameraden (Old Comrades) one of my favourites when I played clarinet in odd bands. Greetings from Tasmania Australia 🎼👍😁🇦🇺🦘 I have tried playing and marching in a concert band, not easy believe me.
Thank you for another good recording. Does anyone know why this particular Drum Major does the drag step and 4 paces at mark time after every wheel to the right or left? I have never seen this in other marching bands but the Scottish Pipe Band Drum Majors do the drag step, to good visual effect, before a countermarch. Properly timed and executed, as here , it looks good.
Having had a DoM who came from RAF the mark time for the DM and DoM is done to keep the correct distance between band and DM + DoM, no stepping short necessary.
@@TheDrummie1 Thank you for taking the trouble to respond. It's clear from watching the video that the front rank has to step short after completing the 'wheel' in order to avoid colliding with the DoM.The band ranks close up before stepping forward normally. No other UK bands do this but I have noticed something similar with the 'Oompah' Street marching Bands in Austria and available on You Tube. Regards
I didn't expect a British band to play a German march "Alte Kameraden" or "Old Comrades". Well done.

Did I just hear 'Workers' Play Time@ - only the old will know! Ha ha.

The marches played were,
1) 0:01-Eagle Squadron
2) 2:11-Old Comrades (Alte Kameraden)
3) 4:59-Out of the Blue
Absolutely TOP TOP TOP ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐♥️ and absolutely 💎 diamond ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
❤❤best band luv it😂😂
An RAF Band considerably improves the Guardsmen’s marching.
Interesting
Whatever the next to last piece was that was played was at a faster tempo than I hear from other bands. I was almost out of breath😂

Don't ever watch the Gurkhas or the Rifles then, for the sake of your health!
Love hearing Old Comrades being played and marched on parade 👍🏻My favourite German march.🇨🇦

It's standard RAF practice.
@@stewartbristow9319 Thank you. Strange I have never noticed this before in a lifetime of watching military bands

Excellent, but people should be clapping not filming.
does anyone know the name of this march?
The third march is called " Out of the Blue" I think it is by Hubert Bath.
First march is called Eagle Squadron
When and why did they stop wearing RAF shakoes?
It was called a Busby and was discontinued in 2012 in favour of the standard SD Cap throughout the service.
